  1. Why let your best hitter hit in this situation. I know that Caratini and Clemens are superstars but why leave Jeffers on the bench.
  2. No one will want him. Last year, the Nationals couldn't find anyone to take him and I don't believe his market will be any better this year.
  3. This is who Bell is now at this point in his career. But he was our big money signing so we think he will be a core player and he's not. He should be hitting 6th or 7th but with this team he hits cleanup.
  4. Bell has four strikeouts so far tonight and he will be in the lineup again tomorrow probably hitting fourth.
  5. To win one or two more games over the rest of the season, no thank you. This season is toast, let's start playing for the future, now is the time. No more washed up veterans wasting AB's.
  6. And in the last two years he hit .218 and .202 with an .625 and .529 OPS. Maybe it's the level of competition and playing in a hitters league that is helping those numbers.
  7. Gray is right where he should be, on the bench.
  8. They limited their options by signing him if they don't resign Jeffers.
  9. He's not that strong behind the plate either, he hasn't caught more than 100 games since 21 and there is a reason for that.
  10. So who is still excited to have Caratini as our number one catcher possibly as soon as August and next year catching over 100 games.
  11. But we lead all organizations in home runs at all levels. And look at our record, and in the minor leagues the best team is two games over .500.
  12. Why do you have to play him in the first place, let's set our expectations a little higher than that.
  13. I am sure glad we signed Bell to be our primary DH and bat him fourth, that was money well spent.
  14. Yeah Kreidler with his career BA of .144 would make a great secondary leadoff guy.
  15. They have determined he is a platoon player and that Clemens should be in the lineup over him. This is pure lunancy.
  16. This team is going nowhere and they need to be honest about that internally. To keep giving AB's to these AAAA types is only keeping the team stuck in neutral going nowhere. They made the decision to have Lewis as their third baseman this year, either replace him with a meaningful upgrade or ride with him. I have lost patience with the team at this point, they need to know what they have in the younger players on both the position side and pitching side and make the necessary real improvements in the offseason.
  17. He will start and go three innings because he is not stretched out. Then it will probably Adams, then we will have the St. Paul shuttle to get some 30 something relievers up here.
  18. Now we are going to see the negative impact of this 4 x 4 plan. They have nobody ready to come up and give any length to replace Bradley. So it looks like Rojas will get the start and hopefully go 3 innings. Then probably Adams or Morris for 2 or 3 innings. Then the St. Paul shuttle will begin again because they will need arms in the bullpen. In the meantime they will continue to trot out Garcia, Banda and Topa.
  19. That is a very small sample size for Gray and Kreidler and they are not going to help us win any more than Lewis in the short term. So I would look at the long term and Lewis has a better chance of helping us in the long term. He was doing better before he went on the IL, I would roll with Lewis.
  20. While I agree with what the Guardians did, I don't think a Lewis move as you describe is comparable. The Guardians are bringing in a viable replacement for Naylor. If the Twins want to replace Lewis it needs to be with Culpepper not below replacement players like Kriedler or Gray.
  21. They have yet to commit Morris to a bullpen role. He has pitched nearly 3 innings or more in each of his outings. His last outing was his shortest but he probably should not have been used for another day. This is the whole point of the article, they will not commit any of these bulk guys including Morris to one role or another, they just keep straddling the fence.
  22. If they truly believe any of their bullpen pieces will have trade value then they should be fired immediately. It is one thing to state belief in them, what else are they are going to say. But if they truly believe there is value then we are in even worse shape then I thought. The longer they wait for the youth movement, the longer it will take to know what they have and this rebuild will be going into 2040. I don't really care what Shelton thinks, his job is to play the players given to him. If he truly thought this was going to be a team to compete when he took the job then he needs to be gone as well. They have to at least privately acknowledge where they are at regardless of what the standings say and take the appropriate steps to rebuild this team to a true contender.
  23. Why pitch to Ramirez in that situation, make Hoskins beat you.
