  1. The next time you see Molitor run out onto the field prior to the 5th inning to yank Pelfrey, then May is back in the rotation. I don't think Molitor has much patients for guys who throw temper tantrums like Pelfrey. Pelfrey to the pen.
  2. Here's a funny one: http://reviewingthebrew.com/2015/07/17/milwaukee-brewers-rumors-twins-interested-in-carlos-gomez/?utm_source=FanSided&utm_medium=Network&utm_campaign=RecentPosts THE TWINS ARE INTERESTED IN A TRADE FOR CARLOS GOMEZ !!!! Of course, this was posted by a Brewers fan site
  3. I'm thinking that at this point they should just send him home. Let him clear his head. Then send him to the winter leagues.
  4. Thanks for the update! I think we're already there with Meyer. Call this season a mulligan. I'd probably consider benching him the rest of the season to clear his head and then ship his butt off to the winter leagues.
  5. LOL, I can't find the original post to find who that catcher was. Anyway.... What I do remember is I looked up the number of innings he has played in recent years. It was very low.
  6. I did say "trying to"
  7. Well, 30 yrs old, but relatively low mileage over the past 3 years.
  8. It looks to me like Arcia is trying to reinvent himself: i.e. fewer K's, better all-around hitting, etc. However, defense will probably always be an issue. I can see him in a rotation with Hunter in RF and both of them in an extended rotation with Sano at DH [sano getting playing time at 3B].
  9. I've thought about this, too. With that many players playing same positions with different skill sets, it can only lead to multiple sets of rotations. Molitor seems to have clearly moved away from Gardy's "playing my guys" type of lineup.
  10. That's it right there! Suzuki is not a big guy, even though he's listed at 205. Catchers take a beating. There was only one non-hitting catcher that I've ever seen that was truly an "excellent defensive catcher": Henry Blanco. He was really something to watch.
  11. Very true. The Twins need to concentrate on finding the next catcher prospect for every MiLB level. Otherwise, they'll be doing what they are now: cherry-picking the waiver wires or other teams backup catchers to fill their starting MLB spot.
  12. Add-on comment :-) "Conclusion: The system has now peaked." Is it now the time to start moving out some of the 27+ year olds from AAA and be more aggressive moving younger [ by that I mean "current" ] prospects there?
  13. The cast of Kyle Cody keeps getting stranger. Earlier reports were he and some sort of physical injury, but no one said what. In the Strib, Ryan is quoted as saying "Ryan said there were no health concerns that affected negotiations." Despite prior reports that the Twins pulled an offer because of the fantom "physical injury". Cody made the smart decision: go back to Kentucky for his final year and enjoy life.
  14. It's not a measurable, but you can't discount the change in almost the entire coaching staff. Gardy was a dead-man walking and acted like it. All of the offensive stats seem to be pointing to one thing: they are most likely unsustainable.
  15. Well, it doesn't say what is wrong with him. The only real hint is: "Though Cody isn't physically injured, whatever turned up caused the team to drop their offer." Hmmmm......
  16. There is a dearth of catching throughout ALL baseball levels. I'd quickly trade anyone with value for the top level catching talent at ANY level. OK, maybe not top level players :-)
  17. Shane, Picking a couple of nits here :-) Why did you pick Buxton over Sano? I can believe it if you said, well Buxton is a 4-tool play and Sano is a 1-2+ player. I go by actual production and Sano took off in MLB from the very start. Buxton, not so much. How did you pick Wandy Javier as the #9 position player? He hasn't played in anything above high school or probably [ more likely ] one of the local MLB team supported leagues. Just curious.
  18. Major league pitchers get the ball over the plate more often than Minor league pitchers. Minor league pitchers are wilder.
  19. I remember Kennys wasn't on the prospect list. I'm not quite ready to give up on him. If it's an attitude issue, I'd stay out of the way and leave that to Mientkiewicz.
  20. The player I'm interested in is Walker. Is he another [more powerful?] Sano? I.E. MLB pitchers are easier to hit because AA pitchers don't know where the ball is going. Just looking at his stats [overall, good] the enormous amount of K's lead me to believe he hasn't quite got it yet. A Sept. MLB callup is possible. Sano needs to give him a call, first
  21. Interesting read. Doesn't have a lot of respect for what the Twins have done Is he saying what I think he's saying: i.e. the Brewers are looking for a trade partner that has an excess of starting pitchers? I'd give up E. Santana, Pelfrey, Meyer and 1 or 2 lower level OF's [ NOT ABW ] for Lecroy and Cotts.
  22. Fun fact on Walter Johnson: As hard as he is reported to have thrown [91mph in his day was unheard of], did you know he had a sidearm delivery?
  23. You are reading far to much into what I posted. I never said that. And never said he was a bad reliever. All I'm saying is [and by the stats you list], my opinion is 64% of Perkins saves are not worthy of a save. They're all more like Holds.
  24. Sorry, Nick. I'm just not a believer in the current version of the Save. I believe Perkins gets too many cheap saves. (i.e. #3a condition: He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning) To me, that's not "saving" anything. Make that 1 run and I'm a believer.
