    Good look at underrated relievers. We will see if any are still available in late January. They do need a couple experienced players to provide a good example for all the rookies.

    There is a benefit for young players to play with teammates who are talented professionals. It shows them good habits and pushes them to improve.

    They absolutely need a free agent catcher. Jeffers can’t catch 162 games. The rest will be decided after trades are made depending on what they get in return.

    Congrats to LaTroy. Bullpen coach might have the least amount of in-game responsibility of any. Once the umpire says "Play Ball" the job is to pick up the telephone. He should have some value explaining to players how to prepare and adjust to life as a reliever.

    The Twins are one of the most paranoid teams in baseball about having someone play hurt. If someone gets a bad hangnail they'll go on the injured list.

    Refusing to spend any revenue to improve the team now or in the future will create a death spiral for this franchise.

    Laweryson has no ability to negotiate his contract.

    1) They're hoarding service time for anyone who might be good and didn't want to spend it on 2025. 2) They don't have a lot of relief pitcher prospects in the minors. Can you name someone who clearly seemed ready for the big leagues and was held down unfairly? I was willing to give Marco Raya a shot, but he wasn't doing particularly well in AAA. With nobody obvious to promote they decided to spend September auditioning waiver wire pitchers. Unsurprisingly, they didn't find anyone useful.

    So somewhere between 25% and 30% of revenue. That's pathetic. The problem is any free agent they acquire will be a worse value than keeping Lopez.

    MLB trade rumors just posted their list today. Interesting value players 19) Kazuma Okamoto 4/$64M - turns 30 next season but projects as an average 1B. Strikes out very little (11.3%). Struggles with fastballs 95 MPH and greater. 28) Ha-Seong Kim 2/$30M - would add needed depth to the Twins infield. Nice stopgap SS to hold the spot until Culpepper or Houston is ready. Could be trade bait next season as well. Recently turned 30. 29) JT Realmuto 2/$30M - the Twins clearly need a catcher and Realmuto is still really good at calling games and controlling baserunners. JT will probably have no trouble finding a spot with a contender rather than starting for the Twins. 34) Luis Arraez 2/$24M - the only top 50 free agent anyone guessed could end up with the Twins. If he produces 3 WAR over the two seasons the Twins would break even. He might even generate some ticket sales to old fogies who love batting average and hate dingers. 45) Gregory Soto 2/$16M - a lefty reliever who throws 97 MPH but needs to polish up his slider to become dominant. The Twins have been known to get more out of a pitcher's slider. Could take whatever saves are available for the Twins and get traded with a "proven closer" pedigree. 49) Victor Caratini 2/$14M - quite affordable for a starting catcher

    Miranda was demonstrably frustrated in AAA last season. It was obvious with body language that he didn't want to be there anymore. Lousy attitude and lousy performance. The only surprise is he wasn't released earlier.

    There will be literally dozens of relievers with as much potential as Laweryson available this offseason.

    Trading Bader worked out quite nicely for them. It's often a good idea to stash tradeable veterans, especially in the bullpen. Buy low in February and sell high in July.

    We all know the Twins will not sign free agents until late January when all that is left are players the good teams with big budgets don’t want. That could be Hoskins this season.

    I still think teams should 100% share the media money and 0% share the attendance/concessions/parking money. TV money is something teams get simply for existing in a market. Attendance is related to wins and losses better than any other revenue stream.

    I think the players you are seeing first were outrighted and have the ability to refuse the outright assignment. I don't know if Keirsey or McCusker can refuse the assignment.

    Wrong order. If you put Arraez in front of Keaschall and Buxton he'll clog up the bases ahead of them and limit them to station-to-station baserunning. OTOH - Buxton is one of the few people in the league fast enough to score off of one of Arraez' weak singles. Then you put HR power behind Arraez because he's not scoring from first on a single or a double. Buxton Keaschall Arraez Lewis Wallner They might be able to add Arraez. There are doubts that his demand from the rest of the league will be that high. Fangraphs crowd source has him at 2 years $28M and he might get even less. Over the next two seasons, Arraez projects as Austin Martin without the speed and defense. The Twins are in a unique position because the cupboard is so bare. Even a mediocre first baseman like Miguel Andujar looks like a huge upgrade on Kody Clemens or Eddy Julien.

    Tha'ts fine. Experience is free. Find someone with talent, put them in high leverage and give them the experience. Either they grow into the role or they don't. Ronny Henriquez didn't have any high leverage experience until the Marlins gave it to him. The whole point of the 2026 season is to find out which talented, young players can succeed at this level. That means they will take some lumps in April and May.

    I think that would be as successful as moving Miguel Sano to RF.

    I expect the Twins to sign a catcher first. They tend to come off the board early in the offseason and if they trade Jeffers, they need to acquire two of them. I don't expect them to go back to the free agent market until they complete any offseason trades. Then in late January they'll pick over the players who still haven't signed to fill the holes that still remain.

    Kody Clemens is a lock to make the 2026 Twins. There is no way they acquire enough talent to bump him off the roster.

    That’s why you spread the risk by acquiring two more players with upside.

    Do people here know that premium prospects can be traded for other players? Always maximize the upside talent potential in a vets for prospects trade.

    They need Bryce Eldridge in a trade with the Giants. San Francisco just traded for Rafael Devers to take 1B. Get Eldridge and two more prospects. The other two can be a later ETA.
