  1. What kind of leash does Correia have with the team? Another clunker and gone or another 2 or 3 clunkers till gone?
  2. Sadly, I agree with this about Correia, he will likely be in the rotation until at least the trade deadline, if not into August when he might be a waiver trade. Does anyone know if we could get a draft pick for him if he stays all year?
  3. I will take a low walk rate if we get to see the massive homeruns he is hitting. The one Wednesday night was huge, but the grand slam last night was one of the longest home runs I have seen at Target Field. To borrow from Bremer, it was Thome territory last night.
  4. I love the swagger, I particularly enjoyed his comment about his home run, where he said he was sure it was foul so he stood and watched. Then Nunez says, yeah he knew it was a home run. Some much needed fire for the Twins.
  5. So with Rosario now hitting .308 after his 1-11, how long until he moves back up to NB?
  6. Hmm interesting line-up, we have Santana leading off while playing yet again in CF.
  7. I agree, this team has the potential to stay around .500 for most of the season, but playoff baseball seems unlikely thus you should go ahead give some of the top guys in AAA a shot, to help their development for next year. Plus who knows, maybe one of the above mentioned guys comes up and continues like they are pitching in AAA and we steal a couple of extra wins over the course of the season.
  8. Like Brock said, I thought the first 3 too, however because of the requirement to pick one, had to go Mauer.
  9. Why not? They have put everyone else out there. All jokes aside, the Twins need his bat in the line-up, however he is put into it.
  10. Having Nolasco click would be fantastic, all of a sudden the Twins have 3 strong starters plus Gibson, who can be good when he is on, which will help bring the starter ERA down.
  11. I really enjoyed the breakdown Randball's post did of the types of pitches Hughes threw after the 1st and 2nd innings. That type of adjustment is key for him to continue to be successful. Having Suzuki catch Hughes and Hughes be successful is more important than getting another start catching for Pinto. Plus it appears to give the Twins a better chance to win.
  12. I think the fact that we can turn on essentially any game, and have a reasonable hope for a win is entertainment enough. Unlike last year when there were numerous days when I avoided checking the score because I knew it was going to be ugly.
  13. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20140528/phil-hughes-minnesota-twins-new-york-yankees/ SI has a story up about Hughes' transformation since coming to the Twins. A stat really jumped out at me, in May, Hughes has thrown 90 percent of his pitches as either fastballs or cutters. For much of his time in New York, Hughes said, his repertoire was a work in progress, as he struggled to supplement his fastballs with the breaking balls that he thought every successful starter needed. For a while, he was throwing a lot of curveballs; then he tried a lot of sliders. This year, though, especially after his first three starts, he decided that it no longer made sense to pitch in the way he thought an effective starter had to. Instead, Hughes figured that he might try pitching as he had during his most successful spell as a Yankee, back in 2009 when he was primarily a setup man to Mariano Rivera; in 44 games in that role that season, he had an ERA of 1.40 Read More: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mlb/news/20140528/phil-hughes-minnesota-twins-new-york-yankees/#ixzz3322fEpDm It is a nice article, hopefully Hughes can continue this success.
  14. Didn't I read somewhere that Rosario is going to start back at High A Fort Myers?
  15. Really this year, enjoyable baseball was my main hope, however a continued run at .500 would certainly be nice too.
  16. Not saying the Twins are going to make a run at the playoffs but remember the first year the Orioles returned to relevance, they played way above their Pythagorean record. So hopefully the Twins will continue to play above their Pythagorean record.
  17. I agree with you in terms of his average being up because of limited time. In terms of a trade of Corriea and Darnell for Ichiro, that seems like too much for at this point a back-up, even though Corriea isn't really worth much, this just seems like too much.
  18. I think unless Buxton for some strange reason misses the whole season, he is up by the All-Star break in 2015.
  19. Does anyone know if we get Darvish when we play Texas?
  20. Does anyone know how Meyer looked, looking at his line it doesn't look to bad, except for the 6 hits and 2 BB?
  21. I would love to see a sweep of the Yankees in NY. That would make me very happy. Anyone else despise the NYY?
  22. I agree completely. Santana needs as many reps as he can get at short and right now with Escobar playing well in the bigs, Santana would be much better off playing short everyday in Rochester so the Twins can figure out if he can be the shortstop of the future.
  23. Haha this is one of the better posts I have seen.
  24. Wow, I was not aware of this, I just remember all the "good" years where we couldn't beat the Yankees even with Johan at his peak and the numerous sweeps in Division Round playoffs.
