    Several posters here have been saying the same thing, and using that "ain't gonna last" thinking to justify the Twins not making any deals at the deadline. It would be nice to hear just one of those posters tell us at what point, what position in the standings, they think the Twins should go make a deal.

    You can thank Mauer for Polanco's error last night. Mid-hops aren't easy to field but MLB first baseman do need to field them regularly.

    Well, Jepsen is probably an improvement to our bullpen in the strictest dictionary definition of the word. It looks like Jepsen is also making better use of a change up the last few years as his velocity has declined. If the Twins can figure out when Jepsen should throw that thing and not throw it, he should be ok. Also apparently you can't have this guy come in the middle of an inning based on his Inherited Runs against. We have a lot of guys like that it seems. Any word on who gets the pink slip from the 25?

    If things had shaken out differently, Hu might have been a top 10 or 12 prospect heading into 2016.

    Why don't you think Hu is a B prospect? He was rated 15th best Twins prospect coming in to the season on Knuckleballs... who is also a TD poster and lives in Cedar Rapids and watched most of Hu's starts IN PERSON last season. So, Hu was a top 15 prospect on the same lists that Sano and Buxton were on. Hu might have been a Twins top 10 prospect going into 2016 if things shook out differently. Also, Hu has a better stat line than Corey Meisner, who was traded for Clippard this week. Yeah these are A ball guys, but still. Why couldn't Ryan just say "no one in our Top 20." So yeah, I think Ryan overpaid. I also bet you that Tampa Bay got the guy they wanted. Did Ryan get the guy he wanted? I think this also gets to why people are just put off by this trade/non-trade trade deadline inaction.

    This was post #10 and captures my thoughts perfectly. Jepson is ok but maybe there were bigger fish to angle for? Twins could have maybe thrown in a corner bat like Vargas, who had nowhere to play, and then gotten Jake McGee, who is miles better and younger than Jepsen. I don't know, just an idea. The last couple weeks just leaves you with a "that's it?" type of feeling. Whatever, it's Ryan and he plays the long game, the verrrrry long game. Jepsen will help and needs to get to the park tonight if possible.

    Lowe flew under my radar-but then it's not my job to track Seattle Mariners relief pitchers. He would have been a great add. After reading up on the mess that is the San Diego Padres, I highly doubt the Twins involve themselves with anything Padres-related, they are requiring a massive salary dump in any deal for a reliever, and I can't blame Ryan for not answering any calls from the San Diego area code. Good day y'all and let's get a win tonight; see you in game thread I hope. At this point I think I'll be happy if the Twins just promote another guy from AAA and have that overdue heart to heart talk with Mike Pelfrey.

    Agree, we've been through so much with Hicks that he is almost untradeable. I'm not 100% sure we will slip under .500 though.

    I wasn't looking at Mauer's recent OPS when I made that comment. I was going off of the recent statistic that in Mauer's last 19 games he's had 2 RBI. That's a pace for 20 RBI in 190 games, or for Mauer, 20 RBI in one and a half seasons. Sorry for the confusion.

    I do agree with chief on this one. It wasn't a intentional walk situation. There were two out and they were losing by a fistful of runs, and as Glunn said, Hicks worked the count in his favor. So they walked him to pitch to Mauer who has been struggling in RBI situations.
