  1. Because we know what Varland is, mostly.....you never really know anything about a player until they hit the majors....and he's been MUCH better than Varland. IMO, teams should reward success.....YMMV, of course.
  2. Jenkins is a consensus top 10 prospect, I don't think his value has tanked at all.....not even a little. An aggressive team would move him to AA in July of this year, and to MN in 2025....if he's successful in AA this year. Your timelines are very conservative for a guy ranked this highly. I can't see any way they deal Emma at this point. I think he'd be in MN if he could stop getting hurt.
  3. Also, we don't need to worry about Martin's LT development at this point, imo. He is what he is (though he can improve over time). My point is, it is ok if he only plays 2-3 times a week, and pinch runs......
  4. You aren't getting a good pitching prospect, or anything, for Margot. Their plan is to have him play in Minnesota instead of any of their homegrown players.
  5. No way I deal either OF this year. Lee? He's basically CC and Lewis insurance. What is that worth? Is that worth a controllable pitcher (would cost more than him)? I think it is. I'm happy to give up pitching prospects if I get more than two years of control of a very good SP....
  6. I love varland in the bullpen.... I'm not convinced he's a starter or that anyone would trade for him thinking he was one? I'd have preferred doing this versus the Yankees, they were losing those games anyway.... Not that I think this is a guaranteed loss at all, he's got ability. .... But if you're just trying to get some rest for everyone, and are going to pitch a lesser guy, do it in a game you are likely to lose, imo.
  7. Martin can play second and the OF ... And he's fast. He should be in Minnesota over Farmer, and it isn't close. Leadership? They have zero rookies or even second year players on the roster, let that sink in, other than Lewis. How many leaders do they need?
  8. My point is that we better hope he's not playing SS any time soon, because that means CC isn't...
  9. I was told he was so good at catcher that zero offense didn't matter, and that he magically made the pitchers better (how's that worked these two games?)
  10. This is why I hate this veteran stuff and platoon stuff. Sigh.
  11. He's 23rd in fWAR among CF, with not playing all year. He'd be around 18th had he played all year, so it's hyperbole to say he wouldn't start for most teams. That said, your points are valid, and he could degress from here even more. It's sad, really. So much promise and skill. OTOH, he might just start hitting again, and he'd be around the 10th best CF then.......
  12. according to Fangraphs, the organizational processes are much improved.....I linked to it in another thread (the other site's thread).
  13. I feel good about 2B with Keashcel's progress....and Julien, I'm fairly confident in him. Even Lewis, Miranda can play 3B, but I want him at first. The more I type, the more I realize he's CC's only real backup......and could play 3B or 2B.
  14. They have a terrible system, and I bet they want numbers....but your plan works likely. If I was confident Lewis would ever be healthy, I'd deal Lee for this type of pitcher for sure, but I'm hesitant.
  15. Wow, they have a barren system: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/miami-marlins-top-29-prospects-2024/ I think bulk packages would work! Too bad their new OF is hurt, I'd like him in that package over other options...
  16. We can't eat the peas fast enough, and I anticipate my grape vine will make more grapes that we and our neighbors can eat. I'm a bit worried my tomatoes have flowers already, might pinch them off, as they aren't that big yet (though they'll be massive in a month or so, so whatever). The onions are starting to get big enough to really use, and we have two random potato plants again this year. The beans and basil look good, the zucchini not so much yet. We are trying to restart our rosemary, as the main plant needs to be dug up, but so far the starts aren't working great.....
  17. Not bad at all. They could use some gold trim.....
