  1. They did pretty well signing Coulombe, Bader and France. That was pretty good bang for the buck. I think they can find a cheap 1B free agent again. Finding a C and SS will be more difficult - not much available on the free agent market. I hope they spend some money extending Jeffers contract.
  2. This team has a LOT of pre-arb talent. It doesn't need to spend $160M to be competitive. The Brewers led the NL in wins with a $120M payroll. I would be looking to trade Ober and Larnach because they have better, cheaper, younger talent ready to take those spots. That frees up $12M and returns talent to fill holes elsewhere. If they're going to spend money, SS, C and 1B are the places to spend. I don't think they need to spend $75M on those three positions to compete in the AL Central.
  3. Last time I checked, the Twins are an MLB franchise, not an NFL team. There is already plenty of Vikings content here, for some reason I can’t comprehend.

  5. They write about something every day. I thought writing about the playoffs, the most interesting thing happening in baseball right now, would be better than a dozen articles speculating about the new manager.
  6. An unfunny smartass remark. Talking about playoff games beats rehashing the Twins 2025 season. Baseball Think Factory is dead and there is no other good place to discuss MLB as a whole. I thought I might enjoy discussing those games here with the people who follow Twins Daily. Your remark makes me reconsider that.
  7. The Twins get players as young as 16 years old. Their job is to make hitters more valuable. Players need a certain level of power to succeed in major league baseball. Slap hitters rarely find a niche. Think what Brian Dozier would have been if he stayed the single digit HR hitter he was in the minors.
  8. Funderburk saw his stock go up. He’s not an all-star but he looks okay.
  9. I hope Buxton gets enough league MVP down ballot votes to trigger his bonus.
  10. “He didn’t oversee a hitting philosophy that has utterly, disastrously failed the team for the past five seasons.” He absolutely did that. That is the manager’s responsibility.
  11. I would appreciate a playoff game update like we saw for the minor league updates every day during the season. I can't watch every game.
  12. Looks like they have no worries about Rule 5 next winter unless someone they leave exposed this year takes a step forward (DeAndrade?).
  13. Rumor mill has Thad Levine as the frontrunner for the Rockies GM job. Could Rocco follow him to Denver?
  14. Totally unrealistic that someone as young as 34 would be interested in the Twins.
  15. Mendez is 5 months older than Marek Houston. I don't think either one is quite ready for MLB. It is encouraging that a player the same age as recent draftees is hitting the ball in Double-A.
  16. Especially when it was $400M in debt earlier in the year when they were selling the team. They want us to believe they fielded a team with a $130M payroll and lost $100M this season. That would mean they need a $30M payroll to make a profit. They supposedly lost $100M this year and the only people who got fired are the baseball manager (who has no responsibility for profit and loss) and a bunch of scouts
  17. It is probably a good idea to move Mendez to 1B. He's not a fast runner and doesn't appear to be high enough on the depth chart defensively to get playing time in the outfield. First base is quite thin in the Twins system with non-prospects like Aaron Sabato, Nate Baez and Peyton Carr getting the most starts at that position. Billy Amick is the only player you would call a 1B prospect. Mendez should be able to get a LOT of playing time at 1B. It is probably a bad idea to make him the Opening Day 1B with no backup plan other than Kody Clemens. They should absolutely sign a veteran 1B (there are many options) to fill that position next season. Mendez can play in St. Paul and continue to develop.
  18. Drop the payroll to the minimum and have concerts after every game. Attendance would be best in the league and musicians are cheaper than baseball players. Who cares if the crowd arrives in the 8th inning. That will just make it more exciting when they win!
  19. It's his glove, not his bat that is the major problem. Only Bo Bichette consistently had fielding numbers worse than Lee.
  20. I think they have to put Festa and Prielipp in the bullpen if they want to have a competitive bullpen in 2027. Even if they sign free agent relievers, they'll give them one-year contracts. Then we're back to scratch again in 2027. They may not be able to move from bad to elite in a season without spending money on free agents, but I think they can move from bad to average. It's perfectly fine to have just an "average" bullpen next season. If they somehow overachieve and end up in the mix in the weak AL Central, they can add relievers at the deadline for not much. Average in the bullpen is a reachable goal for 2026 and a step toward competing in 2027. I would love to watch an 80-win Twins team in 2026 if it has a bunch of young talent getting better.
  21. I think Maki is a good coach. The Twins have done a good job with the pitching staff for several years. They have taken mediocre minor leaguers and made them more effective by adding velocity and spin. They appear to have "fixed" Taj Bradley in a couple months. Several of the relievers they traded performed worse for their new team.
  22. I'm pretty sure I've heard Morneau talking about coaching his kids. Torii Hunter would be a great fit as a first base coach - no real in-game responsibilities besides keeping things loose and gathering equipment.
