  1. I understand why you are not counting the statics from the franchise founding Washington Senators for this article. However The Senators/Twins franchise should be recognized more as one franchise in articles here at TD. It is our heritage. I know that for most Twins fans, life began when the Senators moved to Minneapolis...but I am not one of those fans. My fandom involving this franchise began 1953 in Washington DC, when my brother and I rode a trolley to Griffith Stadium with our grandfather to see the Senators lose to the Detroit Tigers. I quickly became interested in the Senators' fascinating history and players like the Big Train (most shutouts in a major league career),the Walking Man ( behind only Barry Bonds, Ted Williams and Mark McGuire for the most walks in a season with 151), Little Potato (he had a devastating curve, was a seven time All Star and is in the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame, as well as the Twins HOF), Heinie, with a .336 batting average during his time with this franchise and a Hall of Famer, Joseph Ignastius, a Hall of Famer, who held many American League records at first base at the time of his retirement, Hall of Famer Sam, who averaged 202 hits per season from his age 30 to age 40, and Hall of Famer Goose, who topped 100 RBI's in 11 seasons and batted .316 for his career, Hall of Famer Bucky, Manager Cookie, Clark, Papa Joe, who was one of the first to recruit Latino players for the major leagues, and don't forget Cecil, who led the league in 1941 with 215 hits, but had his career severely impacted by frostbite he suffered in WWII. There were many other notable players and contributors for this proud franchise. We have a long history It deserves to be remembered.
  2. I was thinking of posting something like this yesterday. No, really.
  3. Great use of the boxing analogy. That is also true in wrestling and in the courtroom in trials and in politics.
  4. I 'm sorry to say this, but Matt Wallner leads the major leagues with 31 strikeouts in only 65 at bats. That means there has been a 48% chance Matt will strike out during his at bats. He only has 5 walks and is hitting at a .200 average. The next highest in strikeouts is Nick Kurtz, with 27 strikeouts and also batting .200, but with 16 walks. Wallner's 3 solo home runs and 6 RBI's do not make up for leading the majors in strikeouts. Something needs to change here.
  5. Speaking of the concerns about the bullpen, I like the idea of bring up Morris to see what he can do. There are additional pitchers in AAA who can also be brought up for bullpen relief. Five Saints pitchers are on the 40 man roster. While I realize that the Twins will need some starters from the minors eventually due to injuries and/or ineffective results from the Twins current 5 starters, not all Saints starters will be needed as starters for the Twins. For example Raya and Klein and possibly Prielipp could be used at relief if this season gets into a real pennant race for the Twins. This leaves Mathews and Rojas as starters at St. Paul. Also keep an eye on Castro, Gallagher and Culpepper at Wichita. My point is that there are some pitchers (starters and relievers) at AAA and AA in the Twins system who can throw heat and strikes.
  6. I am not a follower of Donald Trump. I have participated in several no kings rallies and am disgusted with what he and his followers have done to our country and the world. I would like to know what most Brazilians feel about the United States now and about the folks our citizens have elected to represent us.

I don't know how private it is at the profile place? I sent you a message. Check the top of the front page, there is an envelope icon next to the notification bell icon.

  7. Doc, I did not intend for my post to read as if I were saying Brazil was a prison or not a wonderful place to be. I was just trying to be funny by implying that you had been locked up in jail for a crime. I have read my post again and I realized it really wasn't funny and may have insulted Brazil. I assure you that was not my intention. I apologize for my indiscretion. .
  8. This is interesting to me. I know we are not a political discussion platform, but I am curious to know what most Brazilians feel about the turmoil here in the "City on a Hill" as Ronald Reagan called the USA, and which originated in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. I feel so disappointed in my country's leaders and those who voted for them. Maybe you could send me a private message, if you want to or reply to my email: cdbenbow4@gmail.com.
  9. Great information. I imagine Shelton's allowing the starters to go deeper in the game, is a good confidence booster to the starters and also to the rest of the team too. The better you produce, the more you will play. Results driven rewards breed success. Noted psychologist, B.F. Skinner, would have agreed. Positive rewards, lead to positive achievements. Rewards can be money, compliments, or even more playing time.
  10. Wow, so you are in Brazil! This amazes me. I'm in my little home office in Statesville, Nort Carolina, USA, communicating with a friend in Brazil about our favorite baseball team. Doc I always appreciate your thoughtful posts. Keep up the good work and don't be a stranger. Best regards, David
  11. Welcome back from Brazil Doc. Were you able to escape, or did your sentence just time out?
  12. Salvador Perez is in third place for the most home runs in Target field with 23.
  13. Great post. Let's celebrate the effort. Thanks T & R.
  14. The Twins are tied with Cleveland for the best record in the American League. Yes, you read it here first.
  15. I would have chosen my lefty grandson pitcher, Jacob Benbow, who was 10-0, 0.87 ERA, and 91 K's in 54 innings at Greensboro, N.C. Grimsley High School last year. However on April 3, 2026 he just had surgery on his left shoulder for a torn labrum. (OK, OK, I admit I may be a little prejudiced.) I also want to point out how much Jacob appreciated Wichita Surge pitcher, Rickey Castro, who I met at spring training this spring, reaching out to Jacob and wishing Jacob a quick recovery.
  16. Yes, you are the grand prize winner. You have won a free night in a hotel in Cleveland. The second place winner has won 2 nights in a hotel in Cleveland.
