Without having the deep data in front of me, or the benefit of the 1000s of Twins Daily articles, I am going to guess that Lopez’s problem (‘problem’) this year has actually been being too much in the strike zone. His walk:inning ratio has always been very good, one walk per every three or four innings, but this year it is up to 1 walk per 6 innings.
my Rx for Pablo: issue a few more free passes, even in touchy spots. Let a pitch slip out of your hand a little more often (oops, didn’t mean to throw that one in so close…)
