  1. "With 2 games left in the season, it was still anyone's chance to win the division" what is this "division" nonsense? This is MLB, not the NFL. Two league winners meet to determine the world's best baseball team.
  2. Weird number, but looks like Wash.
  3. Just to bring this back to reality... in 1962 Henry Aaron played 156 games, 592 ABs, 45 HR, 128 RBI. .323/.390/.618 He finished SIXTH in the NL MVP voting.
  4. Still a full fighter wing of A-10's at Davis-Monthan. Which, coincidentally, is also the location of the boneyard. Chief Jr Jr got gifted 2 ducats for last night's game and he invited the old man. My knees almost didn't survive the climb, but a good time was had by all, until top 2.
  5. Best of luck, and congrats on a long and very well done career, Mr Bremer. You are forever a part of this franchise. Side note, but with the contract ending, and Dick not getting any younger, this wasn't hard to see coming. Many of us predicted it during the season. I vote Provus. Radio loss, but TV gain. And I would be OK if Atterbury got the radio gig. And dear God please do NOT try to emulate the morning Power Trip. Yeesh.
  6. Yeah, and DoubleYuh threw out the first pitch last night. Case closed.
  7. I worry about his health. So it comes down to...wait for it... Gray's Anatomy.
  8. Again, I really think situations need to be taken into account. I dont think "swing hard in case you hit it" is always wrong. But its not always right, either. There are situations where avoiding a K, even at the expense of power, is absolutely worth it. Oh, and get a couple better hitters for the middle of the lineup.
  9. The OP is literally about "making the team better" by "reallocating" Vazquez's salary. The post you quoted quite validly said "no. Don't reallocate. Add."
  10. I'd say a "run" would at least still be in progress.
  11. All that, and Baldelli somehow only turned that into 87 Ws. 6 games under what Pythagoras says they should have won. For the record, Seth's preseason poll of TD writers and staff had them overwhelmingly winning the ALC. Rocco isn't very good. It's that simple.
  12. Clearly urban legend. Willie Norwood didn't own a glove. Ba dum tschh
  13. Comparatively few balls in play result in double plays. Such a canard. It is ALWAYS better for a batter to put the ball in play rather than K. Even if once or twice a month that ball in play results in 2 outs. It's completely illogical to acknowledge K's are good for pitchers while denying they are inherently bad for hitters. As for "take better ABs," yeah. Of course. Don't swing at balls and put the barrel on strikes. And don't K. Good ABs don't result in Ks.
  14. I'd put Rocco ahead of Molitor. I think Molitor was exceptionally poor at handling a pitching staff. But as to the OP...he isn't.
  15. If course it's special. It's Minnesota...all the children are above average.
  16. Dusty wasn't pinch hitting for either Alvarez or Tucker. This isn't difficult. Theilbar was in to get through those two, 1 time.
