  1. Brutal...just brutal watching May pitch these days. He's taking the Wally Hildenberger ride.
  2. Ouch...I had to step away for a bit and next thing I know we lost.
  3. I don't think anyone who follows this team is buying that pile of dung.
  4. I just want to hear the managers post game comments. The temptation would be to go off, but I would guess he will show restraint - "capable of playing better"..."need to regain some focus"..."stop trying to fool batters with curve balls"...ok maybe not that last one.
  5. Say hello to our first 3 game losing streak! and we did it in magnificent fashion.
  6. Think Rosario will start using 2 hands?
  7. We are playing like the Mets normally do and they are playing like us.
  8. OMG! Now it's time for a team talk.
  9. Trevor May and his curve ball...when the other team is loving it, he should not.
  10. He won't but he's in the process of changing his swing. One positive is that he isn't chasing as many balls outside the zone as he is waiting a bit longer due to a shortened swing. Even Tiger Woods had to change his swing.
  11. Two reasons. First, with so many teams in the running for playoff spots, we would giving away a young guy that can bang out 40+ for what would probably be a half year rental. Second, we would be giving away a young guy that can bang out 40+.
  12. I would like to point out that the strikeout pitch to Encarnacion (whatever his name is...the chicken wing guy) was framed nicely while bringing it back into the zone for the umpire.
  13. Kind of feel like this is a series that the Indians have to sweep and we are the ones who really can afford to win 1 of 3 and be fine. It's nice to be on the opposite side of that equation once. If we lose a game in the standings....meh. No biggy. If we lose 3 games in the standings, it's a bit of a wake up call. If we come out of this with a series win and increase our lead, then let's see the Tribe scramble for the fire exit.
  14. I was kind of relieved that the thumping happened. Kind of like too good to be true finally met a bit of reality...it can be humbling. The reality is that over the course of the season, the cream rises to the top but can still be whipped (get the pun there?)
  15. I concur that Trevor will not be back this year. At this point, how do you trust him in any kind of a leveraged situation? Given that there will be quite a few sellers this year who do not have an MLB franchise in Minnesota and that the Twins do have some cards to play, why would you bring him back up unless we were hit with a pile of bullpen injuries?...which also doesn't seem as likely as it was in previous years. Early last year, Trevor struggled and his breaking ball frisbeed across the zone and got whacked. He modified something last year in the minors to make his breaking ball move down and out to a righty instead of floating across the zone. Could he make the necessary changes to get that movement back? Sure...but this year's Twins are in a different position than last year's Twins and that is why I don't see him back.
  16. At this point in the season, you can start comparing our stats to other teams as many of them have played the same teams. Although sometimes it isn't so much who you play as much as when you play them. As much as I love this team, Houston is still the best team in baseball at this point in the season based on stats, but we are in the mix and we all know that the season is long and injuries happen. We need to pad our lead in the Central, let other teams sell off, pick up another bullpen guy or starter if someone goes down, and then finish strong. Playoffs are playoffs...anything can happen.
  17. I think one of the best things about this year is that we are still flying under the radar. We have a 3 game lead which is the largest in the majors (granted 3 games is nothing), we are 9 games above .500, and we have a better record than Houston...and no one is talking about us. Cleveland gets press...apparently, the writers think they just need to get healthy and then the division is theirs. Meanwhile, we have what I think is the best OF in the majors. Polanco is tearing it up. Pitching staff looks great. Bullpen is pretty solid. Defense is pretty solid...oh yeah, and we are knocking the cover off the ball....shhhhh! Let's keep sneaking up on them for the ambush.
  18. Marwin had 2 putouts from left field in one game againt the Yankees. I think he can serve as 4th OF, so I see Cave being sent down first. Who's next? Well, with the staff pitching pretty well, I think 13 in the pen is probably not necessary.
  19. I think it was Schoop that didn't come close to swinging and got rung up without an appeal. Shortly after that our catcher appealed to first on a check swing and didn't get the call. That got me thinking - I would like to see is the percentage of successful appeals for visitors at Yankee Stadium vs. other stadiums. I hate Yankee games...they are practically unbearable to watch...every count seems to go to 3-2. I can watch about 4 innings before I get bored and fall asleep. The games just drag on.
  20. I thought initially that the Yankees looked afraid of us....and then they realized that we are still afraid of them. Well, I hope we bounce back strong from this clunker.
  21. “If you want to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best. For a couple of years, [the Astros] have been the best, but we believe we’re the best now,” said second baseman Jonathan Schoop. At first, I thought that was a little too cocky...it's early. But then I thought that swagger is exactly what the Twins have been missing. I think we need that attitude no matter who we play.
  22. Currently, even with the 11-0 whooping, we are tied for runs scored in this series at 14. I'd like to see us outscore them for the series.
