    Well, there's the 5 of that 5-3 loss I predicted. Not a lot of room for error the rest of the game. Hope that was first inning jitters. Also, would like to see Morrison get a hit today to get him going, but no DH today.

    I've been married for almost 22 years and my wife thinks I'm the stupidest man on earth. I'm content to let her think that because I figure if her expectations remain low, it's tough for me to disappoint.

    ERA is a meaningless stat too. Depends on the quality of the defense behind the pitcher. All hits are not created equal. The fly ball that falls in front of Grossman for a hit would get caught by another outfielder, and yet it counts as a hit the same as the line drive up the middle.

    Given the popularity of baseball in PR, I don't think I'd hold off on getting tickets.

    Simma down people! It's one game and a good competitive game on the road. Remember a few years back when we started of 0-9 and were not at all competitive in those 9 games? And yet that team came back to be competitive! We are light years ahead of that team. We were one great catch in the outfield in the 2nd inning away from winning the game. Rosario hammered that into the wind and got robbed by a great catch. Great AB by Kepleroni! That was a mature at bat. As these young guys mature we are going to witness something amazing. Go Twins!

    MLB gamecast has us lining out sharply to the outfield a lot...anyone watching? Are we stinging the ball?

    I like the guy. My kid has his autograph on a baseball, so selfishly, I want him to stay a Twin. I don't trust Polanco or anyone on the farm as the guy to jack 30+ dingers, so replacing that offensive output isn't something that will be easy to do...but baseball is a business and the logical side of me knows that it makes no sense to extend him for more that 2 years max and pay him a lot of money that could go toward another resource. I would think that most professionals like Dozier understand this. I wish him luck in free agency. I think he's from Georgia, so I hope that Atlanta pays him a pile of money to go play in the NL so we don't have to face him!

    I think every team thinks they are in "win now" mode. To me, the interesting part of this season revolves around the in division games. There have been years in the past when the Twins were clearly not the superior team and yet won the in-division series. The same could happen this year vs. the Pale Hose, Royals, and Tigers. We need to win against those teams. We can't afford to split the season series 9-9 or something like that. We need to be more in the 12-6 range and then split or better with Cleveland. Remember a number of years back when the Twins had some ridiculous interleague record? Something like that could win the division....now!

    If it were the end of April, I wouldn't be concerned. Baseball is such a marathon. One good month can propel a team from .440 winning percentage to .500+ winning percentage. .440 doesn't sniff the playoffs while .500+ means you play meaningful games in September. So, no...not concerned with spring training anything other than having guys healthy.

    I think Grossman makes the team, but I still am curious to see what his role is. He's a professional. He carries himself well, takes quality at bats, and is a solid guy to have on the roster. I like the guy, but I'm very curious to see where he fits in the puzzle.

    I went to the game today and overheard a coach (won't say which one) talking about Polanco and the "setback". He said that Polanco made a mistake and isn't the kind of kid to do that kind of stuff on purpose and that he should have had it tested before he put it into his body. Fair enough, but Adrianza started at short today and I think if he hits, he sticks. Now the question is will Dozier be back next year and, if not, will Polanco challenge for the spot? We'd be crazy to put Polanco back in at SS for the 2nd half of the year knowing that if we make the playoffs, he's out anyway.

    This also has implications for Dozier's future. If Polanco was seen as an option for 2nd base, I think that is in doubt now. I'm guessing the Dozier extension talks get fired up soon. I don't believe the vitamin story. Sorry, but I'm a skeptic when it comes to PED use. I think there is more of it going on than what we would all like to believe.

    The only value he has is to a mid level team that is looking for a 1B/DH upgrade or backup plan. If they don't want to risk someone else picking him up before him, then they may offer a low level prospect. That is the only hope of getting anything for him. That's why I say if they can get anything for him, kudos to them.

    I like the offseason moves. I think we have depth to withstand injuries. I think we have the talent to compete. Here's what I'd love to see yet this spring - trade Vargas for something. I don't care what, but if you can get something for him, kudos to the FO.

    Absolutely agree, but that's just us! Obviously, that wasn't his expectation and I doubt that it was their hope. I guess the question for the Angels is how long of a leash you give a two way player when one of his skills isn't at the level that it has to be? In other words, what if he could hit, but they discovered that his pitching wasn't at a MLB level or vice versa? It really puts an organization in a bit of a pickle and that's part of why I think the Angels have issues.

    Ohtani is one issue...actually, two issues. I think he is struggling with both his pitching and his hitting, but I think the pitching can be corrected. What I've read is that the hitting isn't going to be corrected easily and you don't want to try to correct it in the Majors. So, do you send him down to work on hitting and give up a pitcher? Doesn't make sense. The plan was to DH him on day's when he doesn't pitch, but he has "trouble with the curve" and is struggling with inside fastballs. Right now, he's practically an automatic out and the pitchers and scouts know it....and then there is the Pujols issue.

    Actually, I was referring to both. Granted, Trout covers a lot of issues, but you have huge money invested in a guy that isn't producing anywhere near to what you are paying him for. I'm sure they thought they sort of covered that with the Ohtani signing and got a frontline pitcher besides. Now they are faced with the reality that Ohtani isn't ready to hit in the bigs (I've heard him referred to as a high school hitter which I think is overkill) and it's questionable whether he's ready to pitch in the bigs. So, do you send him down to AAA? What if he can't perform there (because he is getting hit around by AAA hitters)? I guess my point is that if they have potentially two guys in their lineup that they basically have to play that really don't deserve to play. If your hope is that Ohtani become a major league hitter, you have to let him hit. Meanwhile, your paying Pujols a lot of money to hit. Tough to sit him. Scioscia is a great manager, but I don't envy him.
