  1. 1. The premise of the article being based on "umpire score cards" off Twitter is questionable at best. There's an assumption of validity here that I don't think is warranted. It's not official and is based on pretty questionable assumptions. 2. On the larger subject of an automated strike zone, it's inevitable. It's coming. Personally, I don't think that's a good thing, but I realize I'm probably in a minority of fans with that opinion. I doubt it'll be much better, and I worry it'll change the game in subtle but negative ways. I find it interesting most player interviews one reads don't seem in favor. Maybe I'm missing some. It most certainly won't stop fans batching.
  2. Nitpic, but Gray's WHIP of 1.15 was 15th best in MLB. Tied with ... Pablo Lopez in fact. https://www.mlb.com/stats/pitching/whip?sortState=asc What was clear right from the 1st was -Houston was ignoring the fastball, sitting off speed, and -Gray didn't have his good "sweeper." Bad combination, and one you'd think both he and Jeffers should have recognized almost immediately.
  3. Well of course the gameplan is 5 or more. But they won't be making any decisions based on using Maeda and Ober yesterday. They certainly aren't going to let Ryan throw a single pitch because of lack of options. Ryan is out at the first sign of trouble, and a string of 1 inning appearances will begin. As they should.
  4. I try to always listen to the wisdom of Creed.
  5. "Frustrating..."
  6. I think the point would be to get yourself in front of that, rather than stand flat-footed and stick your glove out. I believe he had time.
  7. The key AB in the 1st wasn't the error on Alvarez. It was the hanging breaking ball to Abreu.
  8. Maybe rethink the "crowd him inside" plan to Alvarez. Then start considering driving in some runs on offense. Season rests on Joe Ryan.
  9. The postseason is where you don't gave a rat's *** about length in the pen. The post season is about this hitter. This inning. Seven 1-inning guys in a row if needed. And bring em all back tomorrow. You can't manage for tomorrow or next week in the post season. You need to win today. Who gives a **** about tomorrow? If you need length you probably lost anyway.
  10. And NOW Jax? Rocco, Rocco, Rocco. You're in over your head
  11. Gotta be Gray. Can't cough up a 4 spot top 1.
  12. So we carry all these pitchers and Bailey Ober is pitching on 2 days rest. Brilliant Rocco. Stunning.
  13. Alvarez just toyed with Ober. LOL. 2 strikes, and he just calmly got the bat on everything until he got one in the right spot. We don't have any hitters as good as the top 4 in Houston's lineup.
  14. At this point I pray we have to go back to Houston.
  15. He did hit it hard...and into the ground. Some bad luck, but part of pitchers getting GIDPs is the G. Ground ball. So it wasn't just purely bad luck.
  16. Getting something back, and soon, after that top 1 was crucial. The next run means a lot, and thr sooner the better.
  17. ? Routine 2 hopper right at the first baseman.
  18. I lost faith in Rocco long before today's game
  19. Kirilloff pinch hit for against a RHer. Rocco doesn't know WTF he's doing. If Solano is the better option, why didn't he start?
  20. Don't see Dusty sitting on his hands with a lead. Leadoff walk...H and R with 9 hole hitter. HOF manager. One area Houston Outclasses us
