  1. I've moved on from Hicks. If he ends up turning things around and has a respectable major league career as a corner outfielder i'd be happy, but at this point i'm looking at Buxton and Rosario. We've seen this smoke and mirror show from Hicks before.
  2. Good move by the Twins. It will be nice to see what Rosario can do even if this is a short term callup. I also like that they were considering Pinto as well. Looks like we FINALLY get to start seeing the talent that has been drafted these past couple of years. EXCITING!
  3. Lets see how he does in AAA for a few more weeks. Some guys are late bloomers and perhaps Aaron is one of those guys and has FINALLY started to turn the corner and make the necessary adjustments to hit right handed pitching. He's also beginning to feel the heat from Byron Buxton who is heating up in Chattanooga and is not far behind him. If Aaron doesn't take a big step forward here this season he might be passed up by Rosario, Buxton and possibly Walker.
  4. Unless Sano really turns it around here shortly, i don't see a trade of Plouffe anytime soon.
  5. Alex just needs to relax and pitch. If he saves some of that gas for later innings he'll walk fewer batters and his arm & shoulder will thank him.
  6. I think this kid is legit. His stuff isn't super flashy but if his velocity continues to tick up slowly while retaining that pin point accuracy of his, he's definitely a sleeper prospect. AND he's a southpaw!
  7. Buxton has looked a lot better lately. I'd like to see the Twins send Berrios and Buxton to Rochester in a couple of weeks. Not to change the subject but has anyone been paying attention to Taylor Rodgers? Guy is off to a good start in AAA.
  8. What's your point? All three played very poorly to start the season. Now they are starting to heat up which is exactly my point. They needed extra reps in AA and AAA.
  9. Yes indeed. I will gladly eat crow for my rants about Plouffe and Dozier in the past on this forum and mlb.com. All i want these guys to do is keep winning.
  10. We would be lucky to find a trading partner for him and even more luckier to not have to pay 50% of his remaining salary. Let all cross our fingers that Santana doesn't turn out the same way.
  11. True but teams are more willing to gamble on guys with one year deals. MIke is tradeable no doubt.
  12. Yeah. Meyer has gotten off to a terrible start. Effectively wild, walking guys like crazy, getting shelled in AAA. I know that they have been trying to tweak his mechanics and save his shoulder but at this rate we probably won't see Alex this year unless he really turns things around. Unfortunate for a 25/26 year old who should be in the majors by now.
  13. I wonder if the FO is getting ready to make a move here shortly. I would not surprise me if they are actively shopping Pelfrey possibly Milone given we are stuck with Nolasco and Santana for the next two years at least.
  14. Terry Ryan is just being stubborn at this point. After last nights disaster Tim Stauffer should be DFA'd no ifs ands or butts. PERIOD! Guy is absolutely HORRIBLE and has blown multiple games for this team already. There is absolutely NO REASON that he should pitch in any more games. I've seen enough. You? The outfield isn't much better. The sight of Arcia, Schafer and Hunter day in and day out is almost vomit inducing. Not only are they hitting poorly, but they are making boneheaded decisions that have nothing to do with talent level. Inexcusable. Schafer flat out stinks. I think it's time to call up Hicks and just pray that this time around he sticks. Send Vargas down to AAA for a while with the hope that he figures things out and move Arcia over to DH temporarily and callup Rosario. Let Arcia and Rosario split time at LF & DH.
  15. I'd give him another week or two and see if this continues. If he does then by all means, bring him up and see how he does. Remember though that he can't hit left handed pitching to save his own life.
