  1. I would trust baseball people too, just not the ones this organization employs starting with Zoll. This is still Falvey's people and they haven't had spectacular success over the last 6 years. Giving AB's to all these AAAA and past their prime vets is not helping the team contend this year and it is not helping set up them for future success. We will be having the same discussions next year at this time as our record will be around or below .500 if they continue down the path they have chosen.
  2. Wait so we don't know what we have for next year, At some point you have to push past 75 wins which will be a stretch this year and try to improve the team for the future. Culpepper learning what it takes to be successful in the major leagues this year helps more to improve the team next year than waiting for him to debut next year does.
  3. He would have to be added to the 40 man roster and I doubt they will add somebody for just a few days.
  4. He will have no trade value unless he hits .400 or better. He was signed to a minor league deal, a couple of months of moderate success is not going to turn him into a valued trade chip. Let's not make this move into more than it is.
  5. It will have to be Mendez or Gonzalez, as I doubt they will add anyone to the 40 man roster. But it won't matter because I doubt either one will get a chance to play.
  6. It was talked about on MLB yesterday that teams are bringing up their top prospects earlier because they feel they will develop better in the majors because of the lack of pitching in AAA. So are the Twins the outliers and if so why. As an organization they have not shown based on results on the field that they are head and shoulders above other organizations. Maybe they need to start trying to copy what others are doing and not always thinking they have the answers. Also if they want him to refine his defense at short, then play him there every game, don't move him around at all. Show a sense of urgency to get him ready. He is the top prospect in St. Paul, he should be the priority at short.
  7. But he has options, so we need that flexibility so we don't lose guys like Garcia, Banda or even Topa before today.
  8. Someone might want to let Zoll in on this little secret in relation to Culpepper.
  9. Let him work on his hitting right now, that is enough to put on his plate. There is no replacement for him at 3B if he comes back. Let's wait until somebody displaces him from 3B before there is talk about moving people around. I mean Culpepper may not even be up here until 2028 because you have to make sure he is ready and that probably won't happen until he is at least 25 or 26 years old.
  10. As I keep saying, there was no reason not to call up Culpepper. Zoll is showing the same tendency as Falvey that they favor the vets, mostly underperforming over the younger players. Even when they have been outplayed. ERod should have been with the team coming out of training camp, he outplayed Outman. And yes I know Outman had no options, teams cut players like that loose all the time. There are too many examples to list them all.
  11. Garcia, Banda, Rogers, Sands, Topa, even Orze is in his second full season. Where are you seeing inexperience in the bullpen, I see a bunch of washed up vets with experience.
  12. I am thinking it is more to keep Clemens and Bell in the lineup with Buxton at DH.
  13. At some point, they need to determine roles and run with them for a period of time. If it doesn't work, change it up at a point in time. Even Shelton has mentioned he would like to establish roles. It is hard to constantly try to match up, at some point you have to go with your best option for that situation. Even if the options are average at best. So give someone the 8th inning and someone the 9th inning and see what happens.
  14. Thank you for clarifying the status of Gray and Kreidler, I wasn't 100% sure. No minor leaguer is ever 100% ready to be called up, they are always going to have some degree of things to work on. I don't think he is that far off, so why not try and jnject some juice into the lineup and give fans some hope. Churning thru guys like Arcia and Gray is just leaving this organization stuck in neutral, going nowhere.
  15. I am not necessarily a fan of Bowman, but if you are going to call up Arcia based on AAA numbers why not Bowman. Garcia and Banda haven't exactly done anything to earn a roster spot. I would prefer the younger guys but if they are going to have guys with major league experience why not give him a shot.
  16. Topa has had one good year and last year was average and he is 35 years old. Four of his last 6 outings he has given up runs. I am not sure, this will be a huge loss to the bullpen.
  17. Lee has experience at 3B, it's not as difficult as they make it. If they want Culpepper to play at 3B, then have him play there every day for a period of time. It's the moving back and forth that is not helping the development of the players. There used to be a time when they would send a player down to change positions to give them time to get acclimated to it.
  18. Choose a position for him and let him get comfortable. This anyone can play anywhere is getting old. If it is shortstop and Houston or someone else comes along and is better, move him at that point. But choose a position for him, not everyone has to be a utility player.
  19. For a team that thinks they are contending they are not trading Ryan. They have bought into the notion that they are a contender, otherwise Culpepper would have been up here.
  20. Arcia would have to hit .400 to garner any interest at the deadline. The only interest in him this offseason was a minor league contract.
  21. I think it is being very optimistic hoping for a .230 batting average, I am thinking he will be closer to the rest of the lineup right around .200.
  22. I hope you are correct about Arcia because this roster doesn't have me real excited and I was hoping for some move that would generate a little buzz.
