  1. By the way, why weren't we celebrating Dave Kingman pop fly day!? I guess there's always next year..
  2. Here's a clue: You have to wait until the very last out to find out, or, what would have been the very last out... Corey Provus literally said "and the Twins win it and take the series!"
  3. How much in unpaid tolls do you owe?
  4. Because Santana is the backup Center fielder and Gardy went with Fuld today. Come on. Pay attention.
  5. Why did Mauer leave game? I hope everything is all right. Gives a person a bad feeling.
  6. I agree with Chief and will say our favorite team seems to be in the middle of the dentity crisis that most people on these boards, on both sides of the issues, were predicting might happen. Also, I'm starting to feel a cognitive dissonance with the quality of our farm system-- we are told it's the best in the majors, but we have no one who is MLB ready to call up? (Yeah yeah injuries to Sano etc). Hmmmm.
  7. I always wondered why he spent 3 years in rookie ball.
  8. I won't address the Willingham injury because I doubt there's anything fishy going on, but I will back you up BigTrane in general. Let's take the Pelfrey situation at face value. Scenario: Pelfrey's pitching horrible, so one day after another horrible start, he walks into Gardy's office. Pelf says, hey skip, I hurt my groin. Gardy says, don't worry buddy, we'll put you on the disabled list. That's basically how it was reported. He could have skipped a start and tried to rehab it, or offered to pitch in the pen if it might reduce wear and tear. Instead, straight to the DL. Major League teams liberally abuse DL privileges. Sometimes we get little to no information about a guy. That's what got Mauer in trouble. If the team can't or won't explain an injury then the fans should ask questions. Definitely, fans should also know when they are out of their element though and be good listeners too. I've never had a broken wrist and it must be a pain in the a$$ just going through life struggling with activities we normally take for granted. I read that Fuld broke his wrist once and it put him out several months. Glad to see Arcia coming around from his wrist injury in good time. That's all I got.
  9. I listened to the daily Gardy/Provus chat before the game today and Gardy was pretty much doubling down on Anyone-as-Outfielder meme. "Santana is taking some fly balls" and all that. Same thing you heard. Well, if Santana does play outfield, let's hope no one hits a ground ball to him. What do the defense metrics say about Fuld? Basically he looks fearless, seems to have good range, and throws himself into somersaults to get as much on his throws as he can. Punto-esque. Note to front office: that probably makes him an injury risk.
  10. Levi, I realize you are too far invested in your position by now (we've all been there) but there's not really much of a difference. jmo
  11. Try mowing your lawn at 2 a.m. Who's problem does that become?
  12. Fuld made a catch on a fly ball last night almost identical to the fly ball that landed Hicks on the DL. Fuld will be fine. Like an outfield version of Nick Punto. Don't expect him to keep hitting but he can steal a base without getting picked off at least. I'm confused about who in this organization thinks that playing outfield is merely shagging fly balls during BP and taking some fungos. I'm not totally impressed with LENIII's criticism as it seems to be directed to Antony more than anyone else; in other words, the small fish. But maybe this will embolden him to ask some harder questions of the more powerful people running this team (he's a reporter, right?) though I don't have the grudge against Ryan like many folks arguably do and would actually like to see Ryan left alone until he's been coming to the park regularly again. Meanwhile, like I said, Fuld will be fine, a fourth outfielder pressed into starting duty for the next week or so (at least).
  13. If Pelfrey is still able to hang around and be "good in the clubhouse" then it's all good, because even taking away Pelfrey's stats, it's still the worst rotation in the majors I think.
  14. Interesting, considering Escobar has done fine as our new shortstop. also, I'm surprised it's a position player as we all know how Gardy hates carrying only 13 pitchers.
  15. UPDATING Runs: Dozier (26) still ranked first in MLB. Mauer, Plouffe (each at 20) tied at 11th in MLB. Hits: Colabello has cooled off. Two hits in the last week. Mauer now leads the team in hits (31) and ranks tied-12th in AL. Home Runs: Dozier (7) is in an 8-way tie for 7th in MLB RBI: Colabello (27) is still 3rd in MLB. Plouffe and Suzuki tied for 15th overall, not bad. BB: Dozier (21) and Mauer (19) rank in top 10 of MLB. Twins lead MLB with 133, followed by Oakland (130) and Boston (124). Still a great trend …… The Dodgers are up to 7th in MLB in BB with 100 after drawing 18 walks from us in yesterday's doubleheader. (Can't say walks cost us the game, as none of the 12 walks in the second game factored into the scoring!) SO: Dozier, Kubel, Mauer each sit at 28 K's, none among the top 20 for most strikeouts …… Team is 10th highest with 238. Not a big deal. BA: Here's the unfortunate drop. No one who qualifies is over .300 any longer... as of today, Kubel, Mauer, Suzuki, Colabello, all batting between .290 and .300, Plouffe cooled off to .277 and hopefully not back on his way down to the .230s. OBP: Mauer leads the team at .397, which ranks 19th in MLB. SLG: Colabello still leads team, with .470, but is out of MLB Top 50. OPS: Plouffe leads with .819 but also out of top 50.
  16. Haha, show me the play where the injured his groin. Is the code for something? Is this related to the Christian Ponder rib injuries we hear about every year?
  17. Ugh, this feels like a "take a break, everyone" kind of night. That said, I will probably be lurking anyway Nolasco, go out there and give us 8 innings or don't come back. No one get hurt please. This is only 1 game out of 162 and no need to play every one like it's the NFC championship game. That;s a good way to burn out.
  18. Haha, there's another story in that article besides Center Field. I wanted to make a joke in the game thread last night about how soon we would hear the Twins whine about their bullpen needing rest. After the entire team just had three days off. Great reporting LENIII looks like it's already happening!
  19. "...and if anybody gets on, Brian Dozier" stick it out a few more minutes!
