  1. I'm impressed with him so far. Keep starting him and see what he can do!
  2. Couldn't agree more. Given how badly Hughes and Gibson have pitched so far and if the trend continues I think Trevor will be given a shot again later this year. There's no point in a shut down reliever when your already down by five or six runs by the time you reach the fifth or sixth inning..
  3. I am questioning now whether Gibson fits into that equation. He is another one of those "slow" starters and we have to move away from that as a team in order to be successful. This year is particularly bad.
  4. "he's one of us" Haha classic.
  5. Wouldn't surprise me. i think your right on the money, unless some major roster decisions are made and trades happen. Too me outside of the putrid offense the starting pitching aside from Berrios has collapsed in on itself like a blackhole.
  6. I think we are closing in on fire sale territory. Sell list Plouffe Dozier Nunez Gibson Nolasco Perkins Possible sell list Park Arcia Danny Santana Ervin Santana (difficult contract to sell) Hughes (extremely difficult contract to sell) Rosario Abad Hold Buxton Kepler Berrios May Duffey Polanco Chargois Sano Mauer (no way he's moved)
  7. I'm much more concerned about the Hughes extension than Nolasco. Ricky is gone after this year. Twins will either cut him lose or match 50% of his salary in a dump & trade to a team desperate for a starter. Hughes on the other hand we are stuck with until 2019. Yikes! And I fully admit I was supportive of the extension. At least with Santana there's a team option for 2019.
  8. Someone will claim Milone. There's teams like the Brewers that are absolutely desperate right now for starters. He''ll get claimed for sure. I also think Nolasco gets moved shortly too, the sooner the better.
  9. Agreed. If he continues like this demote him to the pen in favor of May or Duffey. Callup Chargois and dump Nolasco. That would be a major step in the right direction. I'd also shop Gibson around for a young major league ready catcher. Although apparently there adding Juan Centeno to the 40 man in anticipation of being called up and Murphy sent down. Santana Berrios Gibson May Duffey / Meyer?
  10. That is correct they take on the contract.
  11. I hear this statement a lot from Twins fans about our starting pitchers. "He's a slow starter and he'll go on a tear with a new team if only we gave him a chance." I am tired of this excuse. We need to move away from pitchers like this. What we NEED are no nonsense starters that will fight to win games in April and early May instead of trotting out there and losing their first 5 or 6 games with a lackluster attitude. Gibson is another one of these perennial offenders and i think he's a decent pitcher.
  12. I think the immediate solution is to move May into the rotation along with Berrios and Meyer into a bullpen role or JT Chargois.
  13. I disagree on the ship has sailed blah blah blah. May is in the bullpen because there are too many starters right now and not enough proven bullpen arms. I don't think the decision long term has been made yet. May has 4+ pitches yet.
  14. Agreed and if that's the case, sooner rather than later. This is not a playoff bound team but Molitor is managing like they are. Paul... Let the youngsters play win or lose.
  15. I'm gonna take flak for this but now that I've watched him and his managing style he's not the guy I would have hired to work these young guys into the lineup.
  16. Actually Mr. Brooks I never said that and before you put any more words in my mouth and pout some more I do agree though that Molitor totally mishandled the situation and pulled him too early. And for the record, if your willing to look I am a big Trevor May advocate. In fact I think he has the potential to be one of the Twins best starters if given the chance. Now that we've settled that, I swear sometimes that if I squint my eyes enough he begins to look like Gardy. My guess is that Molitor never wanted to start Meyer, but had his hand forced by Ryan. At the first sign of trouble he pulled him and sent him backing back to AAA. Talk about crushing the dreams of a youngster. FAIL.....Paul, absolute FAIL. Regarding Meyer's pitch distribution, all you have to do is look at the charts. I don't care about his minor league numbers from 2 or 3 seasons ago. LOOK AT THE CHARTS. Everything is down and away. SO YEAH LACK OF CONTROL Mr.Brooks. Don't know how you can't see that. Do I want to see another start from him? Heck yeah.
  17. I don't think it has anything to do with confidence. Discipline and pitch recognition coaching is what Buxton desperately needs. The same goes for Rosario, Sano and Arcia (to a lesser extent). All these new callups have really struggled in this regard.
  18. He's 26 years old going on 27 and he has zero control. Trust me he's a bust.
  19. I wouldn't mind him spending the rest of the year in AAA with a possible fall callup. Same with Rosario. Both these kids could use some more seasoning down on the farm.
  20. Agreed. I too hate the Sano OF experiment and have seen enough. Dude is a klutz in the outfield AND slow for an OF (not for a guy his size i might add). I think this experiment should be terminated as soon as possible and that means trading Plouffe whose not worth much right now. OR the Twins trade Park (not sure what we could get for him) and move Sano into the DH role now and avoid all this drama (we all know he's a full time DH at some point anyways). I have mixed feelings about Gibson. Guy can be pretty good at times, but dam he's a slow starter and off to an awful start this year. Getting tired of seeing this pattern the last three seasons.
  21. Disagree on the outfield and Nolasco. All three of those OF guys: Rosario, Buxton & Santana struggle to hit major league pitching consistently. Granted Santana has looked much better this season than last, the other two look utterly lost in comparison. Regarding Nolasco. Only one year is left on that deal after this season. Considering there is already a shortage of starting pitching available on the market and many teams will soon be looking to shore things up, Ricky is a prime trade candidate. He's pitched relatively well so far (excluding his last start) and is only under contract for one more season after this. I think he gets traded before the deadline unless the entire rotation implodes and he's propping the whole works up which is highly unlikely.
  22. Impossible to say Riverbrian...unless of course someone here has insider contacts in the organization. I think it's the perfect storm of inexperienced & undisciplined players. Everyone is swinging for the moon with the exception of Joe Mauer and Escobar. I have a REAL BIG problem with that. Too me, I see a bunch of youngsters who aren't listening to the coaches and go into the batters box with a free swinging mindset. There aren't selective recognition whats-over. And that's bad. Real bad. The way i see it, every one of those guys (Sano, Buxton, Rosario, Dozier, etc.) that is behaving this way should be benched or optioned to AAA if possible. Don't get me wrong, it's alright to take big cuts at certain pitches, but not EVERY single pitch. Coaches need to put there foot down on this one or this team easily blows the K record for a single season.
  23. Ha! With this free swinging lineup? I'll believe that when i see it. They couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a baseball bat right now.
  24. Agreed. Dittos on the rotation. I think Buxton needs time in AAA though. Kid is flat out not ready for the majors.
