  1. Does it matter if they are "better" next year? Really? go young, like in 1982....
  2. He'll be 26 next year.....by the time they are out of options, he'll be 29 or 30. I don't think it matters in this case. I do think you could maybe squint and justify that, maybe. It would not be what I'd do, not given the catchers they have.
  3. I don't think that's what he said, is it? He said they have one of the worst catching situations in the majors, and can't find room on the roster for a 25 year old (who I think will be 26 before next season starts) on the 40 man this September because of a roster crunch....
  4. I actually think this was their plan: Sano=40 bombs Park and Dozier with 25 Plouffe with 20ish Rosario, Mauer, ? with 15-20 I think they wanted to be the Orioles/Blue Jays....but it didn't work out. I really believe that was their plan, hit a boat load of home runs and outscore the others with Santana, Hughes, Gibson, Duffey, Nolasco being a "good enough" rotation.
  5. Remember that Garver thread, where people said we should patient, he'll be in MN in September....good times.
  6. so cut Centeno? Or Suzuki? He's a FA..... It makes zero sense to not have Garver on this roster in Sepbtember, zero. The only constraints are self induced constraints.
  7. sometimes you need to take a step down, to move in a new direction, which is better than the path you are on..... People do understand that, right?
  8. Right now? yes, yes it is. If decent means top 15, yes. Don't forget, they also need RPs badly. If I squint, and assume it all goes well (when it hasn't any year but last, in the last 5), then I can see it.....but that's not the same as expecting it.
  9. if that is their plan.....I'd rather bet on Bridgewater leading the vikings to a SB win this year, than the Twins being in the playoffs next year.
  10. he is on the team. This is the roster. The question was.....how would you do the order, if not Dozier hitting first. As for your Mauer statement, I hope you aren't serious.
  11. so they get less ABs? That seems backward to me. Give your two better hitters 1 less AB a game, so that 1 player can "feel happy"?
  12. Polanco Mauer Sano Dozier Kepler Plouffe Rosario C LF that wasn't so hard.....
  13. Is there any evidence this is true at all? Hughes isn't coming back next year, you can't count on any innings from him at all. If you get some, it is luck/gravy. They are on a 100 loss pace, the FO needs to be realistic, this team is not a playoff team next year.
  14. That's kind of a short rebuttal...... You don't agree that this management team seems to prefer bad veterans from other teams over young players from their own system? It sort of appears that way sometimes.
  15. A trade is like physical therapy.....it hurts like a #$^@$#^, but it makes the recovery so much more effective and swift.
  16. Well, given the inability of Berrios, Buxton, Duffey and other young players, and given the dearth of FA talent available....I see a zero percent chance this team is in the playoffs next year. I'd trade him. For sure. Bad teams need to trade their old, good, players for younger players. It's the only way to speed up the rebuild. The key is not trading for May, Meyer, but for Arrieta.....
  17. I just want him in MN in September.....though KLAW just wrote a long piece on how teams DON'T use September for most prospect call ups anymore, to save service time and because they are calling them up earlier in their careers to use them.
  18. So, if you criticize the twins, in an awful season, you must also post positive things, or your statements are bad? Does the opposite apply? If you say good things are you also required to say bad things? This entire thread is filled with ad hominen attacks. Pretty pathetic. You want good news posted? Post it.
  19. There isn't a ton of evidence innings' limits matter........but I guess I'm ok with a limit this year. Next year, I'd want 150, not 120, if there is a limit.
  20. We might have to work out a trade ...
  21. I think those songs are amazing treasures. They perfectly evoke an era and genre.
  22. Whether you like Drake's music or not, he's probably the most well known right now.....As for Rush, let's just say that their appeal is not universal, though I like their music.....there are days I love Arcade Fire, then I hear the same sound over and over, and think "this is a BIT much". Having just looked up Canadian rock band lists on line, I'm not sure who my favourite* would be. Of the soloists, I think I only have owned Alanis Morrissette music.....I hear a lot of recent Bieber stuff when my 19 year old has control over the car music, he knows how to do hooks. Neil Young is probably the best, most importanat, along with Joni Mitchell. I do like Dianna Krall.... * I believe that is the correct spelling for this topic.
