  1. Why wait for next year, start evaluating what you have in St. Paul now so you know where you need upgrades for next year. Attebery had a great comment on the radio side tonight, he said it is hard to score run when you have at least three guys in your lineup who should be the 26th man on your roster. And what he didn't mention is that we have three guys sitting on the bench that should be the 26th man on your roster. So we basically wasting 5 roster spots. I am not bashing Clemens, I am bashing the Twins organization for this cluster of a roster that is forcing these guys to get regular playing time.
  2. At some point there is something off with the development of these players. Not every young player who comes up and has success should be going backwards. But that is happening with our young players. Yes baseball is a hard game, but players on other teams are figuring it out, why can't our players.
  3. He was a DFA pickup and is 30 years old with limited upside. He will go on a hot streak for 7 to 10 days, then you have to live the flyouts and strikeouts. No one else to this point in his career thought he would be beneficial as a starter to help their team. Let's try and raise the bar of expectations for this team.
  4. That's my point, if he is a starter then we are going nowhere. He is not a starter on a winning team, so put him in the role he should be and try to move this team forward. Or else, we will be in the same spot next year at this time not know who our first baseman is.
  5. Yes playing 2 to 3 days filling in as needed, that is his value, not playing every day. And he has not been a league average player in his career, but I would be fine with him as a role player.
  6. The White Sox had 8 players under 26 in their lineup yesterday, it seems to be working for them.
  7. In what way has he earned regular playing time, He had one good 7 day stretch which is his history. Can we maybe ask for more.
  8. In fairness to him, we do not know if he has been asked to play 1B or move off 3B, so everyone on here is speculating including myself.
  9. I don't think he has an attitude problem, I know he needs to probably keep his mouth quiet at times. But usually we complain when someone gives the cliche answers, he wears his heart on his sleeve. I personally would like a little more balance. Even when he was struggling, he seemed to be cheering on his teammates, genuinely happy when they made big plays and was always smiling. So I am not sure his teammates feel the same way even though we will never truly know.
  10. The whole roster construction is so out of whack. The two guys that are supposed to be up here as backups to Buxton don't play in the field for him. They treat Clemens as a core player, he needs to play 2-3 days a week. We still don't know completely what Martin can do, so I can live with his down streaks. But we do know what we have in Clemens, Gray, Kreidler, Arcia and Outman. I would just like to see some sort of plan, because if this their plan, then it isn't really a plan.
  11. The obsession with Clemens continues, hitting 3rd and playing CF. Again why are Kreidler and Outman even on the roster if you are going to play Clemens in CF. His OPS has dropped .70 points in the last ten days. He had his hot streak and now is coming back to reality.
  12. I would like to see more than 1 week, but if he keeps up this level of performance they are going to have to make a decision. Is it because of AAA pitching or is he ready to face major league pitchers again. He does appear to be more settled in the batter's box in the AB's I have seen. I still am wondering what happened after the injury, he was actually looking better at the plate and the results were there before he got hurt. How does he just fall off the table after only being out 10 days, that is just baffling. As far as changing positions, I think there are a lot of assumptions being made on here. I think the 2B move was mishandled and his actions afterwards showed he was open to it. But at some point you need to give him a position so he can try and master it. It feels like they never have committed to a position for Royce since they signed Correa. And yes he loses his leverage if he doesn't improve his hitting but I think the talent is there and hope it shows up with the Twins.
  13. Lewis has had just over 200 games at 3B, just over a season's worth, I would give him more time to improve his defense. Any lineup with Kreidler and or Gray as regulars is doomed to mediocrity.
  14. Who else do they have if Rojas is hurt and needs to go on the IL. Right now he is the 6th starter and there is no one ready in St. Paul. So we are stuck right now until some guys get healthy.
  15. This was a self inflicted wound that did not need to happen. They decided to push everybody back a day and than Rojas came up with the bad elbow, when their bullpen was already stretched. Sim is our 6th starter especially if Rojas ends up on the IL. They need to get some length out of guys in St. Paul to be ready if needed.
  16. I like your thoughts, but Bell should be at 20% and Clemens as a bench piece playing 3 or 4 days would be a more valuable player.
  17. I forgot that he was on rehab, yes he would be more preferable.
  18. Why not give Fedko a shot, he can't be worse than Outman and he has at least played CF in the minors unlike Clemens. What do we have in Sabato, don't you want to know if you have something at some point. Would he be worse than Bell Otherwise we are going to see the same type of roster next year, just different names. This roster is not constructed, be honest and make moves to move forward. And don't rely on depth guys to fill the 26 man roster next year. Those are just two examples, of course Culpepper is another that should be up here.
  19. Morris is supposed to be a one inning guy, not a long relief, so do you want him available Saturday or Sunday in Pittsburgh, you pull him now.
  20. It would have to be Fundy, Klein would be the only other 40 man option and he threw 60 pitchers on Tuesday.
  21. SWR is a bulk guy, like they want everyone to be.
  22. Yes because no young players ever come up and have success. Let's ask the White Sox how that works out. Every player in their lineup is 26 or younger except for Grichuk and Martin. Yes our way with six players over 30 is working so well for us.
  23. As opposed to watching the aging vets and AAAA guys flail away. At least there could be some upside with the kids, there is none to this roster as constructed.
  24. They do not seem to have faith in Kriedler, he was beat out by Gray coming out of spring training. They started Clemens in CF last night over Kreidler which is supposedly his reason to be up here as another option for CF. There was another game it would have been logical to start him and he didn't. So why is he even on the roster other than being a body.
