Really worried about Varland having to face 3 future hall of famers plus Will Smith and Teoscar Hernandez who can both hit the piss out of the ball.

I have my fair share of criticism for Rocco and the FO but you do realize ownership slashed payroll by like 30 million dollars right?

I posted this in the Twins subreddit but I'll post it here. Joey Gallo in 79 GP/ 260 PA - .2 bWar Matt Wallner in 20 GP/ 58 PA - .8 bWar Gallo has to go.

Stevenson played 109 games for the Nationals in his age 27 season and was terrible. He is now 29. He's not a major league player.

Ortega had thrown 36 or so pitches 2 days ago. At the very least Sands should have been used there. The Twins are effectively creating a dead roster spot with their lack of usage of Sands. It's bad roster management.

Meija only just turned 25.

Solid plate patience, timely hitting,AND quality pitching? Who am I? What is life? When does baseball actually start?

Needing a dominant closer would imply that the Twins have a lead going into the ninth. They have plenty of time to try and develop someone who's built to be a reliever into a closer. And again, if he doesn't work out as a starter then you can explore the closer option. I just feel there's no reason to not give him another go.

You act as if we have a lights out rotation with zero room for trial and error.

I can't really see the harm in letting him start the rest of the season. If he fails then it's back to the pen, if not then all the better. Seeing anything other than Hughes flounder around once every five days is an improvement in my opinion. Now if they could just cut ties with Nolasco already for when Gibson comes back I might be interested in watching the starting rotation. It's all pure fantasy though, I'm sure.

I'm definitely a proponent of moving Hughes to the BP. Or anywhere that's not the starting rotation.

lol, what?

The Twins supposedly have all these stud level young relievers in the minors, why not try out one of them before trying out a guy who could actually help our starting rotation? Which if you haven't noticed, could really use it.

That was supposed to say "legitimate shot" by the way.

I've heard some people saying they'd like to see Trevor May get a shot at the closer position. I seriously have to ask, why? How many opportunities is he really going to get at the rate this team is playing? Why waste a guy who has the longevity to be a SP on one inning every few weeks? Coming into this season I was under the impression that his move to the pen was strictly due to the fact that the Twins thought they had a legitimate shot at being competitive. With that notion no longer existing is there really a reason to continue wasting his talents there? I understand something has to be done about the Hughes/Nolasco log jam for it to be feasible, bit surely the Twins will make the right move. Right? RIGHT!?
