  1. I don't think teams are going to be looking for Fedko in the Rule 5 draft. The upside has to be high enough to make it worth carrying a non-contributor on the roster for a whole season. There are several minor league free agents with stats as good as Fedko and they're a lot more convenient to acquire.
  2. There are potentially way too many outfielders on the 40-man roster. Buxton, Larnach, Wallner, Martin, Roden, Outman, Keirsey, McCusker, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Jenkins, Mendez, Rosario, Fedko plus Kreidler and Clemens who can play outfield. That's 14-16 outfielders on the 40-man. Jenkins won't be on the roster in the offseason but he's pretty certain to be on it sometime in 2026. They need to pick their best 9 from that group. I think that's Buxton, Wallner, Martin, Roden, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Jenkins, Mendez and Rosario.
  3. Brooks Lee has better defensive tools than Eeles at SS. I wouldn’t play Eeles at SS for more than a handful of innings in an emergency. Someone has to be the backup SS. They also have room for someone in AAA. They should be scouting film on the younger minor league free agents.
  4. It looks like he stuck with the Washington Nationals for the full season.
  5. Minor league free agent SS OPS in AAA last season and age Yordys Valdes 526 23 Luis Verdugo 494 24 Dalvy Rosario 508 24 Eddys Leonard 739 24 Liover Peguero 688 24 Raynel Delgado 741 25 Jonathan Ornelas 574 25 Livan Soto 571 26 (getting attention on other message boards) Jordan Groshans 660 26 Chad Stevens 855 26 Rodolfo Castro 745 26 Andrew Navigato 649 27 Diego Castillo 737 27 Connor Kaiser 751 28 Will Holland 637 28 Riley Unroe 806 29 Alan Trejo 789 29 Jackson Cluff 771 29 Andrew Velazquez 649 30 Dixon Machado 646 33 Jack Lopez 623 32 I bolded the most interesting guys. Anyone know anything about Chad Stevens? He looks like he deserves a shot.
  6. There is evidence that careers are getting shorter. Players come up later and retire earlier. All signs that competition has never been higher. We are overdue for expansion.
  7. I really wish Brooks Lee could field as well as Lindor. He fields a lot more like Bichette.
  8. How would he compare to Walls of Tampa Bay? If he could be Walls for the league minimum I'd take him.
  9. Cool. This has been a gap since Baseball Think Factory died.
  10. IKF is roughly 2-3 WAR better than Fitzgerald. He's also a year YOUNGER than Fitzgerald. Someone might give them a 40 FV prospect in July for IKF but nobody will give them anything for Fitzgerald. I'd be okay if they were going to "go with youth" but it's more likely they go with old AAAA washouts like Gasper, Kreidler, Keirsey, Fitzgerald and Outman.
  11. He is Rule 5 eligible and won't be protected by the Dodgers. You won't need to trade for him. They could get him in the 2nd round of the Rule 5 draft. That might be the answer - find some other team's overlooked minor league SS and use them instead of a 32-year-old Ryan Fitzgerald.
  12. That would be a good way to win the “most profitable franchise” award
  13. There are several free agent 1B options who hit at least as well as Larnach and will cost about as much as Larnach. Royce Lewis needs to play 3B - they don’t have a better option defensively at third.
  14. February 1, unless it’s at catcher. That market dries up in December.
  15. Good look at underrated relievers. We will see if any are still available in late January. They do need a couple experienced players to provide a good example for all the rookies.
  16. There is a benefit for young players to play with teammates who are talented professionals. It shows them good habits and pushes them to improve.
  17. They absolutely need a free agent catcher. Jeffers can’t catch 162 games. The rest will be decided after trades are made depending on what they get in return.
  18. Congrats to LaTroy. Bullpen coach might have the least amount of in-game responsibility of any. Once the umpire says "Play Ball" the job is to pick up the telephone. He should have some value explaining to players how to prepare and adjust to life as a reliever.
  19. The Twins are one of the most paranoid teams in baseball about having someone play hurt. If someone gets a bad hangnail they'll go on the injured list.
  20. Refusing to spend any revenue to improve the team now or in the future will create a death spiral for this franchise.
  21. Laweryson has no ability to negotiate his contract.
  22. 1) They're hoarding service time for anyone who might be good and didn't want to spend it on 2025. 2) They don't have a lot of relief pitcher prospects in the minors. Can you name someone who clearly seemed ready for the big leagues and was held down unfairly? I was willing to give Marco Raya a shot, but he wasn't doing particularly well in AAA. With nobody obvious to promote they decided to spend September auditioning waiver wire pitchers. Unsurprisingly, they didn't find anyone useful.
