Twins Minor League Report (5/10): Mighty Mussels No-Hitter!
PDX Twin replied to Steve Lein's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I was wondering how a pitcher got his uniform dirty! I figured he must have hit the ground in the celebration or something. But being a catcher make much more sense!- 15 replies

Astros 5, Twins 0, Verlander Dominates Hapless Twins
PDX Twin replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I almost never watch against the Yankees or the Dodgers. Maybe I won't watch the Astros either after last night. I just don't like to watch the Twins lose.- 23 replies

Astros 5, Twins 0, Verlander Dominates Hapless Twins
PDX Twin replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I thought I heard Dick say that he would play today. But I'll actually be surprised if that is true and (if he plays) even more surprised if he is still healthy by next week.- 23 replies

Miguel Sano: Boom, Bust, or Both?
PDX Twin replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Thinking about it, this is the piece that underlies my negative opinion of Sano. The good times are great, if infrequent. But the bad times are abysmal. Kind of a black hole in the middle of the lineup, sucking up outs for a week at a time.- 34 replies

Twins 4, A's 3: Bullpen Completes Sweep of Oakland
PDX Twin replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This A's team reminds me of Charlie Finley's A's teams from 1977 and 1978, after Jackson, Bando, Campaneris, Hunter, etc. had all left with the dawn of free agency. We used to go and watch the Twins play them in Oakland from time to time. They were brutal (but still managed to beat the Twins a few times when we went). Think about what would happen if the entire Twins team left all at once and the whole team was promoted from the minor leagues. That's what those teams were like.- 40 replies

Carlos Correa Avoids Broken Finger, Injured List
PDX Twin replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
"Fluff" schedule is a double-edged sword. At full strength, the team should be taking advantage of this to build their record and, we hope, a lead in the division. If they fail to do that, then the "non-fluff" part of the schedule that inevitably follows will threaten to drop us down the standings. -
Ryan Jeffers is a Top Ten Catcher
PDX Twin replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
76th percentile whiff rate and 11th percentile K rate. Unless I'm misreading the numbers (possible) somehow he is striking out a lot without swinging and missing a lot. This seems fixable. -
My time-addled memory is hazy, but I seem to remember plaudits for Bundy last week for having a terrible early inning and then going back out and eating up 3-4 more to save the bullpen. It didn't work out this time, but the manager had that precedent for thinking that it might.

Reevaluating Minnesota’s First Base Depth
PDX Twin replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Surgery for Sano is convenient because we don't have an automatic out in the lineup for a month or two. And Rocco doesn't have to deal with a grumpy giant in the dugout, as he would if he simply benched him.- 48 replies

The Next Twins Prospect Promotion
PDX Twin replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Yes, it all seems to depend on Correa, and he holds the option. Lewis is our shortstop next year if he leaves. If he stays, then we are still in a situation of great uncertainty because of his second-year option, but will need to find a place for Lewis if he continues to develop as he has recently.- 55 replies

I remember Wells vaguely from his time in the Twins' system, but I don't remember him getting that much attention. How high did he reach in the prospect rankings? Maybe mid-teens?

Somehow this list does not inspire a lot of confidence! Only Milton was a successful starter. Josh Winder, 2022 Devin Smeltzer, 2019 Andrew Albers, 2013 Anthony Swarzak, 2009 Benj Sampson, 1998 Eric Milton, 1998 Rick Lysander, 1983 Jim Roland, 1963

3 Takeaways from Tuesday's Wild Walk-off Win
PDX Twin replied to Melissa Berman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm sorry, but an .096 batting average is not modest. A .236 batting average is modest. A .196 batting average is simply poor. An .096 batting average is lower than many (most?) pitchers back in the days when we expected pitchers to bat. I'm ready to not have his automatic out in the lineup every time through.- 13 replies

So, the logical extension is to have Sano attempt to steal second with the bases loaded and wait for the opponents to mess up? (It might work against Detroit and Chicago.)

I've seen a couple of Kernels' games this spring and have been very impressed by Prato. He seems to have a good bat and even memorably stole home once. I don't remember seeing a lot written about his as a prospect. Can Seth or someone else fill me in?
