    If Milone likes pitching when it is humid he should do well in Target Field in August.

    I think the Dodgers might listen if the Twins call offering a pitcher. I'd love to dump Nolasco on them but they would probably prefer Milone or Pelfrey.

    "The hope is no doubt that an outfield of Oswaldo Arcia, Byron Buxton and Aaron Hicks would be the configuration for many years to come" I think the only sure thing for years to come is Byron Buxton. Rosario was mentioned but his upside is that of a starter. Kepler, Walker and Harrison are all performing rather well in AA this year and any one of them could be up as soon as 2017. They're going to end the drought of outfield talent with a flood.

    "this is still a young kid" He's 25. When I was 25 I had two kids and a mortgage.

    The downside is slipping out of contention because they stayed with placeholders in CF too long. Are they playing for 3rd place?

    I was thinking more of experience facing batters and ability to sustain performance than burden on his arm but fair point.

    He's started all of 12 games at Cedar Rapids including last season. They can wait until after the all-star games with Gonsalves. He's never thrown more than 65 innings in a season at the professional level.

    I would disagree. Arcia doesn't deserve a scholarship, especially in April. Pinch hit for him if it can win you the game.

    Yeah, I'm not understanding how the problem is that the roster is uninspiring and the solution is Eric Farris. I don't think people in Rochester get excited to see Eric Farris.

    No, Fryer isn't on the 40 man roster and they'd have to cut someone else to add him.

    Looking at the schedule, Saturday April 18th would be a great time to have Pinto back. It's the second in a set of day games after night games. That would limit Herrmann to maybe two starts and give Pinto two weeks to get into game shape. Chris Herrmann's purpose on the roster is to get shuttled back and forth to AAA Rochester.

    I don't think people realize the bar for good performance in a bullpen pitcher. Putting up a 4 ERA is not impressive.

    Interesting to see a major league umpire essentially say that they can't tell where the ball crosses the plate and have to rely on the catcher to make a call.

    Then Arcia gets the boot. Sano would be fine in RF.

    Great article. I appreciate the effort and the presentation. It is interesting trying to synthesize what I've read about Suzuki's pitch framing and why it doesn't match perception. From what I've read he's bad at framing the low strike. He's also the top catcher at blocking pitches in the dirt and those are probably interrelated. The low strike that Suzuki is not getting called has only recently been called due to video umpire feedback. When Suzuki was being instructed on catching he was probably told that was a ball and the most important thing was to make sure it was caught. He may be able to alter his approach with the right coaching.

    I'm so tired of Spring Training auditions. Spring Training is a terrible time to judge ballplayers. Hicks has flopped twice out of the gate but "won" the job in Spring Training.

    Sano has been compared to Miguel Cabrera since he was 16. Cabrera came up and played RF because Mike Lowell was established at 3B. Eventually Lowell was traded and Cabrera went to 3B. Then when Cabrera was traded to Detroit he moved to 1B. Sano could follow the same path, hopefully without the trade to Detroit.

    Would trade Kohl Stewart for an ace (Hamels) now. Like others have said there is a lot of hype and not a lot of results yet.

    "Hart is the President of Baseball Operations" This is simply title inflation. They could call him the Grand Poobah of Baseball Decisions but he'd be doing a GM job

    Sometimes I wonder if we're expecting too much from the MLB draft. A large plurality of MLB players are international signs. You can do a great job with player development by scouting well internationally and miss on all of your draft picks.

    They need to use some of these C+/C prospects in trades as they are loaded with them. They can't all make it on the roster so they might as well try to get something of value for them.
