  1. They go year to year on payroll, they've said that, outsiders have said it, it's what they do.
  2. Just shut it down already! Or, since that won't happen, I got no idea, but good luck ever being relevant
  3. Only surprise is Stewart. A really bad team should pick him. No surprise to me on Diaz at all
  4. Not sure where anyone here said that about Buxton. Ignoring that Max grew up in Germany and didn't play against good competition until he came here seems odd to me. Imo, it is too early to platoon him full time
  5. Kepler is 23 with minimal experience. The harm is slowing his growth. No way he should be platooned at this point.
  6. Nicely played.... As for me, I more choose to use my emotion on things I actually care about.... Sports has become more about analysis and examination for me, and less about attachment, especially individuals.
  7. I have no interest in either. I hope the Twins agree
  8. Has any team signed three big extensions in one year?
  9. How well has not signing good pitchers worked out the last seven years or so? It's not like relying on AAA or cheap pitchers has worked.
  10. Has any team, in history, signed that many large extensions in one year? Not getting a decent starter.... Good luck.
  11. We should ignore the first half of the year? Those results aren't indicative of anything? Not sure I buy that.
  12. If I was there FO, I would not plan on anything from him. And what I got would be gravy. I would also be grooming him to be the two inning guy that pitches 60 plus games, starting the new trend of relievers being used that way.
  13. certainly.....I just found the two statements in the post to be an interesting juxtaposition, given that not every pitcher is primarily about FBs....even in the era of the fastball.
  14. talk you down from being happy? Never.
  15. I don't think that's the exact reading if you read the full quote, and what the FO is saying about first pitches....it's clear some of those players command the curve ball first and foremost, because that's their best pitch. Much like we saw Duffey do his first year, then abandon, then come back to.....
  16. Always buy the stock I sell the next day.....sigh. Sold off some AMZN to make escrow payment on a new house....only cost me 10% so far (though I still own quite a bit in my retirement accounts)
  17. sounded like one philosophy to me....Rich Hill and much of the Houston staff would disagree it's all about the fastball....just seemed like an odd juxtaposition to have those two lines above.... we literally have no idea who or how he'll coach.....let's just hope it works.
  18. Chacin seems like a great candidate to move to the bullpen, pick up 1-2 MPH, shelve the two pitches that don't work, and be good as a RP to me....but I have zero interest in him as a SP. Lynn and Cobb and Chatwood (one of them) would be fine, but not exciting, to me.
