  1. What "history" are you referring to? I don't think it has anything to do with ethnicity if that's what you are insinuating, not at all. If the Twins didn't like Latino players they wouldn't draft them to begin. Utter nonsense IMO. I also don't believe that there is absolutely no reason were not allowed to question his work ethic or conditioning or whatever you are eluding too because it's not a direct source. There is plenty of indirect evidence floating around to the contrary starting with his deplorable defense in the OF and at third in addition to his struggles at the plate. Some of that is to be expected for a young guy, but word has gotten around too (whether you like it or not or believe it) from indirect sources in the Twin Cities that he is frustrated and not listening to coaches. This is being observed in batting practice apparently. Moving on. Just because you don't appear out of shape doesn't mean you ARE in shape. Yes, Sano is a large man, but so are many people including myself (6'-5" 225lbs). I also played three sports (football - tackle and TE, basketball and soccer) in highschool and college and know a thing or two about conditioning. Sano is an athlete and strong but there's no doubt he's husky at 270 and it definitely showed when he was in the outfield. I seem to remember a lot of miscues where he came up way short on fly balls and was huffing and puffing like he'd run a marathon. Not a good sign of ideal conditioning.
  2. I've read that the original 3 way deal was Ervin Santana to the Jays, in exchange for pitching prospects (likely revolving around Foley or Harris plus others) while the Pirates sent Liriano north in exchange for Hutchison and other prospects. Apparently Antony didn't like how the deal was shaping up and backed out while the Pirates and Jays went through with the rest of the deal. I don't blame him for shying away.
  3. How bout the whole pizza? When i was 23/24 I could eat a whole pizza easy, so I can imagine what his his consumption is like (I'm 6'-5" and 225lbs.). Given his size and age and the fact that he's an athlete he's probably consuming close to 3000 calories a day.
  4. I don't agree that he should be DFA'd.
  5. Agreed. The important thing is progression. If's he's still striking out at this pace next season and continues to make tons of errors then there is valid reason for concern. But at 23 years old he's just getting started and we've seen short bursts of what he's capable of and that is promising. Kenny Vargas whose 3 years older and has the DH build similar to Sano appears to have progressed and that is a good thing. Hopefully Sano emulates him a works his way through this.
  6. I think I understand the sentiment being articulated here. The perception is that he's a happy go lucky kind of player and that he has no sense of urgency and does not concentrate. That could explain the boneheaded errors and crazy number of strikeouts. It's also been suggested in the comment section of the star tribune that he is frustrated, pouting and not listening to the coaches. Molitor is right to sit him to clear his head. If it continues maybe he does need to get sent down. He likely does have some maturing to do at 23 years old, but I am far less concerned about him in comparison to Buxton.
  7. Let him play. Worst case scenario he starts a few games at DH and Polanco slides over to third.
  8. Can we move Gibson to the pen as well and stretch out May?
  9. Wow. I just don't get it. Guy has 4 pitches and was more consistent than Duffey or Gibson this year.
  10. Have the Twins completely abandoned the idea of Trevor May ever starting again? Seems hard to believe given how he was doing before being moved to the pen.
  11. I would expect Mauer, Plouffe, Dozier, Milone, Suzuki, Kintzler for sure.
  12. I'm hoping that's the next step here over the next couple of days. Place Milone, Plouffe and Suzuki on waivers and see what comes up.
  13. Probably quite a bit. That deal was setting the stage for moving other catchers including Suzuki so by the time that Lucroy was rerouted to his final destination it was too late to get rid of Suzuki.
  14. Yeah me too. Jays ended up settling for Scott Feldman and Liriano. Very interested to see what was going on there before that deal fell apart.
  15. Not a big fan. He's ANOTHER soft tossing lefty. High 80's fastball. No bueno.
  16. Reid-Foley would have to be included in my opinion that would be the one guy I would want from them. Doubt they'd give him up though.
  17. I think there is a possibility that one of Nolasco, Milone or Ervin gets dealt. Apparently the Jays are still in the market for a starter.
  18. And Molitor is definitely a Ryan hire. He appears to have zero patience with the younger players. I still think he was the wrong guy for manager at this stage. Should have been Dougie.
  19. I would be absolutely thrilled if the Twins unloaded Nolasco and Milone. That would be AWESOME! If they do this and hang onto Santana that would be acceptable. Ridding ourselves of Nolasco and Milone would mean Berrios would get a callup for sure and would likely finish the season in the majors. The next logical move would be to send May down to AAA to stretch him out. In the meantime they could callup Dean and or Wheeler to fill the void. The next big question is Duffey. Santana Gibson Duffey Berrios May, Dean, Wheeler, Mejia
  20. Those are old tweets are they not? early July?
  21. Unless they are bluffing and attempting to drive up the trade offers.
  22. That's a good idea. Keep in mind though that May would be getting the raw end of the deal as he's been in the reliever role all season and would not have the benefit of spring training to adjust. He'd also have to be stretched out which would take several outings to accomplish.
  23. Seems to be A LOT of traffic about Santana on mlbtraderumors.com. I think the Twins are more open to dealing him than they are letting on and are trying to maximize the potential return.
  24. Let's just hope its posturing.
  25. Bust. Game over end of story.
