  1. Not to mention he's the backup CF on the roster if Taylor gets hurt.
  2. I actually hope the Rays get out of St. Petersburg and INTO Tampa. They could draw fans if they weren't surrounded by water on all sides.
  3. Last offer from the local government was $400M toward the new stadium in Oakland. Smart decision by the city of Oakland to not bankrupt itself when locals who want to see MLB can take the ferry to a Giants game. They could move the Las Vegas AAA team to Oakland and we could see the Oakland Oaks return to the Pacific Coast League.
  4. Someone else will get hurt by then. It's nearly impossible to keep 13 players all healthy at the same time. The worrying about "What will we do when everyone is healthy?" is like worrying "What if the Tuesday night Royals game sells out at Target Field?".
  5. Just like every other lineup in major league baseball. The Twins are just slightly below average at striking out. The Washington Nationals are a league best 110 Ks but they also don't hit any home runs.
  6. It is an open question whether Varland has passed Ober on the depth chart.
  7. Varland already looks like one of the 5 best options for the rotation. I don't see a reason to stash him in AAA another season.
  8. The surplus value of this extension (estimated $30M) makes the Arraez trade a clear win for the Twins.
  9. I think Gray and Mahle will get a qualifying offer (less confident on Maeda). One of them might accept it.
  10. I will guess in May.
  11. 2nd least WAR among position players. He hasn't been horrible but he's not helping them win. Miranda needs to produce or Royce Lewis will take that starting position at 3B. Julien will go down first because he's not a good fielder and they don't need a DH right now.
  12. That actually never happened which makes it very confusing to see in a game recap. They're still the Indianapolis I N D I A N S. They are considering renaming the team but I am pretty sure they won't ever call themselves the Guardians. edit: I tried typing I N D I A N S and the website did a find and replace with Guardians automatically. That's probably the same issue with the article. Bad code.
  13. Not surprised at all to see Randy Dobnak struggling this year. Woods-Richardson has decent K/BB numbers, he's just been very hittable.
  14. When do they start talking about a contract extension with Pablo Lopez?
  15. Surprised nobody mentioned Jose Miranda as a possible demotion. He has not been playing well enough to keep his position when Farmer is healthy.
  16. I was waiting for someone to go negative. Joe Ryan shut down the Yankees offense. Even if you ignore the big inning this team still wins the game.
  17. They're winning with half of their offensive starters on the injured list, Correa and Miranda struggling and Buxton limited to full-time DH. Vazquez has nearly earned his salary for the year and we're halfway through April. That was one of the best free agent signings by any team this offseason. The Farmer trade has also paid off very well so far.
  18. The bullpen has been very good too. Pete Maki should get a lot of credit for having his staff ready to contribute on game 1.
  19. Unfortunately it seems to be at the cost of playing less than 50% of the game (no defense) when he does play.
