  1. Kirby and Gilbert are really good pitchers. To get one of them would require trading someone as good as Julien.
  2. Seattle actually has the young, good, cheap starting pitchers that would make a Julien trade worthwhile but I doubt Seattle will want to trade any of them.
  3. If you're looking for a bench player to destroy lefties, he's a good fit. Career split vs LHP is .323/.363/.453. He's only looking at a $4.4M arbitration salary and is controllable for next season, too. Can play 1B and LF. Rays Shopping Harold Ramirez - MLB Trade Rumors
  4. You can get a free agent DH bat about as good as Polanco for less than $10.5M. He has value because he can play 2B. If they're only going to use him as a DH they need to trade him. Out of desperation and he was really bad.
  5. Apparently they don't teach about debt in an MBA program anymore. There would never be a business startup if this was true.
  6. Farmer is the better defender, can play multiple positions and is available more often. Polanco is often injured and can really only play 2B or DH now. Farmer is a better option for the bench. I think they're both likely to be dealt. Farmer would be the starting SS for SF or Miami.
  7. $116M was the 21st ranking payroll in 2024 with an average payroll of $156M. Average pay is going up this offseason and the Diamondbacks, Reds and Tigers are moving up the list as they add free agents. If $125M isn't in the bottom 10 it will be within $10M of the bottom 10 and is certain to be closer to 21st than it is either the average or the median payrolls.
  8. I don't have a problem with this. Get the best prospects you can, trade some of the others for a starting pitcher.
  9. Julien has been with the team for a full season now.
  10. The Twins don't control the weather but they are 100% in control of the TV contract.
  11. The Twins have made it clear they want to try to compete with a payroll in the bottom 10. In order to do that they can't afford to allocate $10.5M on a redundant 2B.
  12. The ball breaks less in Colorado due to the thin air. It's a good place for a fastball/changeup pitcher because a slider doesn't slide nearly as well.
  13. Playing in the location where it is most difficult to strike batters out and for the organization that is the least analytical in the major leagues. Remember when Verlander joined the Astros and they unlocked additional velocity and spin? That potential is there. The Rockies are still in the "pitch-to-contact" era.
  14. A lefthanded 4th starter. He had an ERA+ around 100 the last 3 seasons.
  15. Based on this the Twins are going to need to promote him or he will get poached by another organization.
  16. Kyle Freeland
  17. People can make their opinions known about who should be in the Hall of Fame 24/7/365.
  18. He is the worst pitcher on the team at holding runners so singles and walks have the potential to turn into doubles with a runner in scoring position.
  19. "We have received some complaints from our season ticket holders about being forced to interact with the working class. We decided to put the blue-collar folks in the outfield away from our suites to reduce these interactions. We may even make them use a separate entrance to enhance the experience for the fans we really care about. Plus, we get to cut some jobs which makes the Pohlad family happy."
  20. Snell should beat Rodon's guarantee which is $60M and 2 more years than Castillo. If the Mariners decide to trade Castillo there will be a bidding war that the Twins are unlikely to win.
  21. I'd actually be thrilled if Wallner matched Gallo's performance from ages 25-28 when he was a two time All-Star. We'll have to wait 5 years to compare him to current-day Sano or Gallo.
  22. Here's where I disagree. I think Julien has already passed up Polanco on the depth chart and right now Polanco is a $10.5M backup 2B in decline. They need to find him a new home before he gets injured again and is untradeable at the deadline. The Twins do NOT have 5 starters better than DeSclafini right now, which is the main problem they need to solve. I'm not certain they have 4 starters better than DeSclafini; Chris Paddack has a pretty sketchy performance record. I'd rather the Twins give a contract to James Paxton and trade Polanco just for prospects but they may need to take salary back to get a deal done with Seattle.
