    I don't think FO played themselves. In the history of the franchise, all the FOs combined have signed one big time deal, and he was traded after two years. This is on ownership, not the FO.

    Vazquez is signed for three years, not one. And, it's possible they thought they'd sign more guys when they signed him, and didn't succeed.

    You don't trust the new guys to start because they don't start so you sign a starter. You never trust these guys to start, then? If they trade a pitcher for a short term SS, that would be awful.

    Who suggested trading him for a lottery ticket or A ball player? Sometimes I wonder where people come up with these arguments that don't exist. He's a very good player. If he were made available, the Twins could get plenty. But they aren't dealing him unless they are out of it at the deadline and Martin or Julien or Gordon is ready. I don't get the Gordon comment..... All he's done is improve the last two years, which has come with health and opportunity.

    Gray, Ryan, Mahle, Varland, Ober (Maeda, Winder, SWR, Henriquez, Headrick, Balazovic, Dobnak, et. al.).......how much depth do people want of not front end guys? How do the Twins find out if any of the guys are good, if they won't play them?

    Only 90 pitchers pitched 130 innings or more.....not sure where we expect to find those.

    Gallo and a prospect, or Kepler? I thought that was the discussion. Gallo has more risk than Kepler for sure. But I'd rather have Gallo and a prospect, than Kepler and no additional prospect. YMMV.

    The Twins can't develop the pipeline and show guys are ready if they are not going to let them pitch. I don't believe Wacha is likely to be better than the current players.

    I have no idea what is realistic there or not, but this is one of the better ones. Also, I'm sick and on meds, so who knows.

    As Doc pointed out, no one from the last two drafts is in the majors. They've essentially had four drafts to produce pitchers. They also need to take hitters. The real key is more trades, imo. Kepler and Arraez should be dealt for pitchers.

    They didn't give up on him. They traded a HS pitcher for a good veteran.

    You realize medicine is an art, not science. We have no idea if they screwed up those first two, or if things changed or if they were willing to accept the risk. None.
