  1. Kudos to Brock and the rest of Twins Daily. It's so easy and tempting when reaching a milestone on a big project to take a quick break, take a breath, a step back to enjoy the "fruits of your labors" for a time, but you guys have kept on it, even after the new site went on line. Bravo!
  2. I agree, and liked having them nearer the top / above the fold (now they seem to be further down the front page and squashed below numerous ads & such), the excerpt is a nice addition, I might also like seeing the most recent poster too, however.
  3. This is going to be great, but it's always a little (or a lot) awkward at first.. Like coming home one day and all your furniture is moved around, new chairs you haven't sat in before and someone changed the curtains, the kitchen table is sitting in the master bedroom, the bookshelf you donated 2 years ago is back in the corner where the fishbowl was, and so on.
  4. Love it. Here's another link http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/mariners-angels-trade-arrow-celebrations?ymd=20140720&content_id=85515492&vkey=news_mlb
  5. Good work jorgenswest.. is the league +/- percentage right at 0.0? If so I'd say Pinto is just fine as a pitch framer. (selectively throwing out Correia and Pelfrey, both who will not be around here much longer.)
  6. Where did this come from? Deduno could be a great mop up guy, as many people have been saying all along. He kept us in the game Friday.
  7. Dozier, Perkins, Plouffe-- I think you are on the right track. Sell all the usual names, and then maybe one of those guys too, who might actually bring something in return. The Twins system looks to have middle infield depth. I'd personally keep Perk though.
  8. No one on this thread has cheerleaded for Molitor yet, so let me be that guy. Molitor falls more into the TK temperament than the Gardy temperament. Which would also rule out Ozzie, Douggie, and Redmond for me. That's not to say TK didn't have an edginess, but Gardy's just got too much personality and clubhouse presence for my taste. I'd like to see the next manager just fade into the background, someone who lets the young guys put their own stamp on the next winning Twins teams. Also, someone already close to the team who knows the Twins community inside out. Seems like Molitor could be the guy, though I'm not wedded to him.
  9. Cut? You mean, like, "hey Joe, I need a word with you in my office"? Seems pretty harsh.
  10. I'd bet his odds are greater than 50-50 that he implodes at some point, but for now he's doing ok. It was actually about this time last year he had that awful game against the Yankees, and we have the Yankees coming to town in a couple weeks, so brace yourself for what's to come.
  11. Are umpires a variable?
  12. I love the first hand account - thanks! Sounds like a good honeymoon to me..
  13. I assumed you had Correia ahead of Deduno on the De-Done-o list. however I could cut Deduno a little more slack, a couple more starts maybe. He's got so much movement on his pitches he's nice to have around. Unfortunately not a lot of movement today.
  14. Way too many quality arms waiting in AAA.
  15. True. He might have been cut when Willingham and Arcia returned, if he was anyone other than Jason Kubel.
  16. Welcome to the dark side, jjswol...... We can debate early injuries and Bartlett's retirement and such, but a narrow question for you, stringer bell, or whoever else comes along and cares to answer-- do you feel Gardy's outfield options were limited yesterday with Santana and Nunez in the outfield and Hicks and Kubel on the bench.
  17. Yangervis Solarte is on there.
  18. I also think Perkins has the inside track. Gardenhire was named a bench coach and he and Perk seem pretty tight, so if Gardy has any sway it might be Perkins (provided he maintains the numbers). OTOH adding a former Yankee might be a fun bit of schadenfreude for a Boston manager. On the third hand, if Dozier continues hitting (say he somehow reaches 20/20 at the break) it will be tough to leave him off. And obviously I am just guessing about all of this
  19. The 91 team was a validation of the 87 team so for me, 91 was more satisfying. And they were just a better team. Geez I've become an old-timer
  20. Hey, the more optimists on this site, the better... I've always thought the Twins could play to within spittin' distance of .500 this year, simply because of Ryan's free agent pitcher signings and the natural development of the young guys. But I think Division or Wild Card is too much to expect.
  21. If Colabello had had the benefit of a MLB-affiliated minor league development track instead of 7 years in independents, he might have become a very good MLB hitter.
  22. If Santana continued playing center, it would only be a matter of time before we saw something-Escobar or Colabello-like.
