  1. Shoes are most definitely not just shoes. They make a difference. Ask Cliff.
  2. Cleveland has four regular position players with an OPS+ below Eduard Julien. Their rotation has three starters with an ERA+ below Chris Paddack. It's their bullpen that's been lights out and carrying them. On the left are the innings pitched by Cleveland's bullpen guys. The Twins are on the right. Three Cleveland guys are on pace for 74+ innings, with three more close behind. This looks like injuries (or loss of effectiveness) waiting to happen.
  3. Alex Kirilloff went on the 10-day IL June 13. With not having heard updates and it being a back injury, it doesn’t seem impossible to think of him moving to the 60-day.
  4. On the bright side, Vazquez needing to play third pushed Lee to second. Not sure that Julien would have made the plays at second that Lee did.
  5. Nice. As a kid, I also started following the Twins in 1973 on WHO, which also led me to think that Jim Holt was better than he probably actually was.
  6. Maybe they could do that thing NL managers used to do when they were stuck using a pitcher as a position players. Alternate Lee and Jeffers between 2nd and 3rd depending on whether a lefty or a righty is at the plate.
  7. And even if they don't know the lineup, I think a lot of managers (including Rocco, if I remember reading correctly) communicate a tentative word to a regular after a game about having the next day off or to a bench player that they will likely be in the lineup.
  8. Tonight's my Golden Anniversary. In the big scheme of things, the Tigers beating the Royals 8-2 on July 13, 1974, had no real impact on the standings, and there were no particularly noteworthy individual performances. But I was sitting at Royal Stadium in Section 119, Row JJ, Seat 4, taking in my first-ever Major League Baseball game, so it was a game of epic proportions.
  9. Huh? Are you saying Kepler's parents were actual ballet dancers? Who knew?
  10. Not sure why I haven't thought of this before, but I wonder if players from the 1960s experienced PTSD today when they looked at the online schedule and saw "Gibson" listed as the starter for St. Louis.
  11. As a regular listener, I really miss having Corey on the radio.
  12. Speaking of green, my pet chameleon won’t change colors. It has a reptile dysfunction.
  13. Wish their shortstop wouldn’t have positioned himself so Wisely on that liner by Buxton.
  14. Sorry — I only make jokes about red, blue and yellow. They’re more basic.
  15. Late scratch because of his back. EDIT: Ninja’ed twice. But clearly Miranda should have been spending more time on cHawk’s recliner.
  16. Did I mention that Mrs. IT and I went to Alaska on vacation. Brought home some salmon, but I couldn’t open the package. Had to call a loxsmith.
  17. Mark Twain (supposedly): “The coldest winter I ever spent was July in San Francisco.”
  18. Was it a chiropractor? They have them for dogs and cats now. They’re called animal crackers.
  19. Carlos looks much better in gray than he would have in orange.
  20. Someone asked me if I could name a country without using the letter “r.” I said, “No way.”
  21. Missing when you try to toss in a penny would be a not three well throw.
