  1. Well now you're not the 1 million IQ manager now, are you?
  2. But the real challenge is to hit the school itself, 50 feet or so past the fence
  3. Twins are giving the Yankees a class in lefty-righty splits
  4. please no Arcia gifs, we are trying to win a game here
  5. so yeah, the Dozier caught stealing was absolutely brutal. Bad jump, it was a pitchout, and the shortstop was putting out his cigarette as he bent down to tag Dozier out. Dozier was yelling into the dugout as he jogged back. Teams have a "do not steal on this pitch!" sign, and Twins coaches need to learn when to use it!
  6. Maybe the Twins would have a better chance of winning if they didn't get 37 base runners thrown out stealing every inning.
  7. No. Play for 4 hours, whoever is leading at end of 4 hours, wins game
  8. In right field about 50% of time? Yes
  9. Torii Hunter's mentorship of Buxton and Hicks has been a True Hollywood story this season!
  10. If Arcia was in another organization, he'd be exactly the kind of guy that all his haters were wishing Terry Ryan would bring in to the Twins organization: a major league ready outfielder and great teammate with boundless energy and tremendous power (which he has ready demonstrated at the MLB level) who is entering his prime years.
  11. However, in a last ditch effort of espionage, Ryan was able to disguise a food blender as a baseball glove and stuff one into both players' luggage after they were packed. This caused Chih Wei Hu to lacerate his left hand when he tried to put it on. Ryan is sneakier than you think.
  12. Spoken like a true front office employee, Doug I will advocate for Arcia for as long as he's in the organization. He is 100% raw talent and he's going to put it together someday, along the lines of Ortiz and Gomez. I don't want to keep seeing those guys leave the organization and then flourish. I don't care if Arcia "straightens out his act" or not. In fact, I kind of like his energy. The Arcia obsession is just beginning!
  13. Good question. I don't think it falls directly on Bruno necessarily, but Molitor's quotes after the game were about what you would expect-falls on the players this time. Twins batters were too pull happy, they didn't wait back on pitches.
  14. I might agree with this, except for all those outfield assists last night
  15. Hey man, doesn't hurt to ask, right? Lot of people have already retired his number, and he hasn't even gotten out of the gate.
  16. Good question. Could be 1, 2, 3, some combination, or none of the above. I understand Arcia is erratic in the field and will never be as good as the average or median outfielder. But. But, actually when Arcia played in right field, he was capable of making some nice plays. That seems to be a more natural position for him. His best play was the soft fly or liner towards the foul line, on his glove side, when he could initiate a full-out run towards the ball without worrying about running into anybody, and then make a sliding catch of it. Here is one example. Those are plays Hunter does not make. People are contributing to this myth that Arcia is the worst outfielder in the major leagues, when he's really not even that close. Even Hunter was worse than Arcia in 2014. If the Twins are smart, they will walk over to the shredder and feed Arcia's entire 2015 season into it. Someone in the office should tell him he has a future here. Give him the inside shot to win the RF job next season and platoon him against lefties. Substitute him from the game in the late innings when favorable.
  17. True, I believe the Catholic church has a fairly consistent position on life, even if a majority of its members don't hold that position. The problem is, the Catholic church is not a trusted institution right now. However, the armed service branches (Army, Navy, etc.) are now addressing social problems like STDs and unwanted pregnancies. Condoms are now freely distributed and easily obtained. Service members undergo regular training on sexual harassment and consent. So, there is a dialog. These are trusted institutions, especially more so among conservatives than liberals. Would it help pro-life conservatives to know that these institutions care about this problem too? Would data reported from these bodies carry more weight than data from academia? I'm wondering if there are some public figures who are persuasive and can use the example of the service branches as leaders in addressing social problems.
  18. Looks good to me (Relatively speaking)
  19. My choices would be: 1. Duffey 2. Berrios 3. Gibson (radio guys said he volunteered to pitch on short rest) 4. Graham Michael Bowden is not an option to be taken seriously. This is his third organization in 2015 and he's been with the Twins for three weeks. And Berrios has vastly out-pitched Bowden in those three weeks. God bless Michael Bowden for persevering and sticking with it (he's been to show a couple times with other clubs), but he's not pitching Saturday's game. I'm actually kind of upset at Berardino for getting me worked up. (but at least I know Michael Bowden is in the Twins organization now, which I didn't hear about until now).
  20. Michael Bowden. Michael. Bowden.
  21. I respect your opinions, but couldn't disagree more with this. you are setting up a false equivalence where anyone pro-choice becomes labeled extreme or manipulative, simply because you presumably consider pro-lifers to be extreme or manipulative.. In life or death matters, I am in favor of letting the people with the most intimate understanding of the matter make the final decision. Period. This can go for the mother-unborn child relationship, the spousal relationship where one spouse must suddenly act as a health care agent for the other, or for the adult children making the final, slow decisions for their terminally sick parents. That is the pro choice position as I understand it. What is manipulative about that? I know this could be more articulate but I wanted to dash off this reply right now while it's on my mind. I think you get my point. I've enjoyed the thread but wanted to respond. In that spirit I would ask: should not the people closest to the situation be making these decisions?
