  1. Why do they need post season experience? Isn't having good players more important? It is in my book.
  2. I would be disappointed. One has a future as a good or decent backup. One is past his prime.
  3. Players need rest. Grossman is not a good fielder. He's an ok hitter. I guess it depends on if you want defense or not on the days you rest a starter.
  4. The league is getting younger. It seems teams agree.
  5. I think the approach change is real, I just think expecting thirty home runs as a baseline is optimistic. Good signing, at a good price....
  6. Because batting average is only one measure? Because he's getting older? Because he won't be inexpensive?
  7. Should? I'll take the under. Not a bad signing, but expecting 30 plus bombs?
  8. Preferred Gomez, as he can play an actual position. Gonna be hard to play Sano at DH at all now. Hopefully he won't ever need rest. I don't know what to expect of LoMo, hope he's very good
  9. He hasn't been good at defense in a long time. No idea why that was stressed....
  10. no one is arguing to give up on Lewis. No one is arguing he doesn't look to have a great future.
  11. We're on a tangent, so I'll let it go. But this is bookmarked for the next time I read the Twins can't compete year after year because if you draft late you can't get good players.
  12. Didin't they trade for a great pitcher last year?
  13. there was no clear BPA.... And now you can find good players outside the top ten picks? Winning teams don't have to cycle down? All I'm saying is, if you should away from pitchers, you either need to trade for them, or sign free agents or get lucky. They've indicated by their actions they don't sign elite free agents, or trade for them.... So, it is down to luck.
  14. fair. Either way, I expect him to be a 4/5, which helps this rather mediocre collection, even if it doesn't really fix it.
  15. Thas is literally a straw man argument, compared to what was posted here. I love Rooker on Twitter, but he's quite active and quite vocal. 180 degrees from what they supposedly like about Lewis.
  16. Right....under the definition I was responding to, yikes. I think he'll be a 1.5-2 WAR pitcher. That's an improvement over their existing options, almost certainly. They need more, though.
  17. Why? An ERA and other stats that make it likley they'll lose more than they win, isn't exactly encouraging. (remember, the post was about him being as "good" as last year, not how he'd be better this year). I mean, an ERA over 5 and not going long into games, and only pitching 140 or so innings doesn't exactly scream "I am good enough to help my team win". Is it better than an ERA over 6? Sure. But is that enough to win games? Is that how low the bar is now, bad, but not awful?
  18. we disagree. Imo, if you decide to pass on starting pitching when you have early picks, and don't like to trade prospects (as the FO was quoted as saying last week), you need to be great at hitting and defense. I hope no one is going to come back and say it is "easy" to find good players later, since for the entire existence of this site, people said teams cycle in competitiveness based on when they draft....
  19. In any event....he could be a great player. I hope so. Since they don't have enough pitching, they need to hit and play defense better and better.
  20. If they won't take guys on social media, why is Rooker in this system?
  21. I'm out. If people don't want to look at all the available information, and compare him to other first basemen, that's their right.
  22. It was inevitable he move off third at some point. He was decent there last year. His injury was not caused by weight. This does remind me of the hrbek talk, but with a lot more accusations of laziness or him not respecting the team than hrbek got... It would be greater if he was in elite shape, but this is still an elite hitter we are discussing
