  1. He retired the side by allowing an utterly screaming line drive directly at an outfielder. You be the judge.
  2. LOL you are so wet behind the ears Chief
  3. Spoiler alert:He was sent to the corner.
  4. Speaking of clueless, who's idea to bring Duensig into a 2 run game?
  5. I prefer to think of him as clueless
  6. Laugh all you want, but I'll hang on to Graham too. Anyone who pulls their pants up, so that their stirrups are easier to see for their mother, has their priorities in the right place.
  7. I like this comment, but only in the informal, game-thread sort of way (But yeah it's nice to imagine Vargas, or "Little Papi" developing as our 1b the next several years)
  8. Note to RB: This qualifies as a positive post
  9. Can you challenge second deck vs mezzanine? Or whether which fan gets credit for the catch and which for the assist? Help me I don't understand.
  10. also the bank run on the front office -- give us our money back
  11. No, that's the plan the Twins came up with, sending Duffey out against this lineup. It was just a horrible idea and nobody wanted to make a stink with all the other stuff going on.
  12. He does have a nice breaking ball with some bite, Toronto ain't biting yet tho...
  13. After taking a pitch almost over his head that was called a strike, Sugar Shane singles to left
  14. Both bullpens warming up already (And if no one in the Twins pen is actually playing catch yet, they will be before five innings) I'm excited for Duffey but he couldn't have drawn a worse assignment!
  15. Escobar has good at bats. He just does.
  16. I don't think Toronto is even paying attention to how many runs the Twins score tonight.
  17. Most people would agree with you, but I would also call it "in a tough situation, never ask a vet like Joe to carry more than his weight" The Twins face Cole Hamels next week. Joe is 0-9 versus Hamels. Don't rest him; bat him sixth that night, and then leave him there!
  18. No, we are not cutting Hunter. I'm also not necessarily arguing for Robinson's continued employment. Robinson could provide a lot more value to this team than the 8th reliever (which ever one is considered 8th, nobody knows anymore). What we lose in a bench bat option, we might gain back with experience and speed on the bases and a guy who knows how to steal second late in the game. Molitor doesn't seem to pinch hit anyway, so the concept of an additional bench bat is almost beside the point to me. Robinson also plays outfield well and should sub in for Arcia. I'm not saying Robinson should be the DH or that he should get a start any more often than every week or two, or when someone needs a blow.
  19. Shane Robinson and Oswaldo Arcia can exist together on the same roster, with Robinson as a late inning pinch runner and outfield substitute for Arcia when necessary.
  20. Calling up Miguel Sano (3-4 weeks too late IMO) and getting Ervin Santana back from suspension can arguably serve the same purpose as making a trade. You are improving your team with better players you didn't previously have. Also removing Santana from shortstop improves the team appreciably (sorry Santana lovers). That's another thing that was done 6 weeks too late. But the bullpen stuff is really a disappointment, to put it mildly.
  21. There's no shame in a former batting champ batting in the six hole in the latter part of his career. The Twins hit against David Price yesterday, a tough lefty. That would have been the perfect time to drop Mauer to sixth in the order and leave him there. Instead he didn't have to play at all, and then came back tonight batting second. Mauer had some big hits earlier in the season. Those are not helping us right now. I don't know if this is strictly a Molitor thing, what Jack Goin's opinion of it is, if it's an organizational decision to keep him at the top of the order in the mistaken belief fans will be upset if he's dropped down, or what the deal is.
  22. It feels like we are revising our estimations of Hu after the fact. I'm not predicting anything here, but the writers on this site had him Top 20 and Top 15 as the season wore on, a couple of our bloggers had him higher than that. These are the guys I presume follow Twins prospects more closely than the national stringers (I could be wrong). To me, TD rankings are more reliable than MLB or industry rankings. I don't mind trading Hu but I would not dismiss the idea that he might have been a borderline Top 10 prospect heading into 2016 if things had worked out a little different. With the proximity of Tampa Bay's offices to Fort Myers and other Florida League towns, I'd also bet Hu was scouted adequately enough. Hu surely has flaws but no doubt the Rays also think they can do something with him. They have a good record developing pitchers.
