A third of the season is complete. Buxton on pace for 48 HR
  2. DJL44
Lee is the utility player, not Lewis. If Lewis returns to 3B, they can move Lee anywhere in the infield.
  3. DJL44
Let’s see how he does when batters start looking for the change
  4. DJL44
It could just as easily go Keaschall, Lee, Culpepper, Lewis
  5. DJL44
I think his walk rate will also matter. When they sent him down he was chasing garbage. With better swing decisions and better mechanics, Royce can be an impact player again.

This might be a buy-and-sell deadline. There won’t be a lot of sellers with the American League so weak. The Twins still have too many OF/DH bats and could use a first baseman. They could swap a LH reliever, like Banda, for a RH arm. There are moves they can make to improve in the near term without sacrificing the future.
  7. DJL44
I can’t see them offering Jeffers a qualifying offer. That’s a $23M deal which would make him the highest paid catcher in baseball. He would absolutely accept.
  8. DJL44
Royce has a SLG above 1.000 in AAA
  9. DJL44
Taylor Rogers is tradeable just like Coulombe was last season.
  10. DJL44
It's a better idea now than it was then. I can't imagine they want to keep Larnach through another year of arbitration.
  11. DJL44
Anyone over age 29 should be on the "potential trade" list.
  12. DJL44
Even if they want him back in free agency, they should 1000% trade Ryan Jeffers.
  13. DJL44
Bailey Ober should be on this list. I'm not sure how much longer he can fool people with declining velocity.
  14. DJL44
He could hit better than .216 in AAA. Gonzalez is going to learn quite a bit in a few days. Then he's going to go back to AAA and learn some more.
  15. DJL44
Giving someone playing time for “learning” is EXACTLY giving a scholarship. It means you’re valuing development of prospects over winning baseball games. That means the playing time is not earned.
  16. DJL44
Versus Tolle is fine, but Gonzalez should be pinch-hit for as soon as he's going to face a RHP.
  17. DJL44
That's fine. I want Larnach pinch hitting for him when Tolle leaves the game.
  18. DJL44
If you go to an actual website - not a Reddit thread. You'll see that there are 25 qualified AAA hitters above .300. Mickey Gasper is hitting .296. https://www.mlb.com/milb/stats/batting-average?page=2
  19. DJL44
Why? He hasn't earned playing time over Larnach. I hate giving scholarships to minor leaguers who haven't earned playing time. He's hitting .216 in AAA, that's not someone I want to give at-bats to. I can imagine the conversation Shelton would have with Trevor. "Hey Trevor, you're having a good season but Tristan Gray's wife had a baby so we're going to bench you in Fenway."
  20. DJL44
I would platoon Gonzalez with Larnach but I wouldn’t outright bench Larnach.
  21. DJL44
You’re benching Clemens on his dad’s bobble head night? Ouch.
  22. DJL44
Should they bench Larnach or Martin?
  23. DJL44
Except you can get false confidence with success despite a bad approach.
  24. DJL44
The whole concept of a “reset” in AAA might be a fiction. The offensive environment is so different from MLB. Hitting .300 is relatively easy in AAA and nearly impossible in MLB.
  25. DJL44
Gasper has a 950 OPS in the same league as Fedko. AAA has been quite easy for hitters this season. Subtract at least 200 points of OPS to get a guess at MLB production. 250 points might be a better estimate.
