  1. I've already suggested Benoit, Cotts and Hawkins. If Terry Ryan had just listened to me, this situation would already be resolved! :-) If memory servers....... Doesn't Perkins typically wear out sometime around mid-August? Rodriguez would be a nice pickup, but he definitely wouldn't want to stay in that situation next year
  2. I'd really like to see Sano and Arcia back to back in the lineup, but Arcia needs to do a lot better to get the call.
  3. Jorge Polanco: I think it's a given he will hit. However, 6 errors in 6 AAA games? I think he's a future 2-bagger. With Dozier being extended and playing well, does Polanco have sufficient value to garner a quality RP?
  4. 50-50. Depends if Ryan can find a cheap, available RP.
  5. "We’ve heard suggestions that the Twins could be looking at bullpen upgrades, and Rosenthal confirms that is Minnesota’s focus." Twins also talked to Brewers about Neil Cotts, who is 35.
  6. Wow, after 7 games? Negotiate a fat contract after 7 games? How about wait half a season?
  7. I was thinking going the free agent route for a catcher. Then I looked at the ages of the 2016 free agent catchers. Almost all above 30, about the time you start worrying about wear and tear. Of the bunch, it looks like A.J. Pierzynski is the best hitter. Only option: PRAYER.
  8. Gary Gaetti was often referred to as a good "catch and throw guy". He had 4 Gold Gloves.
  9. 5 hours later and I haven't see a better answer. Rockies are in 5th place with a 35-48 record. Hawkins had a good year last year as their closer and frankly the Rockies are using younger pitchers this year. A deal could probably be made for very little. If nothing else, it buys some development time for those who have tried and were sent back down.
  10. I'm wondering if those young pitchers are feeling the weight of over-expectations and simply overthrowing. The Twins should keep the auditions rolling so we really know what they've got. Upon further review just ran across and interesting [and old] name: LaTroy Hawkins. What about it? At 42 he may have a little gas left in the tank.
  11. No question. From Bleacher Reports story on "MLB History: Five Impossible Statistics That Actually Happened" #1. Babe Ruth Hits More Homers than Any Other Team...Twice an old but fun story to read: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/666554-five-impossible-mlb-statistics-that-actually-happened
  12. The Twins seem to have accumulated more than a few ancient mariners :-) I'd probably be rotating them in and out, 2 at a time. And I'd definitely keep the auditions rolling. Twins need [and have the time] to find out what they really have. I'm also intrigued at the possibility of bringing up a Berrios, Rogers or Duffey just to get a look. Oh, and there's always Pelfrey. He still gets another chance as a started, but I think he's done.
  13. I would take a shot with Frasor, but you gotta know what you're getting. 37 yrs. old, 24 hits + 15 walks in 23 innings. I'd give him a shot. Same with Neftali Feliz.
  14. I don't know if I've seen another MiLB hitter come up and have AB's like Sano!
  15. 1. Biggest problem with the shortstops is the sporadic playing time they're getting. It's the classic hit vs. fielding between Nunez and D Santana. Escobar showed both last year and I still feel he should have been the shoo-in starter this year. 2. I like Rosario a lot. He looks like a classic LF'er, who is a good fill-in at CF. Hicks' stats don't show it, but he's performing a lot better at the plate. I think he may just needs more AB's. Buxton: AAA. He's got something weird going on with his swing. Hunter is solid and replaceable. If Arcia get's his head on straight, he may be the answer. 3. IMHO, May is in the pen for a very short time. Pelfrey is imploding, NY Mets-style. He gets 1 maybe 2 starts and he's out. Agree on Milone and Nolasco. 4. OMG.... If I'm in charge of a bullpen that's deeply into auditioning, everyone is on a short leash. After some success, they get 2 bad outings before they get sent down. Correct the problems at AAA.
  16. So now we're discounting scouting reports. Ok, I'm done.
  17. At the very least, it would be worth the conversation with Texas. A lower level prospect or 2 to take his $4.125M salary off the books? Maybe he isn't completely healed from the UCL tear? IDK
  18. I think you could balance out the outfield defense with Buxton/Hicks in CF and Rosario/Hicks in LF. Fast guys fast enough to cover 3/4 of the outfield and run to the wall in RF when a fly ball bonks Arcia in the head That being said, Arcia flat out needs to hit better than he has. The thought of a fully functional Arcia and Sano back to back in a lineup gives me chills. From another's post: Who is going to be our DH next year after Sano moves to 3B? I haven't seen much of Sano playing in the field, but scouts have said that his best position in the field is probably DH. From the orginal poster: For Will Smith Jonathon Lucroy I like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He raps happy!
  19. IMHO: Both are the classic definition of the 'hanger on' while Neftali Feliz has a recent history of success. However, I'd still continue the auditioning of the MiLB pitchers. You really need to know what you have...
  20. I'm with you on Parmelee. When he was given playing time, he produced. But the Twins kept moving him around, playing him in CF at times. Parmelee was lucky to get out of MN.
  21. 4 games, 15 AB's. I'm not remotely concerned about the HR's. I really like his approach at the plate and his attention to what's going on in teammates AB's. Now comes the big test: adjustments. Sano will start seeing a bevy of sliders. He seems to have the quick bat to be able to adjust.
  22. IMHO, no. Pelfrey started the year great, so Molitor is giving him some rope. After his triade during the game, Pelfrey has regressed to his NY Mets version. May is being kept close by [cough, cough, working long relief] to replace Pelfrey after he blows up in his next start.
  23. Still, there's some good things to look back on in this series. 1. Hicks isn't as bad a hitter as I previous thought. Although yesterday was an O-fer, he actually had good AB's especially late in the game against a lefthander. Had a dinger today! He may be getting it this time. 2. Ervin Santana. Great start. Too bad he got pulled. 3. gulp, I was wrong on Sano. He seems to get it. After a batter before him [Plouffe?] got a hit on the first pitch, Sano hit a double on the first pitch. Somebody was paying attention!! 4. I saw yesterday why everyone liked D Santana at short. Gods, what an arm! I remember 2 plays yesterday where the relay throw was late to Danny and he still almost threw out the runner at first. Impressive. Cheers
  24. Hey, not me! Always said should remain a starter. To be perfectly honest, with Molitor you sometimes have to read between the lines. i.e. he never viewed May as a relief pitcher and wanted to keep him ready for the rotation. Pelfrey gets 1 more chance, then May is back in.
  25. I've been waiting a long time to see Pelfrey pitch, especially after his recent outings. He is exactly as he was with the Mets: he teases for a few starts and them completely implodes. It starts with overthrowing, then he gets frustrated and has something like a mental breakdown on the field. Molitor looked like he could get him off the field soon enough. I think Molitor's statement that May's move to the bullpen made most sense for the short-term and sending May down "would be helpful in terms of keeping him ready to help us if something happens to one of our guys." I'm thinking short-term = Mike Pelfrey's next start. The "something happens" is Pelfrey imploding again.
