  1. Thanks, Ash, and I'll willingly accept the gentle slap on the wrist. It was indeed intended as satire, but I recognize that that doesn't always come through. And it certainly was NOT meant to mock anyone, particularly including Vanimal who started the thread. I recognize Vanimal's signature as a regular and significant participant and contributor to the discussion. Vanimal, please accept my apology if it came across personally. Ash and others, I also will again state my appreciation for the role you folks do as moderators. I've gone on record numerous times on the site in expressing my thankfulness for the general civility that is present on TwinsDaily, including thanking the moderators for their role in maintaining the civility, and I regularly name the spirit of community that is present when encouraging friends who are Twins fans to check out the site.
  2. Yeah, I tried to click on the smiley face, but it didn't populate. I should have gone with the :-).
  3. Between this one and the Sano thread, I think we should package them for a AA outfielder. It's "perform immediately or get out of the way" in my book. Working through things is not an option. We should have traded Buxton last year for a case of walleye.
  4. From Rotoworld.com... CRAIG KIMBREL RP, BOSTON RED SOX An unnamed club executive tells Joel Sherman of the New York Post that free agent reliever Craig Kimbrel is a "priority" for the Twins. Kimbrel is no longer tied to draft-pick compensation, as the 2019 MLB Draft got started on Monday and will conclude on Wednesday, so a number of teams are suddenly checking in on his market. Beyond the Twins, who are up big on first place in the AL Central, the Cubs are also known to have serious interest. Sherman hears that Kimbrel is "still trying to score a multi-year deal" despite several months of low-ball offers, or no offers at all. There should be some kind of tangible movement with the veteran closer this week. RELATED: Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs SOURCE: New York Post Jun 5, 2019, 10:09 AM ET
  5. I was going to say that for a high school kid, Smeltzer has a pretty good beard.
  6. And that's one for the Diehard family! Thank you, Marwin. (Are you sponsored by Sears, by the way?).
  7. Tampa Bay is 35-22, and what do you bet that over on Rays Daily, they are saying, “Yeah, but we can’t beat the good teams like the Twins.” Think about how that sounds.
  8. 8-6-2-4-5-4 on the Sano out. According to Atteberry, that combination will get you the Trapper Keeper out of Corey Provus’s junior high locker. I so wish Gladden would stay “on assignment.”
  9. Listening on the radio, and not only was Byron fast enough to get back to the wall, but then he even got to a mic in time to send it to a commercial with the promo to catch the Twins on WCCO!
  10. I knew something like last night was going to happen. We should have known it was going to lead to this when we signed Nolasco. It's his fault. And Pelfrey's.
  11. I didn't see the play, but it appears that the play was ruled a fielders choice on the grounder, suggesting that the scorer placed Castro at second in reconstructing the inning. The doink-off-the-helmet error allowed Castro to advance to third and Astudillo to second. But because Kepler and Cron doubled, the runs would have scored anyway, so the error didn't make a difference in the scoring.
  12. Indeed, especially for a team that has seemingly always been known for better hitting than pitching.
  13. Good one, indeed. On one hand, not surprising when I looked it up, but not one of the first dozen or so guesses I would have had.
  14. Sounds like we could have saved scouts some ink by letting them use the same scouting report on both of us.
  15. Lorenzo what? Christian who? Our stomachs are completely relaxed, because we've got the Alka-Smeltzer.
  16. Another nice Smeltzer feature: https://www.floridatoday.com/story/sports/2019/05/28/former-blue-wahoos-ace-devin-smeltzer-makes-mlb-debut-tonight/1262198001/
  17. Reminds of the time in one of my first Vintage Base Ball games (1858 rules) on the 90-foot bases after a few years of slow-pitch softball. Smacked a sure double into the right-center field gap and almost got thrown out trying to stretch it into a single.
  18. Let's show them how to use a leadoff extra-base hit.
  19. Have they been living with us? Let's EVICT THEM!
