To be fair, if the goal is defense to protect a lead, the one thing Santana brings to the table is good defense. And he's a first baseman, not sure how that's related to Buxton.

Julien can work on his defense all he wants, and it'll help, but the basic problem is "stone hands." And that's just about impossible to completely fix.
