  1. I thought we had Joe Mauer for our veteran leadership... Yeah right.
  2. I wonder if Boston is regretting the David Price contract? 7 years $217M ouch. There should never be a team giving any pitcher over 30 a deal longer than 5 years tops. Sad part teams will over pay and get burned in the last 2 years if not more.
  3. You can't overpay for someone who doesn't want to come here. Up to $150M. Not sure the terms since they are not public yet.
  4. Why hasn't anyone brought up making a trade with Houston for a starting pitcher? Once they traded for Gerrit Cole they have 7 starting pitchers on their team. I would expect Charlie Morton & Collin McHugh would be available. Neither top tier but would not cost much in terms of prospects. As well Houston would be open to a trade to replenish prospects after making the Cole & Verlander trades.
  5. So happy this is over.
  6. It might help if you look at the original post.. That sounds like agent talk trying to up sell their client.
  7. Would jump on that deal in a heartbeat.Turn around and flip Colome to St Louis.
  8. ERA might be higher because of those hitters parks in the AL East. The ball seems to jump in Boston, Baltimore, & Toronto. Same part if you would look at his starts he may have had 1 or 2 starts where he got shelled & would make the ERA a little higher than it should be.
  9. Moving Kepler in a deal to get Archer would be fine with me. Depending of course what were the remaining pieces were as well. This could open a spot for Zack Granite or the Twins could easily grab a free agent on a 1 year deal for cheap. Melky Cabrera, Cameron Maybin, Jayson Werth, or Carlos Gonzalez would all be worth bringing in for the right deal. Melky Cabrera should be the target,
  10. With the Dodgers...
  11. Hard pass on Darvish. He clearly wants to go back to LA. Have the Twins actually got to have a meeting with Darvish yet? Or are they saying because of his history in Texas it is not needed. Which goes back to my comment he doesn't want to go anywhere but LA.
  12. So does this push him back to making is 2018 debut like early May if we are lucky? Can't expect him to be ready after 10-12 weeks with no Spring Training. This also means he will not meet the innings for the option to pick up.
  13. If they sign 1 of the Lynn, Cobb, or Arietta it will cost the Twins their 3rd highest draft pick.
  14. If they want to cut down time of games start with the time between innings. But that would cost them advertising money so they would not want to do that. On the same note, when they make a pitching change they need to speed that time up so no need for another commercial break.
  15. Hoping for Dennis "oil can" Boyd to come out of retirement.
  16. Cleveland fans. Changing of the guard coming soon. That's another reason why I am against Yu Darvish signing. Twins would be better served trading for a younger pitcher they can control.
  17. The sad part is that the Indians will be in rebuilding mode after free agency begins to destroy their fine team they had.
  18. For those so high on getting Yu Darvish just look at Felix Hernandez. They are pretty much the same age and both thrown a ton of innings. Right now King Felix has a bum shoulder and will be a shell of his former self. This would be different if the Twins were just 1 player away from a World Series but we all know that is not the case. So the best case would be to trade for a young controllable SP and go that route. Just because Mauer will be off the books doesn't mean you have to spend the money like a fool.
  19. Ask Arizona how they feel right now about Zack Greinke and his massive contract. Pretty much $35M a year through 2021. Actually, Greinke might be the solution to the Twins problem if you want a starting pitcher to anchor the staff. Get Arizona to eat like $12-15M a year & a fair prospect package.
  20. Scott Boras is his agent. Pretty much no way he takes less than 6 years.
  21. As much as it would be good for a couple of years it would not be a wise decision to invest over $150M for a SP who by the way will be turning 32 in August. I thought teams were getting smarter not attempting to sign pitchers over 30 to such long term deals. Sure, teams like New York & LA can stomach signing someone knowing that the last 2-3 years the pitcher won't be worth half is salary. The Twins are not that type of team.
  22. I want no part of Darvish. He will be 32 in August & sounds like the contract is going to $150M at least. It doesn't seem wise to go 5-6 years for a pitcher his age.
  23. The best part of signing Reed is that if the Twins fall out of playoff contention they have a valuable asset that they can flip for some nice prospects.
  24. Still puzzled how people think Mejia has much if any trade value. Same goes for Duffey. Not much more than 5th starters at best.
