  1. yup, we've gone back and forth on that first point about 100x! As for the yard work, the yards here are tiny, and we'll have almost no grass. Missing the sanctuary of a back yard seems to be a big deal to us. Also, the ability to have windows open on all sides of a house, and to keep fresh air flowing is a big deal for us, apparently.
  2. No condo. We like the more classic look. Which surprises me, I thought we wanted condo until we lived in apartments again..... Fixer upper is probably more affordable. Prices here are outrageous in the 'hoods we are looking at.
  3. I'll be house hunting, probably, the first few innings. Let's hope the Twins have better luck than me, as one of hte places we were going to look at went off the market this am....
  4. don't try? You'll spend more time distracted by that! IME.
  5. Pre-reviews are BRUTAL.
  6. well, I think the point is that Gray might have pitched to a lower ERA if he had MN's defense..... but if I know the ERA before hand, of course you pick teh ERA leader. But, this whole thing started with someone saying Gray didn't help the Yankees win, I believe.....I presume to say it didn't matter the Twins didn't trade for him or anyone else that could have helped....but I could be wrong about that. Not sure why someone would make that contention about Gray.
  7. my mistake. Was talking about orville, you were talking about discovery! That's what happens with quick phone skimming. sorry. I'll see discovery at some later date. maybe.
  8. Fourth was pretty good too. Not perfect by any means, but most shows take a long time to hit their stride.
  9. wow. *posted over from the, you know, first thread.....
  10. I like lots of stuff I don't agree with. I've made that clear on many occasions.
  11. And staying in the WC race for the 2nd spot is worth keeping a 7th-8th inning RP over? That's kind of the point.....Kintzler isn't the delta between the Twins and being legit. He was a FA. They got a player and 500K in international money for him. That should buy a decent prospect or three, in addition to the player they got.
  12. Not sure what happened to Trout and Upton....Twins caught a break there for sure. OTOH, I think the Twins did grab it and run with it (though that could be narrative playing in my head)....
  13. Weird it comes 1 day after National Drink a Beer day (I know some of you didn't know, so I had 2 to make up for it.....)
  14. Really, at that point you would have bet money at less than 1:1 odds that they'd make the playoffs? And, you'd have made that bet in July, when the Twins had to make a decision also?
  15. Weird how the Twins, in what, 20 years, have never once had the players to trade for a legit pitcher. Weird how other teams do find a way.
  16. As opposed to Colon and Gibson, who before he went on his run was a DFA candidate? The Twins weren't all that good. The other teams weren't all that good. But making multi-million dollar decisions about years of players can't be done on the assumption that only your team is going to all of a sudden play well, and nearly every other team is going to play worse. That's not a good process. If we are going to be pedantic about "fold", choose a different word for "every other team playing worse".
  17. They don't have the luxury of hope being their long term strategy like fans do. IMO, that's the real difference of opinion in this thread. I do think there is some space for not trading Kintzler, but only if you actually add players. Deciding to tread water as a .500 or so team is about the worst decision one can make if you have impending FA types, imo. Either way, I have no idea how much of this run is their doing, or would have happened if another GM/FO was in charge. It's just not something we can actually understand.
  18. then take that part out, and realize the Twins both passed teh marshmallow test, and still won....and do you think Kintzler is the delta between this team and the WS? Does anyone?
  19. Did you quote the most diverse group ever? Robert Jordan and Goldie Hawn? Heck, I don't even know who the others are, and now I want to look
  20. One reason the Yankees are so good this year is that last year, despite being "in the hunt", they traded guys and passed the marshmallow test. The Twins passed it this year (though admittedly passing more on pieces than a full marshmallow), and still won! I'd have preferred getting Gray or Verlander myself. Guys that can help in the next 2-3 years, and this year. The FO preferred to deal from the margins for a possible better future. Kintzler is a nice piece, but he's not the delta between this being a serious playoff contender in July, and he's surely not the delta between this team and being legit WS contenders. edit: But I think Verlander is that delta. Put him in front of ESan and Berrios, and you have a legit WS contending team imo. 2nd edit: I clearly said between this team .... so that would assume you somehow got Verlander and only traded minor league players.
