  1. What is the true goal of this organization, if they think they can truly contend for the division then having Arcia on the roster can make sense to see if his numbers in St. Paul are a mirage or not They keep riding the fence and we truly don't know is it Zoll convincing TP that they can contend or is TP pushing down. We know the words TP has said but we don't know what is his reasoning or will we know. I don't think this team can contend and that should be driving the decisions being made going forward. And then that would not include bringing up Arcia. If you want to send Lewis down, bring up Culpepper and move Lee to third. Start looking at the other guys in St. Paul, find out what you have. I remember when the White Sox sold at the trade deadline, I don't remember the year but it wasn't too long ago and they were still reasonably in the wild card hunt at the time. They took a reasonable look at their organization and decided that they were not a contending team and made the appropriate moves to rebuild. IMHO the Twins need to do this as well. But I don't think Zoll is the one to lead the rebuild, that is the problem. They need to look for players and stop focusing so heavily on versatility and get quality players that can play. The rest will work itself out.
  2. They keep running Bell out there and batting him fourth, I know there aren't many options but he just isn't getting the job done. And this should come as no surprise.
  3. There was nothing wrong with his positioning, the runner had space, he just didn't get his foot all the way over. The bashing of Lewis while some is deserved is getting over the top.
  4. Morris if used in a one inning role will be effective. Gomez has pitched 2 innings, let's see what he can do, at least he is younger. Rojas is the long man and will be the first to go back to St. Paul when he either throws too many pitches or they need another fresh arm. The 30 somethings are all basically cooked and it had nothing to do with the weather, they are not going to get major league hitters out on a consistent basis at this point in their careers. The reality is they did nothing to rebuild the bullpen and they are not taking any actions to develop any relievers in the minor leagues either with every one pitching bulk roles. So we will have to hope some waiver wire claim will stake a role in the bullpen but that is a low percentage of happening.
  5. Don't hold out hope for Bell to be traded. Washington tried that last year and no one wanted him, he does not have much value around the league. Outman's role is not needed for a team in the Twins spot. They need 13 position players to contribute in all facets of the game.
  6. I am glad Outman is having a good game, but one game should not dictate more playing time. He has done nothing to earn it, this is what a bench player should do, help the team when you get a chance. Morny stating that Shelton said he might get more time with Wallner going down, then I want Wallner back over Outman.
  7. You have a 6 run lead, go at the hitter, don't nibble, I like it.
  8. Outman has his first RBI of the season, that should buy him another two months on the roster.
  9. Come on Bell, help your believers out and give them reason to continue justifying your spot on the roster.
  10. And yet no one wanted him last year at the deadline, so I would not hold out hope we will have any better luck.
  11. He's almost 34 years old, he is who he is, a streaky hitter who is probably on the downside of his career. And no demotion even if possible is going to fix that.
  12. I do not want to see Gray, Kreidler and Clemens all on the same roster. That is three utility players with limited upside. Let's push for quality not quantity.
  13. It is hard to defend Lewis and his play right now. But Arcia is putting up good numbers in a hitter's league and lesser competition. He has had very pedestrian stats the last few years in the major leagues. So he might be an upgrade, I am not sure how much of one. I also would only move Lee for Culpepper. If Arcia or one of the AAAA guys moves into the starting lineup, it needs to be at 3B and not SS.
  14. Further proof that Outman should not even be on this roster, he was supposed to be the backup CF.
  15. Making moves for the sake of making moves isn't a good thing. Bringing up Kreidler and sending Adams down doesn't help the team in the present or the future. Make strategic moves to help the team now with an eye on the future, those are the moves that should be made.
  16. They need to get away from this bulk pitcher strategy. They are not stretched out enough to be a starter if they get called up. Look at the Saints roster now without Matthews, they don't have one true starter on that roster. They are all bulk guys. Make a decision on these guys, either prepare them to be a starter or reliever. They can still pitch 2 to 3 innings as a reliever, but start preparing them to be ready for a role when they come up.
  17. I think he is a perfect change of scenery candidate. His time with the Twins has to be over and not be counted on going forward. I still think there is something there but it is not going to happen with the Twins. He is not young anymore, let's move on. Keep him in AAA and either trade him for a bucket of balls or release at the end of the year.
  18. Bringing Zebby up and and sending Wallner are good moves. The corresponding moves are not, Kreidler needs to be here only if there are 4 or 5 injuries. Bring up Fedko or even Sabato at this point, see what you have going forward. Kreidler is not the answer. And why is Adams going down, I would rather have him on mop up duty in a future game than Garcia. This organization needs to be honest with itself and realize they are not a contending team and make moves accordingly. Not keep running these AAAA types and washed up pitchers out there.
  19. I am not sure how you can say Royce has lost his position to Gray. He sat for two games which was intentional for a reset and last night. Other than that he has been playing every day. Should he lose his position is a different question. If he does it should not be to Gray. I would prefer he lose it because Culpepper is called up. Arcia should be the only other option, he at least has a track record in the major leagues even though it has been pretty weak over the last few years. Gray and Kreidler should not be considered for any regular AB's, call up the prospects before that happens. We can't keep wasting AB's and innings pitched on players who have no future with this team.
  20. There is no one to call up for Sim, all they have is bulk guys except for Zebby and it sounds like they won't even call him for tomorrow. They need to develop some starting pitching.
  21. The role that Outman is holding down is not necessary for this team, roster a player to not play is ludicrous. Before the injuries to the OF's in St. Paul, they could have called one up and there would have been plenty of AB's to split between Larnach, Wallner, Martin and whichever prospect between the corner OF spots and DH. They all could be playing 4 to 5 days a week, it just means Bell is at 1B which is what he was signed for.
  22. Garcia shouldn't even be on the roster.
