  1. I assumed you had Correia ahead of Deduno on the De-Done-o list. however I could cut Deduno a little more slack, a couple more starts maybe. He's got so much movement on his pitches he's nice to have around. Unfortunately not a lot of movement today.
  2. Way too many quality arms waiting in AAA.
  3. True. He might have been cut when Willingham and Arcia returned, if he was anyone other than Jason Kubel.
  4. Welcome to the dark side, jjswol...... We can debate early injuries and Bartlett's retirement and such, but a narrow question for you, stringer bell, or whoever else comes along and cares to answer-- do you feel Gardy's outfield options were limited yesterday with Santana and Nunez in the outfield and Hicks and Kubel on the bench.
  5. Yangervis Solarte is on there.
  6. I also think Perkins has the inside track. Gardenhire was named a bench coach and he and Perk seem pretty tight, so if Gardy has any sway it might be Perkins (provided he maintains the numbers). OTOH adding a former Yankee might be a fun bit of schadenfreude for a Boston manager. On the third hand, if Dozier continues hitting (say he somehow reaches 20/20 at the break) it will be tough to leave him off. And obviously I am just guessing about all of this
  7. The 91 team was a validation of the 87 team so for me, 91 was more satisfying. And they were just a better team. Geez I've become an old-timer
  8. Hey, the more optimists on this site, the better... I've always thought the Twins could play to within spittin' distance of .500 this year, simply because of Ryan's free agent pitcher signings and the natural development of the young guys. But I think Division or Wild Card is too much to expect.
  9. If Colabello had had the benefit of a MLB-affiliated minor league development track instead of 7 years in independents, he might have become a very good MLB hitter.
  10. If Santana continued playing center, it would only be a matter of time before we saw something-Escobar or Colabello-like.
  11. Thanks jorgenswest for putting this together. Like Sconnie said, a case might be made for any one of those guys in isolation. Now step back and consider that all three of them together were essentially promised a spot on the team, regardless of their spring training performance (or, non performance) or regardless of what if anything they had to contribute.
  12. Yeah that one.. I'm not calling the Twins walk-taking ability a fluke (I think it's for real) but what if that inning had gone 1-2-3, what would the season projection look like then?
  13. Can you post the 2014 projections after subtracting out that outlier inning against Toronto?
  14. If Pelfrey is still able to hang around and be "good in the clubhouse" then it's all good, because even taking away Pelfrey's stats, it's still the worst rotation in the majors I think.
  15. Honestly, it's completely out of the hands of anyone to make any changes to the ballot after the season starts? Gimme an effin' break, MLB executives! But, don't the coaches select the bench players? There might be that going for Colabello.
  16. I will kick Mauer off for the moment and replace him with Tony O, then reassess later. As far as Carew, he has the baseball skills but priority for me goes to the lifers who gave their careers to this organization. As far as which pitcher, that's a tougher call.
  17. Every team has their ghosts, not just the Twins, no doubt.
  18. Yeah, I was going to say you forgot guys like Cuddyer and Revere, either of whom could of filled in the Outfield for the recently-retired Jason Bartlett
  19. I love it - I think 10 years from now a consensus Mt Rushmore might look like Harmon, Puck, Hrbek, Mauer. Personally I would have TK on there-- just hard to overestimate what he's done for this organization, from even before he was named manager in 86 until right up to today.
  20. So when he cocks his wrists to swing he's also pushing his hips back at same time? i am more and more convinced the Twins should crowdsource their coaching and front office duties to Twins Daily readers
  21. Good perspective. I think Gardy has some flaws but when you take your mind out of the present and think about the bigger picture, it's been an impressive career.
  22. Yeah I'm hoping guys like Parms, Herrmann and Diamond go down to Rochester and get their chemistry straightened out ..hey it worked for Bartlett..
