  1. I think SWR is a good back end of the rotation starter which is fine, as you need pitchers like that. I think the Twins are starting Paddack right now to try and find a trade partner for him.
  2. This. And we know that Correa wants to play for a winner. Reportedly teams showed interest in both players in the offseason and the Twins didn't bite from what we know. I think that was a mistake. The hard one to move would be Buxton as he wants to remain a Twin for life. His contract switches to a 5 team no trade clause in 2029 so 3 more seasons after this. Correa has a vesting option in 2029. He either makes 575 at-bats in 2028 and vests or it turns into a team option.
  3. I agree with your assessment. The offense has been HORRENDOUS. Could they climb out of this hole they are in? Yeah anything is possible I suppose. Is it likely? No. The offensive roster is so anemic I just don't see it happening. Edouard Julien, Willi Castro, Carlos Correa, DaShawn Keirsey, Christian Vazquez, Mickey Gasper, Jose Miranda (when he was still up), Trevor Larnach.......yuck. All of these players have hit horribly so far. Byron Buxton has been doing better the last 7 games, but overall not a good start to his season other than he's healthy. Bader and France have shown flashes, but not great overall either. Brooks Lee looks like he needs more time in AAA. The few bright spots appear to be Luke Keaschall, Ryan Jeffers, and Matt Wallner. That offense is not good enough to win 85 games in my opinion even with 3 strong starters in Lopez, Ryan, and Ober.
  4. And some of that is Rocco's fault. He continues to only let his starters go 4-2/3 maybe 5-1/3 innings and it's just wearing out a flimsy bullpen. There's no reason he shouldn't push his top 3 starters (Ober, Ryan and Lopez) to go 7 innings each start, absolutely no reason. Unfortunately, it seems that SWR has taken a step back this season and he's starting to look more like a long reliever vs. a starter and from what we've seen of Festa he also seems to be a fringe starter at best and can't seem to get past 5 innings. So the back end of the rotation is a bit of a mess. AT some point you'd think they'd want to bring up Zebby or maybe Morris later to see how they handle things, but in general the way Rocco has handled the pitching staff has been a near disaster.
  5. Is it really an injury issue (Finger, Foot, Oblique, back, hamstrings, etc......picking from the list of past injuries in his time with the Twins) or that Correa is just a really, REALLY streaky hitter..... kinda like Buxton? I think the crutch a lot of fans rely on when explaining these offensive woes is the ever / forever injury bug explanation. Is it really injury or just a really bad offensive streak? If it is indeed another injury bug, when do the Twins realize that Correa like Buxton are not truly full-time players and more like 1/2 - 2/3 season players and plan accordingly? The problem is that he's making 30+ million a year to be a double play / strikeout machine, sub .200 hitter, a month into the season. And this is not the first time he's done this. They've got another guy in the lineup that often goes on prolonged dry spells and his last name starts with B, also making 15 million a year. That's crippling for a mid to small sized market team that doesn't want to spend the money to go find more consistent hitters to place around him in the order. This is why some Twins fans did not want any part of signing Correa to a mega deal. The risk is just too great given his injury history and now apparent pattern of repeated offensive droughts (which I think none of us were expecting). When he's on he's great, and his defense is always very good, but man when he's not hitting he's a blackhole in the lineup. Makes us appreciate what the team had when Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau were in the lineup everyday.
  6. Reportedly teams were interested in both players in the offseason. How real that was I don't know, but I would have taken those offers seriously if I was in charge. Both are such streaky hitters its cringe worthy.
  7. I'm expecting a swap to happen. Lewis back, Correa on the DL with tendinitis or some other ailment. IT's happened before.
