  1. Wait, this is for BOTH guys? No way. Zero. One of them? Yes, but not both. This is awful for both, truly.
  2. If you had not stated that ranking systems only look at slash lines, this would be a great post....but come on. Most of these systems are run by former scouts......
  3. Ya, I only want those guys as throw ins, or for low value veterans, generally. I mean, if the other team starts their college guys in A ball for some reason, at least there is a track record you can look at....but ya.
  4. And by then he'll be almost as old as me. He better not be on the 40 man this off season....
  5. No on the Yankees deal. Don't trust that SS to hit at all. Abel isn't even in the top 10 list for the Phillies on Fangraphs. No way I do it for him. Though I think he could be a good RP, like Varland or Jax level. So it is possible, as they NEED catcher prospects. I love the Mets deal. That return would be more than sufficient for me. More than. I likely do the Dodgers deal. I'm unsure on the Cubs deal. If they think the catcher is a catcher, yes, 100%. But I have no idea on that. They aren't dealing in the division, I'd guess. Also, the SS is having surgery on his shoulder, so no way I take that chance. edit: see below, didn't know this was for BOTH pitchers from MN.
  6. My plan? Trade the expiring contracts. Other than that? I'd pretty much fire everyone at this point, but that's not what this thread is about.
  7. I'm not sure, but I know keeping the expiring deals won't help them at all. At least there's a chance they get something if they do trade. They've actually done well selling, they've done less well buying.
  8. The implication is that we think they were going to be allowed to spend more. We could be wrong! But I doubt this FO signs those two thinking the payroll wouldn't go up more. We were doing see well avoiding snark in this thread.....
  9. They literally traded a rental for Ryan. I'm guessing they can get the "raw material" of a starter for several of their non core players.
  10. We're going to go from top pitching prospect in the game to, he's not good, based on a few starts? I doubt baseball agrees with you. I could be wrong, but I'll bet you good money he's not dealt this year based on valuing him as a RP.
  11. I'd like him playing in the OF or first. If he ever plays SS for the Twins, something went incredibly wrong with the three guys ahead of him, not to mention CC. I could see third occasionally also, but this team refuses to move guys off SS even when we know they won't be one, and then wonder why they aren't good in the OF, see Martin.
  12. Great post. The delta between fault and failure is a good one. This is mostly on the ownership, as they clearly changed the rules right after allowing the FO to spend . Then the FO for me. They pick the players and manager. They have utterly failed to develop good, let alone great, players. Their insistence in keeping bad veterans around is a huge issue.
  13. Missing the playoffs pretty much every year should be an indication of that.... They have two or three guys that I trust. That's not enough.
  14. Bunting with the bases loaded is a terrible idea. It's virtually unheard of on professional ball. HS teams do it....
  15. Why wait that long? He's dominated two levels. Other teams promote guys like this. Get him up this year, so he's ready next year.
  16. I'd like to be blown away! I'm not sure what Jax is worth. Less than Duran I'd guess. I was just perusing the prospect lists on Fangraphs again....and I just don't know....but the Mets and Phillies and Cubs prospects intrigue me. I have little interest in the Yankees or Houston (on a quick skim) prospects. I doubt we deal with Detroit. If I'm prioritizing things, I want SP in AA or AAA, catchers at almost any level, and I guess CF? Mostly I want to gamble on upside, not floor. I'm not interested in high floor, low ceiling guys. I have many thoughts on the Twins' prospects and their positions and levels, but I need a break from posting. Have a great night everyone.
  17. I agree with a lot of this! But I'm not sure articles here reflect how the Twins feel. I have no idea if they are looking in the mirror. I sure hope they are.
  18. So many pitcher injuries. Everyone should be happy with Paddock. I'm done typing about the FO and Baldelli, that horse is dust.
  19. I mean, that was clear before, but yes.
  20. And people keep saying dealing him means they can't compete the next two years and should just blow it up. One RP isn't the make or break for any team, especially this one.
  21. Don't need a closer if you can't score runs.....but I'd be in no hurry to deal him. Must get blown out of the water, and then some.
