  1. Watkins should have seen him slow up and not sent him as well. I think this one is on both Clemens and Watkins.
  2. We nabbed a reliever out of the vaunted Dodgers bullpen. Don't know how Falvey pulled that one off.
  3. Who is he taking out of the lineup for Kiersey. There are no other real options. Now if you want to question why he is on the roster that is a reasonable question. Even though he hasn't really been given a real chance at any AB's this year. I am rather neutral on him, but I really don't want France or Gasper in the lineup.
  4. Gasper needs to be in AAA where he belongs. He has no position he can play and he can't hit. Bring up Martin or Julien to replace, there is more potential upside with them.
  5. They need to figure out where they want the players to play. Right now Lewis is at 3B and I don't see them moving him. Lee needs regular reps and AB's at one position, right now that should be 2B. They keep moving him around, let him get comfortable and see what he can do. Not every player is a utility guy.
  6. Lewis is just starting to hit and get his legs under him and you want him to sit. I don't understand that rationale at all. What good does that do for the team moving forward.
  7. Clemens will be 30 early next year. I think he is a good bench player with a specified role, not an every day player. June he was horrible and he has picked up in July. But there was a reason he was available as a DFA. But playing France over any of the younger players is borderline insanity. And I would rather give AB's at !B to either Julien or Sabato. See what they can do over the last two months and learn where the holes are for next year.
  8. This team raised the white flag on the season on Monday by trading Paddack, which I agree with. So now you find out what you have in players who might have a future with the club. France shouldn't even be on the roster much less starting in this scenario. He has been basically a replacement level player. The same stats he has this year got him released last year by Seattle. They need to find out if Lee can be a part of the future, put him at one position and let him play every day. This board has no patience for any of the younger players but yet guys like France, Bader, Clemens, Castro should never come out of the lineup despite results. It would be nice to have higher expectations of this club. If the prospects or younger players can't do the job then move on and bring in quality replacements. But bringing in stopgap veterans and playing them no matter how poorly they play is getting old and gives no hope for the future.
  9. You are missing the point, Lee should have been in the the starting line up and France comes in for an injury only.
  10. But Lee was not in the starting line up and it was basically France instead of Lee.
  11. I am sure glad France was in the lineup over Lee tonight. Rocco is just a genius.
  12. And for him to not make major moves, just sell the free agents. I don't trust Falvey and the direction he may set for the team.
  13. And he can only go four innings in an outing so he would fit in just fine.
  14. They are basically doing this with every pitcher now. The Saints announcer a couple of weeks even commented that the Saints only have bulk pitchers, they don't have anyone to go just one inning in a save situation. But remember Falvey is smarter than the rest of baseball, I see a World Series title in the very near future.
  15. Rocco doesn't have any faith in his offense either, playing the infield in during the third inning in a tied game. At least it was tied at the time.
  16. He has never thrown more than 59 pitches, so I am sure this will be his last inning.
  17. They are reinventing how pitchers are used. It is better to give them 4 innings at a time and not develop any starters just bulk guys.
  18. He is a DFA candidate, if somebody trades for him they should be fired.
  19. Gasper is still here and France is in the lineup for Lee. What is the organization's objective, it would appear that by trading Paddack when you are short starters you are selling. Then why is Gasper on the roster and even France. If you are selling get the younger players in and see what you have now, not a week from now or two weeks. Lee needs regular AB's and when you have France starting over him, you just wonder what is the direction.
  20. Then Falvey should have been fired three years ago. If the players are not good enough they should be trying to upgrade the talent, not signing a Ty France.
  21. The Red Sox don't seem to be too concerned with facing a bullpen game. They put in their best lineup and don't worry about what hand the pitchers they face throw with. The Twins organization should take note, but doubt they will.
  22. That is the argument but it is not about averages. Right now the Twins are not stretching out any of their pitchers in the minor leagues at the top two levels. Name one other team that is doing that. They were quoted as saying that they are doing something new in the minor leagues with the pitching model. Last night Detroit had a pitcher in his second major start go 7 innings and face 24 batters and there are plenty of other examples. So I believe the Twins are doing this to a greater degree than other teams.
  23. The Twins have stopped developing starting pitchers. Look at the box scores, every "starter" in AAA and AA is going 3 or 4 innings and throwing 60 to 70 pitchers. Then they bring a bulk pitcher in after that to do the same. The Saints announcer made mention of this a couple of weeks ago, they don't have anyone that goes just one inning, they are all bulk guys. And now you have these guys coming up but the rest of the pitching staff isn't constructed to support this model. At some point Falvey has to realize he isn't the smartest man in baseball and stop trying to reinvent the wheel. It's one thing to tweak things, but he keeps trying to keep changing how things are done. Well you need to win if you are going to do this and the results have not been there.
  24. I am so excited, we have Tonkin back. Is there really no one else that could provide the same production with more upside that could be called up.
  25. For the month of July since Lewis has been back, he has started 12 games, 7 at 2B. Again give him some regular run and consistency and see what happens; I don't disagree his hitting is concerning but what happens with some consistency and regular play. June he played fairly well with regular playing time. At some point they have to decide who has a potential with the team and find out if they can be a contributor. The team is going nowhere and to keep playing the stopgap veterans is not leading to winning or to improving the team for the future.
