  1. Always nice to get a groundout on a 2-0 count
  2. Is this a True/False question? (Edit: let me explain to people why this is funny...)
  3. Welcome to the club—I assumed you were already a member!
  4. Its called “pitch take poker” to see if the pitcher will throw me the same thing next at bat
  5. He looks different this year. He looks... a year older
  6. Ahh yes, I love those famous 12-minute triangle solos, giving the rest of the orchestra time to go backstage take a leak and smoke a quick joint
  7. The transition from Senators to Twins in 1961 allowed future teams to take a first letter that was already in use. It’s also the rule that teams that actually win championships are permitted to spell their name in reverse, meaning that the Lynx, as Xnyl, can continue the string.
  8. Bremer: “Dobnak now with a devastating slider...” Milwaukee batter: Line drive base hit, off of slider _______________ It’s the Internet. Of course we should overreact.
  9. It’s like Bally hired a bunch of inexperienced new fresh-faced interns to run the video and broadcast production
  10. Don’t worry, Donaldson just playing out the April Fool’s injury prank to make us uncomfortable
  11. “We will always have that” — us, in July
  12. Nice AB by Sano, fouling a 1-2 pitch instead of whiffing on it Then laying off some good pitches and making Woodruff work another 7-8 pitches
  13. I saw an MLB article that predicted the Twins as the third best team in the AL, but only second best in Central. I would love to see the Angels in the playoffs. The last spring rumor I saw was they will let Ohtani off the leash to be a true two-way player, instead of managing his days off around his pitching and DH. That would be fun!
  14. Without Astudillo, the OPS this spring might be closer to .246
  15. With the season in the rear view mirror already, good to give the young guys a look
  16. Interesting side note that may mean nothing: Dobnak has the same agent as Nick Anderson
  17. Wow ok. Nothing wrong with this for Dobnak. Not sure what leverage he had over the front office. It could start to add up if they do this with every young FA or late round guy who shows something in the show.
  18. Sure, traditional stats, a couple of home runs this week and Kepler’s spring looks normal again. but what about the new metrics? Does Kepler’s bat speed / exit velocity / spray chart compare with prior spring trainings? Are those worth looking at?
  19. I love Maeda; I was so excited I was posting in ALL CAPS for a few days after they traded for him (except that I wasn’t, because there was that trade glitch with Betts that put the trade on hold a few days and we couldn’t be 100% sure it would happen) I see your point. If someone feels Maeda can repeat his 2020 performance, and that same someone is bullish on Pineda, then it makes sense that this is the best rotation in a long time.
  20. If postseason performance is a criteria, keep in mind Pineda has never appeared in a postseason game. (That’s not predictive, but it probably says something important.)
  21. You don’t remember last few seasons? I like Odorizzi at #3 more than Pineda, by a mile. I didn’t mind Gibson, who wasn’t great, but whose worst sin to Twins fans was having a name that rhymed with “nibble.” I don’t mind Happ, and one of the younger guys might surprise, but.. we’ll see.
  22. At least the B squad is scoring some runs today...
  23. To be determined. Thome and Cruz wanted to settle this question once and for all, with a foot race, back in 2012. Unfortunately, we don’t have the answer, because neither has crossed the finish line yet. * Ba-dump tsch *
  24. Good question amjgt, I think Kirilloff has a good arm but I am getting mixed signals about the rest of his fielding / run prevention. With Kepler already in right field, and gotten pretty good playing the kasota overhang, I hope the Twins just leave Kepler in right? What do you think?
