    Isn't it even higher, since a HR doesn't count? Right, a HR does not count for BABIP calculations, so if you don't strike a guy out, he either is on 1-3rd, 29% of the time, or hits a HR......

    I just don't take anything* seriously at this point......I think pitchers are still working on hitting certain spots, new pitches, etc.......I don't think they really pitch to the situation this early in the year. *maybe park's power....

    If the argument is, you only extend ace types.....you think the Twins will ever pay a SP $30MM a year? I don't, well, not in the next 10-20 years anyway. If the argument is, you can't afford Berrios and Gibson, we don't agree. If the argument is, Gibson is a number 4 pitcher, no way we agree, not even close.

    what do you think a number 3 will cost in 4 years? By this logic, you would never sign anyone past age 31? Total risk aversion? But, willing to risk it all on guys that have never played in the majors? Who is more likely to be good, a guy that has never played in the majors, or a guy that has had success in the majors?

    I don't think they keep Berrios down for super 2......a few weeks for a year of service? Yes. But I don't see them worrying about super 2. I like Park's chances.

    yes for sure on that Gibson deal. Sure, he could blow out his arm, but a hitter could run into Sano, or get a concussion, or blow out his knee playing with his kids. That price for Gibson would look like a bargain now, let alone in a few years. No on Plouffe. I don't know what their plans are, but they should be Sano or Polanco or something, imo, that is not Plouffe two years from now. But, no, no but I guess. I like that he's worked his way into a good, valuable player, but I'm not sure he's part of the next WS team.....

    That's fair. I didn't think that one thru enough probably, just went with a fast "maybe"....

    No chance on Jepsen. I just don't see the value over using all the guys they've been drafting, or signing whatever FA RP looks legit when the need arises. I would sign that Sano deal today, I don't think he should. Not enough reward, imo, for him. Another $15MM would probably need to be found for him, I think, for his agents to want that deal.

    Hmmmmm. I am going with no on both. I would be more likely to extend Escobar, though. I have always thought Rosario would hit, but I think I need to see one more year......and yes, I know that increases the cost. Being GM is hard.

    oh, I agree with that. But, who would have said, "the price of oil is going to drop, and that's going to cause a huge dip in the market"?

    No one credible can predict with accuracy like that. Sure, it will happen at some point , then the bears can say I told you so, like they always do.

    It's why, if you don't need the money anytime soon, it really does not matter all that much what happens......now, needing it over the next few years, it matters to me.

    Except every number is going up and up.......those numbers will look silly small in a few years.

    If you go with youth, you can send them up and down to AAA when they need a break, or to work on something. If you go with veterans, well, unless they stink (i.e., they aren't just meh), you have kind of stuck yourself with them, with no flexibility. Plus, let's be honest, they probably aren't WS favorites this year. Let's get the youth here, and see what they have.
