  1. Well in 12 games for Elizabethton he was 1-7 in 8 starts with a 4.83 era. Not exactly a good start.
  2. Not sure what to make of the "i feel my fastball improving" quote or the "At one point during Sunday’s first round of live batting practice, Twins right-hander Jose Berrios knocked the bat right out of Byung Ho Park’s hands." What does that mean? Pretty cryptic if you ask me. My opinion.....this kid is not ready for the bigs yet. At 22 years old why are they rushing him when we have a full rotation already (not saying it's a good rotation). Let him pitch another 50 or 60 innings at AAA and then re-evaluate. We have Adalberto Mejía and Tyler Duffey available as well in case Santiago, Gibson or Hughes really falters.
  3. Worse case scenario he doesn't stick as a starter and becomes a lights out RP or closer.
  4. Kepler has played there in the past and so has Palka.
  5. Years ago i was completely against this idea, but now i'm completely for it. MLB just like the NHL has a much dragged out season. I would also propose that the league go back to two divisions, east and west which would create a more balanced variety of opponents instead of white sox, indians, royals, tigers over and over again. Keep the wild cards.
  6. Never thought of that point, but that's a good one too. That opens a different can of worms.....umpires...hmmm
  7. This i absolutely agree about. To me: enforce a pitch clock, no stepping off the rubber multiple times, don't let batters step out of the batters box and call repeated time outs (limit one per at-bat or something like that). Beyond that the only other thing that could significantly pick up the pace of the game is calling two strike foul balls as automatic strikeouts, but that would be a HUGE rule change in the game, not sure anyone would go for that.
  8. Look this whole thread was started based on rule changes and it was inferred that these proposals would speed up the pace of the game and since then the discussion has been going tangent. What i am saying is this. There is nothing wrong with inter league games but personally i think it drags out an already LONG season and is largely meaningless. If MLB shortens the season and keeps inter league fine, if they do nothing fine. I don't care either way what they do and they don't give two hoots what i think anyways so what's the big deal throwing out big ideas on a baseball forums? I'm not trying to make some kind of an "appeal not to change, not to improve" whatever you are trying to say. Like you said earlier Mike we disagree.
  9. I never suggested all change is bad. Do i like seeing players and teams from other leagues? Sure. But i understand that the Twins play in the AL and the Brewers play in the NL and don't typically play each other FOR THAT REASON. By the way IMO the Brewers should still be in the AL. But beyond playing largely meaningless "exhibition like"games against NL teams, roughly 12% of the schedule, what's the purpose of inter league play beyond dragging out an already LONG season? You don't need inter league games to scout potential WS opponents.
  10. Oh i understand what your saying, but like you said we disagree. I don't think there's any need for it in an already bloated season that's too long.
  11. MLB was fine without it before 1997.
  12. Your last point about television commercials is true. TV commercials disrupt the pace of NHL games there's no doubt about that.
  13. So is the consensus now that Polanco's defense is no good at SS AND 2B? That would be disappointing to say the least if they never find a position in the field for him because Dozier isn't traded.
  14. So he lacks control is how i interpret this. Great.
  15. lol i missed that one. Was that part of the DOzier trade threads?
  16. I'm also not opposed to shortening the season back to 140 or 154 games. I think 10 or 11 games against each of your fellow AL or NL teams is PLENTY. Do away with inter-league which is completely pointless and then reduce the number of pitching changes allowed in a game and that would significantly reduce game times and the long season fan fatigue that starts to set in late August early September.
  17. I wouldn't mind the BB rule. Having the pitcher throw 4 balls to the catcher is redundant. Just do away with it. That said if they REALLY want to speed up the pace of the game then they should reexamine how many times a batter can call time outs in the box or how often a pitcher can step off the mound. Those two action DO slow down the pace of the game significantly.
  18. If Palka continues to progress he's a RF. That would free up Kepler to move to 1st. At least they have the luxury of time at the moment.
  19. Kepler can play 1st. After 2018 we might see Kepler, Vargas and Palka all their sporadically.
  20. No disrespect intended but this subject has literally been beaten to a pulp. Mauer is not going to be DFA'd no matter how much we wish it. He's not going to retire early, etc. Joe is going to collect every last penny of this contract and i don't blame him. Your one chance to get filthy NASTY rich, why not do it!!!
  21. Agreed. Control is everything and multiple offerings is the difference between a flame throwing relief pitcher and an ace starter. If he was a bit further along with the secondary offerings it would be a no brainier pick, but at this point it's iffy.
  22. I'd pick Jerome Bettis. Guy is a good bowler but a great running back. I love bowling.
  23. One has to wonder how much "pro active enforcement" might effect the performance of a lot of these players. Hold these players feet to the fire. You want a starting gig? Fine, but you better take the training seriously.
  24. I would be absolutely SHOCKED if Haley ends up in the rotation over Santiago or Gibson.
