The organizational failure with Jeffers is not extending his contract two years ago. Unfortunately, he will be a free agent in a couple months and will command more in salary than he is worth to the Twins. They have to trade him now, especially with the Yankees desperate for a RH hitting catcher. The rumors are Carlos Lagrange plus another arm. That’s the Nelson Cruz for Joe Ryan trade all over again.

I actually want them to go for it in 2027. Pablo will be back - Ryan, Lopez and Bradley is a great start to a rotation. Prielipp, Matthews, Rojas round it out. I think Lee, Culpepper, Clemens and Lewis is a decent infield. Caratini is a decent C. There are outfield bats in AAA who could be really good next season (Roden, Rodriguez, Jenkins, Gonzalez and even Mendez). They need a bullpen and they could have one for about $20M. They have plenty of payroll room to make that happen. I’m selling Jeffers, Larnach, Ober, Bell, Banda, and Rogers. Everyone else they had better make a stupid offer to obtain.

What if they have a shot at winning 3 games in a row?

No. There are plenty of suburban soccer fans. It is one of the most popular youth sports. They’re all fighting for the same corporate entertainment dollars for the suites. Baseball fans like stats, right? Basketball and soccer participation are basically flat but youth baseball and softball participation rates have dropped 25% since Target Field opened. https://projectplay.org/state-of-play-2025/participation-trends

I think Raya got cheated out of making his debut. If they start the 9th up by seven he gets the call.

Yes, and there are pinch hit opportunities for the bench nearly every game.

Larnach can play some RF. Everyone can take a day off now and again. Bell can pinch hit more often.

One way to keep Jackson on the roster until the deadline is to drop down to 12 pitchers. The 13th pitcher has been mostly terrible this season.

Not a bad idea. I would have Keaschall play 2B when there is a LH starter and LF when there is a RH starting pitcher. I would use Roden instead of Fedko in the meantime as well. Roden hit LHP in AAA almost as well as Fedko and he’s crushing RHP.

Dozens of D3 schools would close.

Dozier got a ring with Washington in 2019. I think he’s fine with how things turned out.

Clemens is pretty good at 2B. Roden to RF and Clemens to 2B improves the defense. Martin is exactly what they hoped they would get from Manny Margot.

Trading Trevor Larnach Just Makes Too Much Sense
DJL44 replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
There is no reason this team should hang on to expensive veteran role players to try to eke out 78 wins instead of finishing with 75 wins. There is no AL Central 3rd place pennant to hang in the rafters. If you want to acquire a free agent as good as Larnach this offseason it will cost about the same as he is expected to cost in arbitration. -
Guys 3+ years away can be traded later for guys who are ready to play now. Get the best return now and figure out 2027 in the offseason.

The Twins' Next Star Outfielder Might Not Be Who You Think
DJL44 replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
The bat looks good. I’m not sure he’s an outfielder. -
There are too many holes to fill without completely gutting the farm system. This is not the season to push in all the chips. I think when you trade you should always get the most valuable pieces, even if they are only in A-ball. Those players can be traded (or allow you to trade someone else) in the offseason for near-term help. Sell high in July and buy low in January.

Kyler Fedko was the available pinch hitter. If I ran the team and Shelton pinch hit for Byron Buxton with Kyler Fedko, I would fire him on the spot. He wouldn’t even get to do the postgame interview.
