    No flights from AAA cities to Dyersville. Of course the Saints are in Des Moines right now so it isn’t as big of a problem for the Twins.

    I wouldn’t combine offensive stats and defensive stats like that. WAR would convert each to offensive and defensive runs above average. Fielders see a +/- of 25 runs versus average over the course of the season.

    Fielding should translate 1 to 1. Fielding chances are generally not more difficult in AAA. Fielders get about the same number of chances per game. Statcast is installed in AAA parks as well as the Florida State League. The overall spread in talent will be larger in the minors and the average fielder will be worse than the majors.

    Alan Roden increased his OPS from .490 to .614 in one game.

    Roden is crushing it today. Weird timing.

    Keaschall has very bad range and a weak arm. The difference is like 20-30 defensive runs saved. Massey is 93rd percentile in range and Keaschall is the 1st percentile.

    Martin has 1 WAR off the bench this season.

    It is worth remembering that Jenkins was out over six weeks in May and June with a shoulder injury. That comes after missing time in March with a hamstring injury. This is his first stretch of consistent playing time all season. I can’t fault the Twins for playing other guys while Jenkins was injured or recovering from injuries.

    The roster was so full of average infielders that we got 141 combined starts from Ryan Kreidler and Tristan Gray.

    What is “unproven” about Massey. He has an OPS+ of 100 and is a terrific fielder. I can understand if the Twins are allergic to good defense at second base. They have been avoiding it since Todd Walker.

    I think he will be on the roster September 1 if he can manage to avoid injury that long. There have been a dozen opportunities for Rodriguez to get promoted over the past three seasons but he has almost always been injured when the Twins had an opening.

    So you want Walker Jenkins to play 17 games in the majors this season instead of getting everyday playing time in the minors.

    I don’t remember the Twins giving Tristan Gray playing time in the outfield.

    Yes, the Twins should definitely play minor leaguers who are injured in the major leagues instead of putting them on the minor league injured list. Rodriguez has not been promoted because he can’t stay on the field. He has missed nearly 400 games due to injury over the past four seasons.

    Subtract 200 points of OPS from AAA stats to get a ballpark for MLB equivalent production.
