  1. Mixed reviews implies there are some positive reviews. The reviews of Josh Bell's defense range from "solidly below-average" to "poor". I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins end up 30th out of 30 in the 2026 first base defense rankings.
  2. They are buying the Twins, so it tracks.
  3. Connor Prielipp is also highlighted for his stuff in this article
  4. Twins pitchers had two mentions in this article about the most extreme statcast plays of 2025 There are videos at the link. It makes me hopeful that having Ober follow Ryan in the rotation will have batters baffled.
  5. Ouch. The Twins have multiple "worst positions" to worry about and so far they haven't addressed any of them. There is some hope that Royce Lewis and Matt Wallner can each hit better than last season, If Wallner struggles, there are several options in AAA. I am most worried about SS where Ryan Kreidler (career WAR -0.7) is apparently their improvement plan. I would love to see the Twins sign Isaiah Kiner-Falefa to fill that hole. He's not perfect, but he's a 3 WAR upgrade on Ryan Kreidler. They will not make the postseason if they get "less from the shortstop position than any other team in baseball".
  6. Disagree. OHearn projects for 4 WAR for $29M. Bell projects for 0.5 WAR for $7M. Pirates get the better deal and the better player.
  7. The Pirates should be pushing the chips in. They're only going to get so many years with Skenes in the rotation.
  8. It depends on how many starters they decide to move to the bullpen. There is a good argument to be made that Ober should move to the bullpen to regain his lost velocity and the effectiveness that comes with that velocity. He didn't have the stamina to maintain his fastball last season. Put him in the bullpen and he could be the closer. Festa should move to the bullpen. He's never had the ability to put up a lot of innings as a starter. The thoracic outlet syndrome means it makes sense to limit his innings. If his stuff plays up at all he could replace Jax. Prielipp should also move to the bullpen to keep him healthy and increase his effectiveness. He could be an all-star in relief. Raya is the final arm who has a future as a reliever, though I think he'll need more time in AAA to figure it out. That leaves Lopez, Ryan, Bradley, Woods Richardson, Matthews and Abel for the rotation with Morris, Rojas and Culpepper for depth. Bullpen would be Ober, Festa, Prielipp, Topa, Funderburk, Sands and Orze with one spot open for Raya/Klein/Ohl/Adams.
  9. The WBC is pointless if they don't allow the best players to participate. Either the best players participate, or you cancel the event.
  10. I hope the Twins vet their charities better than the Padres did. That was a pretty big scandal.
  11. Jared Triolo seems to be unwanted in Pittsburgh. He'd be the starting SS in Minnesota.
  12. If Ober starts the season barely throwing 90 and struggling, I would probably move him to the bullpen to see if I can get the velocity bump that makes him effective.
  13. The Twins should have been thrilled to go 2 years $34M for Murakami. That's a pillow contract.
  14. I would go back to the original deal. Houston agrees to pay the $30M on Correas contract and the Twins pay Walker $40M over two seasons. That’s effectively a 2-year $10M commitment for Christian Walker. Then I’d try to flip him again at the deadline to dump the contract on someone else.
  15. I used to collect baseball cards when I was a kid. Stopped collecting but I have a bunch of 1990s junk wax. I actually think collecting is more fun when the cards are worthless. After all, they're just pictures of baseball players. Anyone can make a picture of a baseball player.
  16. All the trades of relief pitchers last season should teach them that relievers are easy to trade at the deadline. Free agent relievers are not just help for this season, they’re an opportunity to participate at the trade deadline.
  17. He appears to have made a successful adjustment. Now pitchers will change how they are attacking him. It's a game of constant adjustments.
  18. I wonder if there is an aging veteran starting pitcher who wouldn't mind moving to the bullpen to extend his career. Frankie Montas, Jon Gray, Tyler Anderson, Griffin Canning, Jose Quintana, Martin Perez, etc.
  19. He could be one of the team's best relievers by May.
  20. That would be awesome. Move him to first base and he can lock that position down for 5 years.
  21. Thinking back to the original article, I'm surprised nobody has suggested moving Royce Lewis back to SS. He was drafted as a SS and played a lot of games there. His statcast metrics are better than Brooks Lee. He had a good season at 3B, and I understand wanting to build on that success, but the best defensive alignment might be Lee at 3B and Lewis as the starting SS.
