That sounds about right as long as the money is not outrageous. Also, it must be a club option not a player option.

Thrylos do you know what Scott Baker's contract status is for 2014? Did he sign a 1 yr or more.

Exactly never trade prospects! We love losing 90+ games every year. How else do you think the Twins will ever get an ace? I would not trade Sano or Buxton, maybe Rosario in a package to get a starter(ACE) in return. It is sad that KC is heading in the right direction and the Twins are sliding towards the bottom of the league.

Why do you want the Twins to change the way they handle their prospects? Usually by the time a player that was drafted reaches AAA he is 26 and makes his pro debut at 28. Too bad we can't learn anything from Tampa and draft some quality arms. -
I took long enough but Thrylos finally wrote something that I can completely agree with. Actually quite a few of them would be in Independent Leagues.

So then why did they resign Gardy and bring back all the coaching staff. Terry Ryan should have at least made Rick Anderson go away as part of the agreement before the 2yr mistake was signed.....

Why should anyone care what these players want. How many of the players on the team deserve to be here? I guess they feel comfortable with Gardy, or losers just like to stick together. Too bad Mauer didn't ask for an early opt out in his contract.

Has there been a statement released by the Twins stating that all coaches are being brought back? This is the biggest joke ever if it proves to be true. But look on the bright side, the Twins claim they are willing to spend money this year to improve this dreadful team.

There will always be platoons because the team will never spend the money to sign any actual star players. And if any of the top prospects pan out they will not be willing to pay them.

Vegas Odds on Twins retaining Gardy next year

My guess is that Terry Ryan will only offer a 1 YR deal to Gardy this off season. Gardy will want nothing to do being a lame duck manager with no security and probably work for ESPN or FOXSPORTS1 until he wants to find another manager job if he wants to manage anymore... -
So this means the payroll will be $70-80M way to go out and spend the big bucks. They are all talk and there will be absolutely nobody signed who ranks in the top 30 free agents.

How much would you have to over pay any player to want to play in Minnesota? No pitching staff and the hope of the future tied to the success of some top prospects (I prefer to call them lottery tickets since many never pan out like you hope). At least the Pohlad boys are raking in the money and we are suckers for putting up with such a poor product they put on the field.

Why are you so negative? Look at the teams he has played on, the Twins defense is poor by their standards the Twins offense has been quite offensive most of the season in scoring more than a couple of runs a game. If you look at the FA class of pitchers available their are not many pitchers above him in the Twins bargain bin price range. 2YR $12M would be a great deal if he would accept it. Back to the negativity, if you hate the guy that is your business but you don't need to add multiple posts. Take a deep breath and count to 10 and you should be fine Shane.......

All the Twins need to do is say Mauer has the flu and that should be able to keep him out through Sept 20th at least.

So what do you feel are the odds that the Twins will be able to resign Mike Perfrey? His velocity is up in the mid 90's reaching 96 and he has pitched pretty good since the All-Star break. I was disappointed when the Twins could only sign him to a 1 YR contract and couldn't even get a club option.

How about they just let him start the season at AAA and if continues to rake then we worry about that. Dozier has been one of the very few bright spots this season. Hopefully the Twins treat Aaron Hicks the same way they did Dozier last year and he comes back with some desire to "earn" a position, not get one handed to him for having a few good spring training games.
