  1. HAVING THE VALUE OF HINDSIGHT In this mornings Strib: "but Twins manager Paul Molitor said this move is more about circumstance than Buxton’s play. With Aaron Hicks sidelined by a sore elbow (he’s likely headed for the disabled list) and Torii Hunter serving a two-game suspension, a sudden shortage of outfielders prompted the Twins to debut the No. 2 overall pick from the 2012 draft." Down to 1 player on the bench, all Molitor had to do was call Terry Ryan. In that same article, Molitor had a lot of nice things to say about Buxton. And adds no small amount of caution. Oh yeah: MORE TRIPLES, PLEASE!
  2. Aaron's failure last night certainly didn't help his case at all I concede the point. I've always said that Hicks would not be successful in MLB, although I really hoped he could be. I think a change in scenery would be best for him. I still don't feel a need to bring up Buxton from AA, taking the same path as Hicks. Surely it would make everyone feel like Twins management is actually trying to win, but I wouldn't want to risk another "Hicks" situation. Send Buxton to AAA NOW and let's see how he handles advanced pitching!
  3. What's the rush? Aaron Hicks is already there in CF. After all the clamoring for him to get called up, is he no longer in the CF plans?
  4. 7 game hitting streak and he's taking some walks. If he keeps it up for another week, promote to AAA and see what he does against more advanced pitching.
  5. Ah, the week the Twins fell back to earth. This is not a contending team. However, they are competitive. That's a big step above the past 4 years. Frankly, after the 2nd 90 loss season, I'd have a tough time being excited to show-up for work. I think Allen is a refreshing change from Anderson and along with the maturing of May and Gibson the starting staff is now MLB competent.
  6. I'm a lot more conservative than most when it comes to bringing up guys from the minors: Keep both on the team, at their current positions. I wouldn't move anyone until I'm absolutely certain Sano can handle the big league job.
  7. Well, yes and no. Weaver turned his cap around so the bill of the cap wouldn't hit the umpire. Touching an umpire gets you a big suspension. Which makes the move even more Brilliant!
  8. According to Len3, "The Twins have 10 days to trade him, release him or send him to the minors." I'm very curious to see what management does. I can't see keeping Stauffer in the minors [potentially backing up the progress of younger pitchers with higher expectations], or trading Stauffer [are there truely THAT many suckers in the MLB world?]. If they release him, I'm assuming the Twins would still owe him the money. That out be an incredible turn around for Twins ownership. And I highly endorse it!
  9. HEY! I didn't know that. Thanks for the info!
  10. I really like your plan. I'm assuming you mean that you start the stretching out process while working him as a reliever, correct?
  11. IDK, maybe because in 2013-14 he put in a couple pretty good years when there wasn't much else around in the bullpen? :whacky028: :whacky028:
  12. "All-Star trade bait". I like it. As great as his year has been, there's always the injury question with Pelfry. If he's still producing a couple starts after the AllStar break, other teams will come a' knockin' !
  13. I'm going to agree with the others: In the minors, Correa and Bryant were significantly better than Buxton. Looking Buxton's game-by-game stats, he's profiling like a .265 hitter at AA. We'll see how it plays out the rest of the season. But that season looks like it'll be played out in Chattanooga.
  14. Here's the best part: Miguel Sano Min - 3B,SS 6' 4" 260lbs of Short Stop. Can't wait for the Sports Center video of him turning a DP
  15. Aren't those stats based strictly on MiLB stats? Unless there is a way to adjust to MLB pitching, those stats seem pretty irrelevant. There was one story [sorry, can't find that column again] on Sano's spring training BP homers. They were of minor league pitchers. A coach ordered Gibson in and Sano didn't get another hit. That's why I'm more of a mind to find out in AAA and fix there. If it's even necessary.
  16. IMHO, in that scenario, Sano will see a bevy of breaking balls and will be more of a "1 for 29" type than a difference maker.
  17. IMO, I don't think AL 3B is filled with elite talent. So I take Plouffe's ranking with a grain of salt. Plouffe is MLB average. Nothing wrong with that. I don't think either should be moved off 3B. At the end of the year, there are AB's available to each to get reps.
  18. Miguel has had a good month. And he's still learning how to play a premium position in third base. Why interfere with his development? If he continues at this pace in AA, he get's an Aug-Sept call up as a reward for his hard work and improvement. Next year, a taste of AAA.
  19. The heck with the pick. Chippewa Falls, WI. Home of Leinenkugel Beer!! Never too early in the morning to have another
  20. I thought the same thing. A little time to adjust at a new and better level of competition is expected. I looked up his stats over the last 6 games at Fresno: 22 AB's 9 Hits. A .409 clip. That's after a .385 clip at Corpus Christi. He's ready
  21. One of the knocks on Buxton was: of the "5 tools" the one most in doubt was hitting. He's hit .314 over, what, 4 weeks. Very nice. Does it make sense to bring him up now? Not if you're really comparing. Correa's stats at Corpus Christi were WAY out of this world. At AAA Fresno, solid. However, in his last 6 games, back out in the stratus sphere. Correa = No Brainer. Buxton = still needs work on his hitting. Not saying he can't do it. Let's see what happens in the rest of the AA season. Will he be like Correa or just another Hicks? I'm hoping for 2 things: 1. Buxton continues to grow 2. Patience.
  22. Terry Ryan said/says: 4/18 http://www.twincities.com/twins/ci_27943329/meyer-lacks-confidence 5/27 http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/The_mechanical_fix_the_Twins_want_to_see_from_Alex_Meyer_in_bullpen052715 Bullpen is temporary, only, to get him back on-track to be a front-of-the-line starter.
  23. Yup, you're crazy It's getting to the point where Arcia needs to start producing on a consistent basis. To that end, Paul Molitor pointedly talked about Arcia, Vargas and Sano in Spring Training and their approach in batting practice. They all need to stop hacking away.
  24. Had to highlight your points there. It's a GAME! Let's step back for a moment and just enjoy it! And I like your list. Ahem, that being said I'd add Escobar to the list. He is, right now, the Twins starting shortstop. Unless someone has a great spring training both at bat and in the field, Escobar is the starting SS next year. What is widely perceived as the shortstop of the future [Polanco] is at AA and just recently moved back to SS after time at 2B. No real need to rush. In the list of outfielders, my gut tells me that Eddie Rosario is the only option that has earned a job for next year. Let's face facts: he is the only one who has kept improving. I'd also consider adding Mike Pelfry. And before it starts: I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW! And I'll toss in a smiley face for good measure He hasn't performed at this level in the past AND will he get injured again. WHAT IF we're actually seeing the real thing? A guy who's actually figured out how to pitch? Maybe he belongs in the "Maybe list"?