  8. Man..... Correa is sooooo lost at the plate right now. Brutal.
  9. Irrelevant and not going to happen. That's not the question being asked in this thread and misconstruing the replies you are referring too. From the replies I've read, most of the individuals are stating they'd rather see the team continue as it started the season in order to force front office change. It's not "so i can be right on the internet." That's an assumption. It's easy for fans to get emotional and make broad statements based on those assumptions. I do not claim to be a Twins organization insider nor am I fan of the Pohlads AT ALL, but I also don't pretend to know what their business strategies and internal plans are. To say otherwise would be outright false. I also think that if the team is bad enough, they WILL replace Rocco at some point if this continues, the question is when. Derek Falvey and Thad Levine fired Paul Molitor one year after Molitor was named American League Manager of the year in 2017 and just two days after he guided a group of players to a 28-28 finish (78-84 overall) in the final two months of the season. The point is that they WILL fire a coach if things go badly enough and or that individual doesn't mesh with the front office's vision and how the players are managed. Heck, Rocco might not even get 75 wins with this team given how badly they've played so far (and they should be doing A LOT better). While a good chunk of the blame falls squarely on ownership for not going after key free agents or making some well-placed trades to strengthen the order, Rocco certainly deserves a significant portion of "in season" blame because of his boneheaded lineup and pitching decisions. I've counted at least 5 games where one could argue he lost the game via poor managerial decisions. That's impossible to ignore if this continues. If the club losing in 2025 forces them to replace Rocco, so be it. It's a win long term.
  10. The truth is the next few series will tell. The White Sox are just THAT bad, it's not hard to beat them (although today's game they are currently losing to them in the 5th). Let's see how this team does against the Angels.
  11. I'm not worried about Zebby and Rodriguez. Give them a few more weeks and then we shall see. I don't think the Twins are going anywhere this season, so we need these kids on the Saints to show their best stuff and start challenging the major league roster.
  12. Glad to see a win against one of the worst teams in baseball. If they can start winning against the rest of the league I'll get excited. Keaschal is exactly the boost this team needed. As I said in previous posts they need to call up Emmanuel Rodriguez and Walker Jenkins (when he gets healthy and hitting). Rocco pleaseeee stop leading off with Julien, he's horrible at it.
  13. I’d take Maddon at this point. At least he’d light a fire under these guys and then we’d know who needs to be traded and who needs to be kept.
  14. This. Need to start getting ready for the fire sale.
  15. And it’s completely self imposed by Rocco. There are AT LEAST five starts where Rocco pulled the starter far earlier than he had to.
  16. I think they are already past that point. I want to see Emmanuel Rodriguez up soon followed by Walker Jenkins when he gets healthy. Even Kaelen Culpepper should be considered.
  17. Good news!
  18. Supposedly Correa had some outside interest in the offseason, should he be willing to waive his NTC. Reportedly there was also outside interest in Buxton as well. Missed opportunities? Only time will tell. One thing is certain as long as the Twins have the Pohlads as owners and retain Lopez, Correa, and Buxton, and they don't get a new TV deal, this team is not spending any significant money improving the club without trading one of the three above.
  19. Really? Giving up the team's #1 starter over C4 or Buxton? Buxton is easily #3 in comparison to the other two IMO.
  20. "I would call up Keaschall, put some combination of Bader, Keirsey, and Larnach in the corner OF every day, and have Keaschall play 2B some and DH some. I'm banking on Correa being able to play so he and Lee are the primary left side of the infield, with Castro an occasional fill in and also available as the fifth outfielder. Frankly, it's not ideal. It would be better Martin was available, but he's not." I agree on calling up Luke Keaschall. Have him platoon part of the time in the corner OF spots and then the rest of his time at either 2nd base or DH. Long term he belongs at DH or 2nd and will be a much better option than Julien or Gasper so the sooner they get him up to the bigs the better. While having Martin available would be helpful short term, I'm not a fan of his play.
  21. Bill Smith had the opportunity to resign him as well. Word is it would have taken seven years 140 million which would be a bargain in today's conditions, but who knows exactly what went on behind the scenes. Smith had traded away Garza and Bartlett and also let Hunter walk so they had the money. I do remember there being rumors that the Dodgers had offered Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw, Adam LaRoche, and Young. In hindsight that would have been the deal I would have taken.