  16. While I wouldn't have signed Hunter, I'm not overly upset that he is on the roster and taking reps in RF. Full disclosure, I never bought into the sales pitch that Hunter is providing veteran leadership to these young guys that Ryan tried so hard to sell to Twins fans. It was simply another smoke and mirror attempt at selling a few more season tickets, which have been in decline the past three years. Sure it would be nice to call up the kids and not rely on a 40 year old ballplayer WAY past his prime, two journeymen outfielders (Robinson & Scafer) and Arcia who appears to be more of a DH than an outfielder at this point. Unfortunately our AAA options have played so poorly up to this point that it's best these kids take some extended reps in AAA and see who stands out. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as impatient as the next guy waiting for Rosario, Buxton, Hicks, Walker, Sano, etc., but most of these guys just haven't risen to the occasion yet. For the time being we will have to deal with the musical chair outfield. Sure, it's depressing and downright aggravating at times but unless Terry Ryan works some sort of trade in the near future it is what it is.
  17. If the Dodger's scouts were indeed watching the Twins starters you would hope that Terry Ryan called Zaidi and offered up Nolasco. Heck I'd offer to pay part of his salary for the next 2-1/2 years if they took him off our hands. Seems like a no-brainer.
  18. I'd trade him to the Dodgers for cash and future considerations. Straight up that would be a win win for the Twins.
  19. Unfortunately, I think you're correct. If his last start hadn't been shortened by that fluke ball to the elbow he would have had more time to make the case that he belongs. However, at this point money and option years talk. May will likely go down to AAA when Nolasco returns, unless Milone absolutely implodes in his next start.
  20. If they're going to move him you would think it would happen at or around the all-star break. If he continues to pitch like this (I have my doubts) some team looking for a rentable starter will take him off our hands for a B level prospect, which in my opinion is a WIN WIN compared to where we were at six months ago. He's a free agent at seasons end, no long term commitment required, and pitching well..... for the moment. Plus, plus & plus to a club looking for a serviceable 5th starter in the midst of a playoff push. That said, it scares the heck out of me that the Twins FO will have another brain fart and hang onto him, before signing him to ANOTHER extension......shudders. We have enough of these mediocre filler guys already (Milone & Nolasco). What would be more desirable is to move Big Mike to a playoff contender and then figure out someway somehow to offload Nolasco. I see it as an amicable split because he's unhappy in Minnesota anyways and the sooner the better. However, for that to happen it requires good pitching and wins from from Ricky, something he has not displayed yet with the Twins. One way or another two of these guys will be optioned to AAA by the All-Star break. Once Santana's suspension is up something has got to give in this rotation.
  21. Agreed. As a hitter he has decent power and OBP, although he has struggled with overall batting average. Defensively I think his deficiencies are VASTLY overblown. This kid was called up to catch one of the worst major league staff in all of baseball two years running. It's no wonder he has had trouble framing, blocking and throwing out runners when all you have to work with is wild pitches and erratic starters. Garbage is most appropriate. I still believe he has way more upside than Chris Herrmann who is absolutely brutal in the batters box. I also think he could end up being better than Kurt Suzuki who is nothing special in his own light despite the all-star selection last season. If Vargas continues to struggle i'd like to see Ryan call up Pinto and send Kenny down to AAA. Pinto could DH primarily and catch the odd game here and there.
  22. That would be exciting to see.
  23. I REALLY would like to see what a rotation of Hughes, Gibson, Milone, May and Meyer could accomplish. Pelfrey has to know that his time as a starter is likely short. If May has another good outing i don't see how the Twins can justify sending him back to AAA. This is what i was saying before the beginning of the year. Why did the Twins bring Pelfrey back? He just isn't needed as a starter. Perhaps the FO thought he'd be more receptive to a BP role, but we all know how that situation played out in ST. If Nolasco stinks it up again upon returning then the Twins have a very difficult decision to make. You have 2-3/4 years left and 30+ million still owed on that contract. What do you do with him?
  24. I think the Twins need to REALLY really think hard before sending Trevor back down again. Just saying.
  25. Seriously? This post is a joke right? Hughes is head and shoulders better than Nolasco, even circa 2013. No comparison. Radke WAS the DEFACTO ace on some very very bad Twins teams before that next generation of starters arrived (Santana, Milton, Redman & Mays). Scott Baker was never an ace EVER.
